Abstract
Description
The invention relates generally to the manufacture of hollow textile articles (in the following the simply called "hollow body"), especially of airbags for vehicle occupants (including the driver himself), but also backpacks, bags, seat covers, Clothing, especially pants.
The present invention has two variants. The first variant is assumed from a fabric tube that is woven as a tube in two layers or from a fabric the web is folded into a tube in the longitudinal direction of the web and sewn. In the second variant, a web of fabric is assumed that runs across it Longitudinal direction is folded over. The hollow body should be used rationally among users of folding, sewing and cutting processes.
The goal is always a real hollow body and not one made up of two webs stitched flat structure. An airbag intended for the driver himself, which on Steering wheel is to be attached, is intended as a real hollow body, i.e. with a rotating one Gusset, but not as a flat structure.
According to claim 1, which relates to the first variant, from one to another Fabric tube manufactured according to the method, sealed in its open end adjacent spreading elements of a spreading device are introduced. From A hose section is separated from the hose, the length of which is to produce that of the corresponds to the hollow body plus oversize. The surcharge is to be understood as "oversize" the one that is necessary for fabric edges outside the seams, as well as for shrinking the tissue under the influence of heat, e.g. B. in heat setting, and the like more. The expansion elements are then until the tube is completely expanded section spread. Folding elements are against the free side surfaces from the outside of the hose section pressed, namely between the expansion elements.
The tube section is compressed under the action of heat, and in this The expansion elements and the folding elements from the hose section become the process pulled, so that a further stable structure results when pressed further together has an upper and a lower outer layer and in between two gussets. Then the upper outer layer with each of the upper gusset layers and the lower outer layer with each that of the lower gusset layers along a contour line, the course of which for the shape of the to be generated hollow body is sewn. The fabric material outside the Seams are cut off.
The fabric tube is preferably woven together by two at its edges te fabric sheets formed. The same can be produced more quickly than an all-round ge woven hose. However, one has marginal strips, which are later turned inside out Inside of the hollow body can be shifted.
As mentioned above, instead of a woven tube, you can also use one out of one Use the hose made of a layered fabric web. The fabric web is one folded in the middle in the longitudinal direction, and then lay one on top of the other edges are sewn together.
The fabric tube preferably has stronger warp threads in the area of these edges (Edge warp threads) than in the rest of the area.
For the production of an airbag that is airtight and air permeable A fabric hose can be used that has at least one, in particular two longitudinal strips made of a very dense, almost gas impermeable and at least one, in particular two longitudinal strips from a loose, gas-permeable Tissue. Instead, a fabric hose can be made of a gas-permeable window Have tissues that are arranged within an otherwise dense fabric.
The invention also relates to a device according to claim 9 for production a textile hollow body according to a method according to the invention, the one has intermittently movable endless belt which is used to convey an expanding device device and the stretched hose sections from one to the next workstation etc. serves. The device includes a spreading device, a feed device for the fabric hose, a folding device for the hose section and a Bü gel device. Another conveyor is connected to the endless belt on, namely for the folded and ironed tube sections, and sewing device gene and cutting devices.
If an airbag is to be produced, then according to claims 8 and 11 Generator mouth cut and a generator mouth fabric sewn over it.
According to the second variant, the manufacture of a textile hollow body by one single-ply fabric sheet, which is cut perpendicular to its longitudinal Direction is divided into Bahri pieces, each of which is a length in the direction of the train has that the sum of the maximum widths of all partial areas of the hollow body plus corresponds to the required excess.
The cut web piece is then folded over, in particular in its longitudinal center. The two ends of the web piece are sewn together so that a flat tube arises, which then has an upper and a lower outer layer. In one open end of the Hose are spreading elements of a spreading device lying close together introduced. It is now from the sewn and from the folded edge of the cunning ches forth, to form gussets, side panels between the upper and lower fabrics position pushed so that again the gusset layers described above arise. Then, as described above, along contour lines whose course for the shape of the hollow body to be produced are essential, sewn and abge outside the seams cut.
The claims 13ff. refer to measures (procedures such as devices) that can be applied to both variants of the invention. So the sewing device conditions can either be controlled by a computer, or sewing templates can be used be used.
According to claim 15, the upper outer layer with the two upper gusset layers sewn at the same time, so processing time is saved.
According to claim 18, the processing time can be further shortened in that the Fabric material outside of the seams is cut off at the same time as sewing.
According to claim 19 or 20, the hollow body after sewing and cutting off be put over, which is particularly important for airbags, so that all edge strips after be swept inside and do not endanger the passenger to be protected.

Should textile hollow bodies are generated in a different way, so the ver required for an airbag steps and components are left out and replaced by others.
Fig. 1 shows in the form of, viewed from the side, a first transport device 2 of a guided over rollers 4 and 5, endless, driven belt 6. On the band 6 holder 8 are attached at equal mutual distances, which are used to hold and Actuate conditions of a spreading device to be described.
Fig. 2 shows a drawn off from a supply roll 10 fabric tube 11. The hose on the supply roll is checked. Faulty tissue areas are marked and are cut out after unwinding. The fabric tube was created by weaving an upper and a lower layer together. One can see at the back and at the front an edge strip 9 which contains warp and weft threads of both layers and thus combines the upper and lower layers to form a tube.
In the area of its edges, the fabric hose can have stronger warp threads, so-called Kan warp threads, than in the rest of the range.
Although it is possible to produce a tubular fabric without edge strips 9 , this process currently takes too much time.
Es ergibt sich ein Gewebeschlauch 111.As shown in FIG. 12, the fabric hose can also be produced in another way, namely starting from a single-layer fabric web 100 which is unwound from a roll 102 . The fabric web is folded about its longitudinal axis 104 so that its left edge 106 lies below its right edge 107 . Both edges are then sewn together, namely through a longitudinal seam 109 . The longitudinal seam 109 can in particular be carried out several times, that is by z. B. sewn three step-by-step. A fabric hose 111 results.
The following description refers both to a fabric hose 11 produced by weaving alone according to FIG. 2 and, if appropriate, to a sewn Ge textile hose 111 according to FIG. 12.
B. in Panama-Bindung. The fabric hose 11 or 111 has at the top and bottom a middle hose part 11 a made of the densest possible fabric, z. B. in a 1/1 bond. At its edges, ie front and rear in Fig. 2, it has outer tube parts 11 b made of a looser fabric, for. B. in Panama weave. From the fabric tube 11 , a tube section 12 is cut off, the length of which in the longitudinal direction of the web corresponds to the length of the side walls of the airbag to be produced, plus the excess defined above.
Instead of the longitudinal strips of different densities, the fabric tube 11 or 111 can also have individual windows 114 made of a loose fabric, as shown in FIG. 12, while the surrounding fabric is dense.
The hose section 12 ( FIG. 2) or a hose section according to FIG. 12 is either cut off after measuring the length before introducing the spreading device to be described below or only after its introduction.
Fig. 3 shows a perspective view of the spreading device 17 with two auseinanderzudrückenden spreading elements 14 in the form of frames. The two spreading elements 14 are articulated at their left ends with two inclined insertion plates 16 which are articulated together in a common hinge axis 24 . At their right end in FIG. 3, the spreading elements 14 each have two joints 27 , by means of which they are connected to two struts 28 in an articulated manner. The four struts 28 lead to a block 21 with which they are articulated. The block is attached to the left end of the push tube 19 .
In the hinge axis sits a rotating body 25 on which a rod 26 attaches, which is slidably housed within a push tube 19 . The rod 26 is inside the thrust tube 19 and through this leads to the end of a cylinder 20 in the holder 8 ge. The push tube 19 is firmly connected to a piston 20 a, which is pneumatically displaceable within the cylinder 20 . By pneumatic actuation of the piston, the push tube 19 can be moved to the left or right relative to the rod 26 , whereby, similar to a screen, the expansion elements 14 can be pressed apart or folded together.
To insert the expansion elements 14 into the open end 29 of the fabric tube 11 , the expansion elements 14 are brought as close as possible to one another. Then the spreading device 17 is inserted with the flat tip thus formed from the insertion plates 16 until the right rods in FIG. 3 of the spreading elements 14 have disappeared just below the open end 29 of the fabric tube. Then the fabric tube 11 is cut off against the insertion plates 16 . Instead, you can, as described above, cut off the hose section beforehand and only then run the spreader.
After insertion, the expansion device 17 is expanded to its full size, so that the tube section 12 , as shown in FIGS. 4 and 5, has approximately a square cross section, with an upper and a lower outer layer 50 , 51 , which are connected to the expansion elements 14 abuts and a front and a rear side wall 30 which are freely stretched between the front and rear edges of the expansion elements 14 .
At one of the work stations there is a cutting device 32 , which is used to cut and seal a hole, "generator mouth" 34 for a gas generator. The cutting device is shown here in simplified form as a tube. It can be designed in various ways, but in any case ensures that the edges of the hole 34 are sealed. It can have a knife to be heated, can work with laser beams or with ultrasound.
Fig. 5 shows that (at another work station) a known generator mouth material 38 is sewn on. This consists of a rectangular piece of fabric that has envelopes (not shown) on its four edges for later insertion of metal bars. A highly schematically illustrated sewing device 36 is used , the lower arm of which is guided from the right, open side into the hose section and whose needle and corresponding parts are guided along a rectangular path at the bottom of the generator material 38 .
Fig. 6 shows the hose section 12 with partially folded device Spreizvorrich 17th In this position, from both sides (front and rear in Fig. 6) of a folding device, not shown, folding elements 40 in the form of horizontal sheets pressed downward, so that between the upper and lower layers of the fabric loop each one gusset 52 , 52 a forms. If the processed hose has outer hose parts 11b ( FIG. 2) made of loose fabric, the two gussets now consist of this loose fabric. If the web has instead window 114 ( Fig. 12) made of loose fabric, there is a portion of the gusset, e.g. B. part of the gusset length of FIG. 6 from the sem loose tissue. Now heated from above and below plates of an ironing press, not shown, are pressed against the upper and lower layers of the tube section while the spreading device is being folded. Finally, the spreading device and the folding elements 40 are pulled out and the tube section is brought into a stable shape by the ironing press.
This results in a structure according to FIGS. 7 and 8. The hose section 12 has the upper and lower fabric layers 50 , 51 and the two gussets 52 and 52 a. The fabrics cover at their outer edges shown on the right and left in FIG. 7, each over a folded edge 53 to 56 on the right and left, each in an upper and a lower gusset layer 58 to 61 . The gusset layers merge into each other through an inner folded edge 63 , 64 . The edge strips 9 described with reference to FIG. 2 project outward from these folded edges. If a hose according to FIG. 12 is assumed, an edge strip 110 ( FIG. 12) outside the seam 109 is only present on one side instead of the two inner folded edges 63 and 64 .
The so folded and under pressure and heat to a relatively stable structure pressed hose section can now be transported in a simpler way, for what another transport device, not shown, is used. For example, the Hose section are conveyed on an assembly line to which it is sucked.
So he gets to another work station. Here, a stitching is produced along a predetermined contour line 66 by a sewing device, not shown, of a known type in the upper fabric layer 50 and the upper gusset layer 58 . In the fall of an airbag z. B. three quilting seams close together in the same operation. The sewing device can be controlled in a known manner by a sewing template which is pressed from above onto the folded tube section and along which the sewing device travels. Instead, the sewing device can be controlled via a computer along the intended contour line.
Es verbleibt ein nach außen vorstehender Randstab schnitt 73.Outside the seam produced along the contour line 66 , the protruding material is cut off along a cutting edge 68 . During this cutting process, the tissue is sealed in a known manner. There remains an outwardly projecting edge bar section 73 .
The left side of the hose section in FIG. 9 is preferably machined at the same workstation. There the upper outer layer 50 and the upper gusset layer 60 are sewn together and cut off on the outside.
The hose section can then be turned around an axis in the longitudinal or transverse direction of the web. It is then sewn in the same way the now upward facing outer layer 51 with the gusset layers 59 and 61 and cut off the outside.
On the open side of the gusset 52 , a shape retaining band 75 can be sewn in when the upper and lower seams are made in FIG . It extends transversely to the two seams at the top and bottom in FIG. 9a and represents a connection between the two, which, when the airbag is inflated, ensures that it cannot be expanded beyond a desired size. It can be arranged on the right and left in Fig. 9 and 10, several form tebänder or only one approximately in the middle.
This results in a structure according to Fig. 10, the mouth in the case of a generator of an air bag 34 and a sewn generator mouth fabric 38 has. In the case of an airbag, the upper and the lower opening of the tube section must now be sewn by seams 70 , 71 , and specifically inwards from the edge. The hose section can now be turned inside out so that the edge sections 73 and the edge strips 9 protrude inwards. In the case of an airbag, the seams 70 and 71 are preferably also first produced. The hollow body, which is then closed on all sides, can be turned inside out through the generator mouth 34 , preferably using a suction tube. Inverting serves to protect the vehicle occupant, who then cannot come into contact with the relatively hard edge sections. In an airbag are preferably no relatively long sides as shown above and below in Fig. 10, vorhan the, but the seams 66 a and 67 a run close to each other.
If a hollow body is to be produced for other purposes, only one or none of the seams 70 , 71 is produced.
Fig. 11 shows in perspective the suitable for an airbag finished hollow body 49 , of which the upper outer layer 50 and the two gussets 52 and 52 a can be seen, while the generator mouth is in the lower outer layer and is not shown here. A form retaining band 75 , which is located behind the gusset 52 a, is indicated.
Figs. 13 to 16 show the first part of the second variant of the invention. Here it is not a fabric hose that is assumed, but a fabric web 82 . Fig. 13 shows the fabric web 82 running from a supply roll 80 , from which a web section 84 is cut along a cutting line 86 . The length of the web section 84 in the longitudinal direction of the web is dimensioned such that the sections indicated by dashed lines are to be accommodated, which should ultimately lead to the same hollow body 49 ( FIG. 11). 88 in FIG. 13 denotes a fold edge (“inner fold edge”). This corresponds to the folded edge 63 in Fig. 8. On both sides of this inner folded edge 88 so ei ne upper and a lower gusset layer 58 , 59 are formed, from there outward a lower and an upper outer layer corresponding to 51 and 50 in Fig. 8 and outside the two gusset layers 60 and 61 .
The web section 84 which has been cut off along a cutting edge 86 is folded around its folding edge 88 so that its two cutting edges 86 , 87 lie one above the other. The two layers are now sewn together on their left side in FIG. 13 (seam 90 ), so that a tube 92 is formed. The seam 90 is then pressed inward and a second seam 94 is produced outside the first seam ( FIG. 16). The seams are secured at their ends in a known manner against loosening.
Thus, a hose is again present, and the operations according to FIGS. 3 to 10 according to the first variant follow.
