Description
The present invention relates to an improved method for producing 4,4,5,5,5-pentafluoro-1-pentanol from perfluoroethyl iodide.
B. DE-A 41 32 182 und Tetrahedron Lett. 35, 9141 (1994)).4,4,5,5,5-pentafluoro-1-pentanol is a valuable intermediate for the manufacturer development of pharmaceuticals (see, for example, DE-A 41 32 182 and Tetrahedron Lett. 35, 9141 (1994)).
Three processes are known from the literature for the preparation of 4,4,5,5,5-pentafluoro-1- Pentanol known.
Two start from perfluoroethyl iodide and propargyl alcohol. After one (Tetrahedron Lett. Op. Cit.) Leads the initiated with sodium dithionite / sodium bicarbonate radical addition in good yield to 4,4,5,5,5-pentafluoro-2-iodo-2-pentene-1- oil. In the second step, this is then again in good yield in the presence of two equivalents of triethylamine and platinum oxide with hydrogen hydrogenated and dehalogenated immediately. The main disadvantage of this procedure is however, the amount of expensive platinum oxide required (2.5 g for less than 30 g per dukt).
According to the other method (DE-A 41 32 182 and WO 93/13123) the ultrasound-accelerated addition over that in the presence of zinc and copper (I) - iodide generated perfluoroalkyl cuprate to 4,4,5,5,5-pentafluoro-2-penten-1-ol, as in J. At the. Chem. Soc. 107, 5186 (1985). This is followed by one catalytic hydrogenation with platinum oxide (DE-A 41 32 182) or Raney nickel (WO 93/13123) as a catalyst. While here with 5% of the amount of catalyst compared to the above enthalogenating hydrogenation, here is the bad one Yield in the first reaction step of only 46% of theory Th. And the technically disadvantageous use of ultrasound.
Furthermore, there is a potential hazard in both processes due to the acetylene bond in Propargy alcohol, especially at the locally occurring high temperatures To consider ultrasound radiation.
The third process has three stages and is also based on perfluoroethyl iodide (Acta Chem. Scand. 47: 380 (1993)). One by 2,2-azo-bis-isobutyronitrile (AIBN) initiated radical addition to allyl acetate gives 5-acetoxy-4-iodo-1,1,1,2,2- pentafluoropentane, which is dehalogenated by free radicals with tributyltin hydride. The 5-Acetoxy-1,1,1,2,2-pentafluoropentane obtained is in the final step with Lye saponified. A disadvantage of this method is the higher number of reaks levels and the difficult to control and therefore practical on a larger scale impractical reaction with tributyltin hydride.
Chem. 26, 2089 (1981)). Die Ausbeute beträgt selbst nach 14 Tagen Reaktionszeit nur 55% d.Th.Finally, it is also known that pentafluoroethyl iodide with allyl alcohol in Can implement the presence of benzyl peroxide (J. Org. Chem. 26, 2089 (1981)). The Yield is only 55% of theory even after 14 days of reaction
A process for the preparation of 4,4,5,5,5-pentafluoro-1-pentanol has now been established Perfluoroethyl iodide found, which is characterized in that first Per fluoroethyl iodide in the presence of a radical initiator free of acyl groups on allyl alcohol added and then the 4,4,5,5,5-pentafluoro-2-iodo-1-pentanol thus obtained in Presence of a catalyst, an acid binder and a diluent hydrogenolytically dehalogenated, using the diluent, the acid binder medium and the catalyst, then hydrogen is printed and slowly 4,4,5,5,5-pentafluoro-2-iodo-1-pentanol was metered in.
The chemicals required as starting materials for the process according to the invention kalien Perfluoro-ethyl iodide and allyl alcohol are commercially available.

The process according to the invention has a number of surprising advantages. It is especially surprising that the addition of Pentafluoroethyl iodide on allyl alcohol succeeds in yields of over 75%. So that is 4,4,5,5,5-pentafluoro-1-pentanol is much more accessible than before.
