Description
The invention relates to a space-saving cell stack arrangement from solid oxide fuel cells. The cell voltage of a solid oxide Fuel cell made of bipolar plates is in the range of 0.7 V. Individual cells are therefore in cell stacks in Connected in series, for example in a stack with 40 cells, which then has a stack voltage of about 30 V. The single ones Stacks are connected in series to create one for inverters to achieve optimal voltage, for example 400 V. The gas flows from stacks are also advantageously in Series connected, d. H. cascaded to high gas utilization can be achieved with small thermal loads.
The electrical series connection and the cascading of the Stacks lead to complex connections; because the connection the gas connections to the individual stacks, the so-called Manifolds must match other manifolds' manifolds get connected. Because the performance of each stack of around 1 kW is comparatively small, many stacks need electrically and pneumatically connected to each other a fuel cell system with an output of some 100 to create kW.
The previously known solutions to the connection problem are voluminous and very complex, with automated processes can only be realized to a limited extent.
The invention has for its object in a stack Solid oxide fuel cells that are between 20 ° C and about 1000 ° C temperature expansions to be taken into account. In addition, the stacks of solid oxide fuel cells are said to supported and protected against leakage.
According to the invention, this object is achieved by means of of the features listed solved.
An example of the invention is illustrated by the drawing explained.
Dabei zeigt:It shows:
Fig. 1 die Zellstapelanordnung im Querschnitt; Fig. 1, the cell stack assembly in cross section;
Fig. 2 die Anordnung in Seitenansicht; Figure 2 shows the arrangement in side view.
Fig. 1 zeigt einen Querschnitt der Zellstapelanordnung. Fig. 1 shows a cross section of the cell stack assembly. The arrangement consists of 9 stack columns 1 a- 1 i ( Fig. 2), which consists of 3 layers of stacks. A stacking column builds perpendicular to it and is created by stacking stacks in such a way that the electrical current flows through a column from one stack to the next, which means a series connection perpendicular to the plane of the drawing in FIG. 1.
In Fig. 1, stacks at positions a, b and c form a row 2 on the far right in the figure, the stacks at location d, e and f the row 2 'and the stacks at positions g, h and i the row 2 '' Far left.
Each stacking column is connected to a feed pipe 3 a to 3 i for the fuel gas and to a pipe 4 a to 4 i for the used fuel gas (exhaust gas). In the case discussed here, however, the fuel gas flows through the stacks a, d, g of a horizontal row (in the figure the top row), the stacks are "cascaded".
The fuel gas enters, for example, the stack column 1 a through the pipe 3 a above and leaves this column through the pipe 4 a down. This tube, which leads to depleted fuel gas, is connected to the tube 3 d of the stacking column 1 d below. The fuel gas flows through this column upwards and leaves it through the tube 4 d above. The tube 4 d is connected at the top to the tube 3 g of the stacking column 1 g. The fuel gas flows through the stack column 1 g from above and leaves it through the tube 4 g below.
The oxygen-containing gas, preferably air, is passed through the rectangular windows 5 a, 5 b and 5 c in the compensation mat 8 u from the fresh air duct 6 through the stacks to the exhaust duct 7 . In Fig. 1 on the right in the row of stacks a, b, c one of the oxygen levels is removed from the three levels in order to show the fuel gas level underneath. The same applies in the remaining rows 2 'and 2 ''.
The stacking columns are electrically insulated from each other. The insulation means also serve to seal against leakage air. For this there are the leveling mats 8 u to 8 z, which are shown vertically in FIG. 1 and have already been mentioned, each of which has 9 windows for the air guidance and horizontally lying plates 9 and 9 'as end plates. As shown in Fig. 1 Darge, the boundary plates 10 and 10 'form the conclusion. The compensating elements 11 and 11 ', which are arranged as representatives or next to the gas guide channels, run perpendicular to the plane of the drawing and support, isolate and seal the columns against each other. The compensating elements 11 are made of a similar material to the tubes 3 and 4 . The strips 11 'consist of a ceramic felt.
The insulating or sealing means are preferably felts made of an oxide, e.g. B. from aluminum umoxid.
They also serve to compensate for different thermal expansions of the stacks. They are elastic and also serve as a sliding layer.
The channels 6 and 7 are in a further embodiment of the invention from a porous metal oxide foam, for. B. made of aluminum oxide. These bodies are thermally insulated by insulating shells 12 and 12 'and held together by a metallic shell, which advantageously consists of two half shells 13 and 13 '. Springs 14 ensure an approximately constant joining force.
The stacks of a stacking column ( FIG. 2) are already connected in an electrically conductive manner to one another via contact surfaces by means of an intermediate layer 21 after stacking. The contact force is produced by that each stacking column, which (as shown in Fig. 2) is completed by a contact plate 15 upwards, which borders on a common Iso lierplatte 16 for all stacking columns. This is pressed downwards by elastic buffers 17 a to 17 c acting as springs via thermal insulation blocks 18 a to 18 c. These buffers also absorb thermal expansion; Each stacking column therefore has its own buffer 17 a to 17 c and its thermal insulation block 18 a to 18 c. Only row 2 is described here and shown in FIG. 2 . The same applies to the rows 2 'and 2 ''.
The insulating plate 16 and the thermal insulation blocks 18 have cutouts for the electrical connections 19 and the pipe connections 20 .
