Description
An important property of electrical contact pieces for low-voltage contacts is a low and stable transition or contact resistance. The contact resistance is generally worsened by ehe African reactions of the contact material, which lead to insulating reaction products on the surface of the contact piece. Sn form z. B. on the surface; 'te of copper contact pieces from the sulfur or the oxygen in the surrounding air, copper sulfide or copper oxide, through which the contact resistance can be increased up to complete insulation.
It is customary to influence the properties of electrical contact pieces, in particular also the contact resistance, as favorably as possible, taking into account the respective application of the contact piece, by a suitable choice of the contact material. Alloys and composites are often used as contact material. Among other things, a sintered composite of silver and nickel has already been specified as a contact material as advantageous for high-voltage contacts. It is also already commercially available pure nickel in a degree of purity of up to 99.6 ° ο known as a contact material. However, because of its hardness, such nickel should only be used occasionally for sliding and rubbing contacts when the high contact resistance of commercially available nickel is of minor importance. So far, commercial nickel has essentially only been used for high-voltage contacts.
The invention is based on the object of specifying a contact piece for low-current electrical contacts which, despite operation in a corrosive atmosphere, ensures a low and stable contact resistance.
This object is achieved in that, according to the invention, the contact piece as a whole, including the contact-making surface, is made of nickel with a degree of purity of at least 99.9 ° o. Another solution to the problem based on the same inventive idea consists in a contact piece whose base body, on which a support or embedding of a gold alloy of very low strength is provided, consists of nickel with a purity of at least 99.9 ° u. The stated degree of purity is a minimum size: preferably the nickel of the
