Description
TECHNISCHES GEBIET DER ERFINDUNGTECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The invention relates to a phosphor with a β-Si 3 N 4 crystal structure, a method for its production and its use. More specifically, the use in a lighting device and an image display device utilizing the properties of the phosphor, that is, the properties of generating a green fluorescent light having a maximum of to emit emitted light at wavelengths between 500 nm and 600 nm.
TECHNISCHER HINTERGRUND DER ERFINDUNGTECHNICAL BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
A phosphor is used in a vacuum fluorescent display tube (VFD), a field emission display (FED), a plasma display panel (PDP), a cathode ray tube (CRT), a white light emitting diode (LED), and the like. In each of these applications, in order for a phosphor to emit light, the phosphor must be supplied with energy to excite the phosphor, and a phosphor emits a visible light by being excited by a high-energy excitation source including vacuum ultraviolet light, ultraviolet light, an electron beam, blue light, and the like is encouraged. However, as a result of irradiation of a phosphor by such an energy source as described above, the luminance and the quality of the phosphor tend to decrease, and therefore there is a demand for a phosphor with less luminance decrease. Therefore, instead of a conventional phosphor, such as. B. a silicate phosphor, a phosphate phosphor, an aluminate phosphor, a sulfide phosphor, a sialon phosphor have been proposed.

The present invention is defined by the features of the independent claims. The dependent claims relate to advantageous embodiments.
As a result of constant in-depth studies of nitrides containing elements such as B. contain Eu and Si, Al, O and N, the inventors have found that a nitride having a certain composition range, a certain solid solution state and a certain crystal phase becomes a phosphor with a maximum of the emitted light within a wavelength range of 500 nm to 600 nm. That is, the inventors have found that a solid solution crystal or mixed crystal which has nitride or oxynitride having β-Si 3 N 4 crystal structure as a base crystal and to which divalent Eu ions are added as light emission centers becomes a phosphor which emits light with a Maximum emitted within a wavelength range of 500 nm to 600 nm. The inventors have found that, among other things, a β-sialon synthesized at a temperature of 1820° C. or more produces a green fluorescent light of good color purity and with emits a maximum in the wavelength range from 500 nm to 550 nm.
A β-Si 3 N 4 crystal structure has P6 3 or P6 3 /m symmetry and is defined as a structure having an ideal atomic position shown in Table 1 (see Non-patent Document 1). As the nitride or oxynitride having this crystal structure, β-Si 3 N 4 β-Ge 3 N 4 , β-sialon (Si 6-z Al z O z N 8-z where 0≦z≦4.2), and the like are known. In addition, it is known that β-sialon does not incorporate a metal element as a solid solution in its crystal at a synthesis temperature of 1700°C or less, and a metal oxide added as a sintering accelerator remains and forms a glass phase in a grain boundary. In the case of incorporating a metal element into a sialon crystal, an α-sialon described in

β-Si3N4 und β-Sialon sind als hitzebeständiges Material untersucht worden, und die Beschreibung der Einlagerung eines optisch aktiven Elements als festen Festlösungskristall in diesen Kristall und der Verwendung des Mischkristalls als Leuchtstoff bezieht sich einfach auf die Untersuchung bestimmter Elemente in Patentdokument 5.β-Si 3 N 4 and β-sialon have been studied as a heat-resistant material, and the description of incorporating an optically active element as a solid solution crystal in this crystal and using the mixed crystal as a phosphor simply refers to the study of certain elements in
According to

Auswirkung der ErfindungImpact of the Invention
Due to the solid solution of a crystal phase of nitride or oxynitride with β-Si 3 N 4 crystal structure contained therein as a main component, a phosphor according to the invention has a higher intensity of the light emitted in the wavelength range from 500 nm to 600 nm than a conventional sialon or oxynitride phosphor and is more usable as a green phosphor. This phosphor provides a nitride usable as a usable phosphor preferably in VFD, FED, PDP, CRT, white LED, without lowering its luminance even in the case of irradiation with an excitation source.

BESTE AUSFÜHRUNGSART DER ERFINDUNGBEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION
Embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail below.
A phosphor of the present invention contains as a main component a solid solution of a crystal phase of nitride or oxynitride having β-Si 3 N 4 crystal structure (hereinafter referred to as β-Si 3 N 4 group crystal). A crystal of β-Si 3 N 4 group can be identified by X-ray diffraction or neutron diffraction, and besides a substance showing the same diffraction as pure β-Si 3 N 4 , there also belongs a substance whose lattice constant is changed by exchanging one contained therein Element is varied by another element to the crystal of β-Si 3 N 4 group. Further, depending on the shape of the solid solution or solid solution, a point fault, planar fault or stacking fault is introduced into a crystal, and a solid solution intercalated element may be contained in a disturbed part in a grain, but a substance in which the shape of a chart obtained by X-ray diffraction is not changed is a crystal of β-Si 3 N 4 group. Further, a substance having a β-Si 3 N 4 crystal structure as a basic structure even in the case of forming a polycrystal having a long-period structure due to a periodicity of impurity generation is a crystal of the β-Si 3 N 4 group.
In einem realen Kristall weicht die Lage jedes Atoms je nach der Art jedes Atoms, das seine Position besetzt, um einen Grad von ±0,05 von seiner idealen Lage ab.Accordingly, a pure β-Si 3 N 4 crystal structure belongs to a hexagonal system with P6 3 or P6 3 /m symmetry and is a crystal defined as a structure having an ideal atomic position as shown in Table 1 (see non-patent document 1). In a real crystal, the position of each atom deviates from its ideal position by a degree of ±0.05, depending on the type of each atom occupying its position.
Although its lattice constant is a=0.7595 nm and c=0.29023 nm, the lattice constant is changed by replacing Si as a component of the crystal with another element, such as silicon. Al, or that N is replaced by another element, such as O, or that a metal element, such as Eu, is intercalated as a mixed crystal but its crystal structure, a lattice site occupied by the atom, and the atomic position given by its coordinates become not changed much. If therefore a lattice constant and a face index (or Miller index) of a pure β-Si 3 N 4 crystal are given, the location of a diffraction peak (20) is uniquely determined by X-ray diffraction. And when a lattice constant calculated from the result of X-ray diffraction measured for a new substance and position data of a diffraction peak (20) calculated using an area index agree with each other as shown in Table 4, the crystal structure can be regarded as identical.
As the nitride or oxynitride crystal having β-Si 3 N 4 crystal structure, β-Si 3 N 4 , β-Ge 3 N 4 , β-C 3 N 4 and a mixed crystal thereof can be mentioned without specifying any particular substance which has the same crystal structure as a nitride or oxynitride crystal having a β-Si 3 N 4 crystal structure. As a mixed crystal, in the Si position of a β-Si 3 N 4 crystal structure, Si can be replaced with an element such as C, Si, Ge, Sn, B, Al, Ga or In, and in the N position, N can be replaced with an element such as O or N can be exchanged. The exchange of these elements includes a simultaneous exchange of not only one kind of element but two or more kinds of elements. Of these crystals, β-Si 3 N 4 and β-sialon (Si 6-z Al z O z N 8-z , where 0<z<4.2) provide particularly high luminance.
In the present invention, it is desirable that a nitride or oxynitride crystal phase having a β-Si 3 N 4 crystal structure as a main component is contained in as high a purity as possible and is formed of a single phase as possible, but within a range where its properties do not deteriorate, may consist of a mixture with another crystal phase or an amorphous phase. In this case, in order to obtain high luminance, it is desirable that the content of the contained nitride or oxynitride crystal phase having β-Si 3 N 4 crystal structure is 50% by weight or more. In the present invention, the range of a main component in terms of the content of a nitride or oxynitride crystal phase having a β-Si 3 N 4 crystal structure is at least 50% by weight or more.
By using a nitride or oxynitride crystal having a β-Si 3 N 4 crystal structure as a base crystal and incorporating a metal element Eu as a mixed crystal in the base crystal, divalent Eu ions act as light emission centers and exhibit the fluorescence properties. Further, a β-sialon crystal containing Eu, that is, a crystal containing Al and Eu exhibits an excellent light emission property particularly of green light.
A phosphor of the present invention emits a fluorescent light having a maximum in a wavelength range of 500 nm to 600 nm by irradiation with an excitation source. An emission light spectrum having a maximum within this range emits a green light. Among other things, the color of emitted light in a sharply shaped spectrum with a maximum in a wavelength range from 500 nm to 550 nm is a green color, which in terms of the value (x, y) of the CIE tristimulus coordinates has the
As an excitation source of the phosphor, light having a wavelength of 100 nm to 500 nm (vacuum ultraviolet ray, far ultraviolet ray, ultraviolet ray, near ultraviolet ray, violet to blue visible light), an electron beam, X-ray and the like cause the emission of fluorescent light with high luminance.
In the present invention, a nitride or oxynitride crystal having β-Si 3 N 4 crystal structure is not particularly specified in kind of its composition, but a phosphor having a high content of nitride or oxynitride content having β-Si 3 N 4 crystal structure and with high luminance can be obtained by the following composition.
Wenn der Wert a größer als 0,1 ist, verringert sich die Leuchtdichte wegen der durch Interferenz zwischen Eu-Ionen verursachten Extinktion."a" represents the proportion in which the element Eu is added as a light-emitting center, and its atomic ratio is preferably not less than 0.00001 and not more than 0.1. Since the number of Eu atoms provided as light emission centers is small, if the value is less than 0.00001, the luminance of emitted light decreases. When the value a is larger than 0.1, the luminance decreases because of absorbance caused by interference between Eu ions.
Preferably b=0.429. When the value b is outside this range, bonding in a crystal becomes unstable and the rate of formation of crystal phases other than a β-Si 3 N 4 crystal structure is increased, and thereby the intensity of emitted green light is decreased.
Preferably c=0.571. If the value c is outside this range, bonding in a crystal becomes unstable and the rate of formation of crystal phases other than a β-Si 3 N 4 crystal structure is increased, and thereby the intensity of emitted green light is decreased.
"b 2 " is the Al content, and its atomic ratio is preferably not less than 0.001 and not more than 0.3. In addition, the sum of the values b 1 and b 2 is preferably not less than 0.41 and not greater than 0.44, and more preferably equal to 0.429. If the values of b 1 and b 2 are outside this range, the rate of formation of crystal phases other than β-sialon is increased, and thereby the intensity of green light emitted is decreased.
"c 2 " is the nitrogen content, and its atomic ratio is preferably not less than 0.54 and not more than 0.62. In addition, the sum of the values c 1 and c 2 is preferably not less than 0.56 and not more than 0.59. More preferred is c=0.571. If the values of c 1 and c 2 are out of this range, the rate of formation of crystal phases other than β-sialon is increased, and thereby the intensity of emitted green light is decreased.
Further, these compositions may contain elements other than impurities in a range where the properties are not deteriorated. Impurities that deteriorate the light emission characteristics are Fe, Co, Ni and the like, and when the sum of these three elements exceeds 500 ppm, the luminance of the emitted light decreases.
In the present invention, it is desirable that a crystal phase is formed of a single nitride or oxynitride crystal phase having a β-Si 3 N 4 crystal structure, but it may be formed of a single crystal within a range where the properties do not deteriorate Mixture with another crystal phase or amorphous phase are formed. In this case, in order to obtain high luminance, it is preferable that the content of the contained nitride or oxynitride crystal phase having a β-Si 3 N 4 crystal structure is 50% by weight or more.
The range of a main component in the present invention is at least 50% by weight in terms of the content of a nitride or oxynitride crystal phase having a β-Si 3 N 4 crystal structure. The content fraction can be determined by performing an X-ray diffraction measurement and comparing the peaks with the highest intensity of a nitride or oxynitride crystal phase having a β-Si 3 N 4 crystal structure with other crystal phases.
A phosphor formed from a mixture with another crystal phase or amorphous phase can be mixed with an electrically conductive inorganic substance. In the case of excitation of a phosphor according to the invention with an electron beam in a vacuum fluorescent display tube (VFD), a plasma display panel (FED) and the like, it is preferable that the phosphor has some conductivity to discharge electrons to the outside without the electrons on the phosphor remain.
As the electrically conductive materials, there can be mentioned oxide, oxynitride, nitride or a mixture thereof containing one, two or more kinds of elements selected from Zn, Ga, In and Sn. Among others, indium oxide and indium tin oxide (ITO) are more preferable because they less decrease fluorescence intensity and have higher conductivity.
Although the form of a phosphor of the present invention is not specifically specified, in the case where it is used as a powder, the phosphor is preferably a single crystal having an average grain diameter of 50 nm to 20 μm in order to obtain high luminance. Further, a single crystal having an average aspect ratio (value of major axis length of a grain divided by minor axis length) of 1.5 to 20 provides even higher luminance. An average grain diameter of more than 20 µm is not preferable because it makes the phosphor poorly dispersible when used in a lighting device or an image display device.
Phosphor powder with an average grain diameter of less than 50 nm becomes difficult to process due to clumping of the powder. A single crystal grain having an average aspect ratio (value of the major axis length of a grain divided by the minor axis length) of 1.5 or more provides a particularly high luminance light. This single crystal grain incorporates a relatively larger proportion of metal elements such as Eu into a β-silicon nitride crystal structure during crystal growth, and provides high luminance because of a small proportion of impurities which impede fluorescence and relatively high light transmittance. However, an aspect ratio of more than 20 is not preferable from the environmental point of view because of generation of needle crystals. In such a case, it is sufficient to grind the needle crystals using a production method according to the invention.
A manufacturing method of a phosphor of the present invention is not specified in detail, but the following method can be mentioned as an example.
A raw material mixture, which is a mixture of metal compounds and can form the composition Eu a Si b Al c O d N e by firing, is fired in a nitrogen atmosphere. Since the optimum firing temperature differs depending on the composition, it can be prescribed unconditionally, but in general, a green phosphor is stably obtained within a temperature range of 1820°C to 2200°C. Since at a firing temperature lower than 1820°C, the element Eu intended as a light emission center remains in a grain boundary containing much oxygen without being intercalated as a solid solution in a nitride or oxynitride crystal having a β-Si 3 N 4 crystal structure the result is light emission with oxide glass as the base material, and emits a short wavelength light such as blue without providing a green fluorescent light. According to
A mixture of metal compounds may preferably be a mixture of an Eu-containing metal compound selected from metal, oxide, carbonate, nitride or oxynitride of Eu and a silicon nitride and aluminum nitride. These have the advantage that they are produced as industrial raw materials and are easily available in addition to their excellent reactivity and their ability to provide a highly pure compound.
B. Li, Na, K, Mg, Ca, Sr oder Ba.In order to improve reactivity during a firing process, an inorganic compound which forms a liquid phase at a temperature not higher than the firing temperature may be added to a mixture of metal compounds as needed. As the inorganic compound, an inorganic compound which forms a stable liquid phase at a reaction temperature is preferable, and a fluoride, chloride, iodide, bromide or phosphate of an element such as e.g. B. Li, Na, K, Mg, Ca, Sr or Ba.
Further, these inorganic compounds may be added singly or as a mixture of two or more kinds of the compounds. Among other things, calcium fluoride is suitable because of its great ability to improve reactivity in synthesis. Although the amount of inorganic compounds added is not specifically prescribed, a weight ratio of 0.1 to 10 to 100 of the inorganic compound to a metal compound serving as a starting raw material is particularly effective.
A weight ratio of less than 0.1 causes little improvement in reactivity, and a weight ratio of more than 10 lowers the luminance of a phosphor. Addition and firing of these inorganic compounds improve reactivity, grow a single crystal having a large grain diameter in a comparatively short time by promoting grain growth, and improve luminance of a phosphor. Furthermore, by reducing the proportion of inorganic compounds contained in a reactant obtained by firing by cleaning the fired mixture with a solvent to dissolve the inorganic compounds after firing, the luminance of the phosphor is improved. As such a solvent, there can be mentioned water, ethanol, sulfuric acid, hydrofluoric acid and a mixture of sulfuric acid and hydrofluoric acid.
The nitrogen atmosphere is preferably a gas atmosphere within a pressure range of 0.1 MPa to 100 MPa. More preferably, the pressure is not lower than 0.5 MPa and not higher than 10 MPa. In the case of using a silicon nitride as a raw material, when heating at a temperature of 1820°C or more, a nitrogen atmosphere with a pressure of less than 0.1 MPa is not preferable because the material is thermally decomposed. When the pressure is higher than 0.5 MPa, the raw material is hardly decomposed. A pressure of 10 MPa is sufficient, but a pressure of 100 MPa or more requires a special device and is not suitable for industrial production.
According to a method of filling a container with a metal compound in the form of powder or aggregate, wherein the volume density of the metal compound is maintained at a filling factor of 40% or less and the metal compound is then fired, particularly high luminance can be obtained. Using a fine-grained powder with a grain diameter of a few microns as the starting raw material, a mixture of metal compounds that have undergone a mixing process forms a form in which fine-grained powder with a grain diameter of a few microns aggregates to a size of several hundred microns to a few millimeters ( referred to as powder aggregate). According to the present invention, a powder aggregate is fired in a state of having a filling factor of 40% or less in terms of its volume density.
That is, while in a conventional sialon manufacturing method, a firing process is performed at a high filling factor of powder after hot pressing or compression molding in a metal mold, in the present invention, a container is filled with a powder aggregate mixture having a uniform grain size because of its volume density -Filling factor is 40% or less without previously press-molding the powder aggregate using metal molds or the like. If required, the grain size of the powder aggregate can be controlled by the method by producing grains with an average grain diameter of 500 μm or less by means of sieving or air classification. Further, the powder aggregate can be directly processed into grains of 500 μm or less by means of a spray dryer and the like. In addition, a container made of boron nitride has the advantage that it is less reactive with a phosphor.
The reason that a firing process is performed while keeping the volume density filling factor at 40% or less is that when a firing process is performed in a state where there is a vacant space around the raw material powder, due to the fact that reaction products grow into a crystal in free space, the crystals come into less contact with each other, and a crystal having fewer surface defects can be synthesized. Thanks to this fact, a high luminance phosphor can be obtained. A volume density of 40% or more partially generates densification during a firing process, leading to the formation of a dense sin terguts, hinders crystal growth and reduces the luminance of a phosphor. In addition, fine-grained powder cannot be obtained. Further, the size of the powder aggregate is particularly preferably 500 μm or less because of its excellent grindability after firing.
Next, the powder aggregate having a filling factor of 40% or less is fired under the above-mentioned conditions. Because of the high firing temperature and the nitrogen firing atmosphere, a furnace to be used in a firing process is preferably a metal or graphite resistance-heated electric furnace using carbon as a material for a high-temperature portion of the furnace. A firing process is preferably a sintering process, such as. B. a normal pressure sintering method, a gas pressure sintering method in which no external mechanical pressure is applied because of firing while maintaining a high volume density.
If a powder aggregate obtained by firing is solidly hardened, the powder aggregate is ground by a grinder such as that used in e.g. B. is usually used in a factory as a ball mill, jet mill. Among other things, ball milling makes it easier to control grain size. A ball and a container used therein are preferably made of silicon nitride sinter or sialon sinter. More preferably, they are made of ceramic sinter having the same composition as the phosphor to be produced. The grinding process is carried out until an average grain size of 20 μm or less is reached. More preferably, the mean grain size is not less than 20 nm and not more than 5 µm. When the mean grain size exceeds 20 µm, the flowability and dispersibility of the powder in resin deteriorate, and when molding a light emitting device in combination with a light emitting element, luminous intensity becomes uneven depending on the parts. A mean grain size of 20 nm or less deteriorates the handleability of the powder. If a desired grain size cannot be achieved by grinding alone, grinding can be combined with classification or sifting. As the classification method, a sieving method, an air classification method, a liquid precipitation method can be used.
As a classification method in grinding, acid treatment can be performed. In many cases, a powder aggregate obtained by firing is in a state where nitride or oxynitride single crystals having a β-Si 3 N 4 crystal structure are hardened in a grain boundary phase and have a minute portion of a glass phase as their main component . In this case, when the powder aggregate is immersed in an acid having a specific composition, the grain boundary phase having a glass phase as a main component is selectively dissolved, and single crystals are separated. Because of this, each grain is obtained not as an aggregate of single crystals but as a grain composed of a single crystal of nitride or oxynitride having a β-Si 3 N 4 crystal structure. Such a grain provides a particularly high luminance phosphor because it is composed of a single crystal having fewer surface defects.
As an effective acid for this treatment, there can be mentioned hydrofluoric acid, sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid and a mixture of hydrofluoric acid and sulfuric acid. Among others, a mixture of hydrofluoric acid and sulfuric acid is very effective in removing the glass phase.
Although fine-grained phosphor powder can be obtained by the above method, heat treatment further improves the luminance. In this case, powder after firing or powder after grain size regulation by grinding or classification may be heat treated at a temperature not lower than 1000°C and not higher than the firing temperature. A temperature lower than 1000°C reduces the effect of removing surface defects. A temperature not lower than the firing temperature is not preferable because of the fact that ground powder is hardened again. An atmosphere suitable for the heat treatment varies according to the composition of a phosphor, but a mixed atmosphere consisting of one component or two or more components selected from nitrogen, air, ammonia and hydrogen, and particularly a nitrogen atmosphere, can be used preferable because of its excellent effect of removing defects.
A nitride according to the invention obtained as described above is characterized in that it has a broader excitation range from ultraviolet radiation to visible light compared to a conventional oxide phosphor or an existing sialon phosphor, a green light with a maximum within a range of 500 emits nm to 600 nm and is suitable for a lighting device and an image display device. In addition, it has an excellent It has low heat resistance because it is not decomposed even when exposed to high temperature, and also has excellent long-term stability under oxidizing atmosphere and in humid environment.

B. B. GaN, InGaN, and by regulating their composition can become a light-emitting source that emits light of a specific wavelength.

An image display device in which a phosphor according to the invention can be used according to the invention consists of at least one excitation source and a phosphor according to the invention and includes a vacuum fluorescent display tube (VFD), a field emission display (FED), a plasma display panel (PDP), a cathode ray tube (CRT) and the like . Next, the present invention will be explained in more detail based on the embodiments shown below.
As raw material powders, silicon nitride powder having an average grain size of 0.5 µm and containing 0.93% by weight of oxygen and 92% of α-silicon nitride, aluminum nitride powder having a specific surface area of 3.3 m 2 /g and an oxygen content of 0, 79% and europium oxide powder with a purity of 99.9% is used.
To obtain a compound represented by a compositional formula Eu 0.00296 Si 0.41395 Al 0.01334 O 0.00444 N 0.56528 (the intended composition is shown in Table 2, and the mixture composition and firing temperature of the raw material powder are shown in Table 3), the silicon nitride powder, the aluminum nitride powder and the europium oxide powder were weighed so that their proportions were 94.7% by weight, 2.68% by weight and 2.556% by weight, respectively, and were ground in a wet ball mill mixed using a silicon nitride sinter container and silicon nitride sinter balls and n-hexane for two hours.
Dried mixture powder was obtained by removing n-hexane using a rotary evaporator. A powder aggregate with excellent flowability was obtained by grinding the mixture obtained using an agate mortar and pestle and then passing the ground mixture through a 500 μm sieve. When this powder aggregate was placed in a crucible made of boron nitride of 20 mm in diameter and 20 mm in height by natural falling, the volume density was 30 vol%. The bulk density was calculated from the weight of the powder aggregate placed in the crucible and the capacity of the crucible.
Next, the crucible was placed in a resistance-heated graphite electric furnace.
The compositional analysis of this powder was carried out by the following method. First, in this method, a 50 mg sample was placed in a platinum crucible, 0.5 g of sodium carbonate and 0.2 g of boric acid were added to the sample, the sample was heated and melted, and then the sample was dissolved in 2 ml of hydrochloric acid to determine a solution for the measurement with a constant volume of 100 ml. In the method, the amounts of Si, Al, Eu and Ca in the powder sample were quantitatively determined by performing inductively coupled plasma (ICP) light emission spectroscopic analysis on this liquid sample. Also in the method, a 20 mg sample was placed in a tin capsule, and oxygen and nitrogen were quantitated in the powder sample by placing this capsule in a nickel basket and using a LECO Model TC-436 Oxygen and Nitrogen Analyzer. Inc., was measured.
Die Messung durch ICP-Lichtemissionsspektroskopieanalyse und den Sauerstoff- und Stickstoffanalysator lieferte als Ergebnis 2,16 ± 0,02 Gew.-% Eu, 55,6 ± 0,1 Gew.-% Si, 1,64 ± 0,1 Gew.-% Al, 38,0 ± 0,1 Gew.-% N und 2,1 ± 0,1 Gew.-% O.Further, in order to quantitatively determine the content of impurities, ie minute content of components in the powder, in the method, the amounts of impurities B, Fe, Ca, Mg, Al and Cr were quantitatively determined by dividing 50 mg of the sample and 50 mg of graphite powder were mixed and stuffed into a graphite electrode, and a CID-DCA light emission spectrum analyzer manufactured by Japan Jarel-Ash Co. was used. The measurement by ICP light emission spectroscopy analysis and the Sauer substance and nitrogen analyzer gave as a result 2.16 ± 0.02 wt% Eu, 55.6 ± 0.1 wt% Si, 1.64 ± 0.1 wt% Al, 38.0 ± 0.1 wt% N and 2.1 ± 0.1 wt% O
The composition (represented by the number of atoms) of the synthesized inorganic compound calculated from the analysis result of all elements is Eu 0.00290 Si 0.40427 Al 0.01210 O 0.02679 N 0.55391 . This is a particularly high oxygen content compared to the proposed composition shown in Table 2 (Eu 0.00296 Si 0.41395 Al 0.01334 O 0.00444 N 0.56528 ). This is caused by oxygen impurities contained in silicon nitride and aluminum nitride used as raw materials. A sialon composition according to the present invention is normally a composition Si 6-z Al z O z N 8-z (where 0 < z < 4.2), but a composition in which part of the N component in this composition is replaced by O is also within the scope of the present invention, and in such a case, a high luminance green phosphor can also be obtained.
Ferner wurden durch die CID-DCA-Lichtemissionsspektralanalyse 0,009 Gew.-% Y, 0,001 Gew.-% B, 0,003 Gew.-% Fe, 0,001 Gew.-% oder weniger Ca, 0,001 Gew.-% oder weniger Mg und 0,001 Gew.-% oder weniger Cr als Verunreinigungselemente nachgewiesen.Further, by the CID-DCA light emission spectrum analysis, 0.009 wt% Y, 0.001 wt% B, 0.003 wt% Fe, 0.001 wt% or less Ca, 0.001 wt% or less Mg and 0.001 wt% % or less Cr detected as impurity elements.

The CL image shows that a part observed as white is a part emitting light of 530 nm, and the whiter the black and white gradation is, the more intense a green light emitted is.

A phosphor having such properties has not been reported before, and the phosphor has been found for the first time by the inventors.
The intensity of the emitted light at the maximum was 3948 counts. As a unit, the count value has an arbitrary unit due to the deviation according to the measuring device or the measuring conditions. That is, count values can be compared with each other only in the working examples and comparative examples measured under the same conditions. The CIE chromaticity of light emitted by excitation at 303 nm was a green color with x=0.32, y=0.64.
In order to obtain a composition shown in Table 2 using the same raw material powder as in Example 1, the silicon nitride powder, the aluminum nitride powder and the europium oxide powder were each weighed in the prescribed amounts and were subjected to a wet ball mill using a container made of silicon nitride sinter and balls made of silicon nitride sinter and n-hexane were mixed together for two hours.
Dried mixture powder was obtained by removing n-hexane using a rotary evaporator. A powder aggregate excellent in flowability was obtained by grinding the obtained mixture with an agate mortar and pestle and then passing the ground mixture through a 500 μm sieve.
This powder aggregate was poured into a boron nitride crucible having a diameter of 20 mm and a height of 20 mm by natural falling. Next, the crucible was placed in a resistance-heated graphite electric furnace. In a firing process, a vacuum firing atmosphere was first created with the aid of a diffusion pump, the crucible was heated from room temperature to 800°C at a heating rate of 500°C/h, nitrogen with a purity of 99.999% by volume was introduced at 800°C, to generate a pressure of 1 MPa, the crucible was heated to 1900°C or 2000°C at a heating rate of 500°C/h and held at 1900°C or 2000°C for 2 hours.
A powdery inorganic compound was prepared by a similar method as in Working Examples 2 to 24 except for the compositions and firing temperatures shown in Tables 2, 3.
Comparative example 1 has a composition close to working example 14 but does not contain Eu. An inorganic compound obtained by firing at 2000°C for 2 hours was a β-sialon with z=0.5, but since it did not contain Eu, it emitted even when excited by a light of 200 nm to 500 nm no light at all.

In order to synthesize a β-sialon with z=3 containing Eu in the composition Si 3 Al 2.97 Eu 0.03 O 8.03 N 4.97 48.828% by weight Si 3 N 4 powder, 13.84% by weight of AlN powder, 35.49% by weight of Al 2 O 3 powder and 1.84% by weight of Eu 2 O 3 powder and based on the same method and the same Proceeding as in Example 1, a mixed powder was produced. This was fired for 3 hours at 1550°C in a nitrogen atmosphere of 1 atm, that is, under the firing conditions described in Working Example 23 of

The obtained fired material was lightly ground using a silicon nitride agate mortar, and then about 5 g of its powder was placed in a beaker made of Teflon and 380 ml of distilled water, 10 ml of hydrofluoric acid (manufactured by Wakojunyaku Co., special grade, concentration 46%) and 10 ml of sulfuric acid additive (manufactured by Wakojunyaku Co., special grade, concentration 95%), and was stirred and mixed by a magnetic stirrer for 2 hours. Thereafter, the acids were removed by cleaning with distilled water.

A nitride phosphor according to the present invention is a nitride phosphor which is preferably used in a vacuum fluorescent display tube (VFD), a field emission display (FED), a plasma display panel (PDP), a cathode ray tube (CRT), a white light emitting diode (LED) because it is different from a conventional one Sialon phosphor and oxynitride phosphor emits a green light and further exhibits less luminance reduction of the phosphor when irradiated with an excitation light source. Thereafter, it is expected that this phosphor will be widely used in material design for various display devices and contribute to the development of the industry.
