Description
The invention relates to a silver salt diffusion transfer photographic process for halogen silver, in the case of the undeveloped halogen silver of an emulsion layer in the form of a complex one, true to image Silver compound by imbibition on a precipitation or nucleation layer for the silver is transferred for the purpose of generating a positive image in it.
It is known to carry out such processes in such a way that one has an exposed emulsion layer with developed a developer solution containing a solvent for the halogen silver, and that one then bringing the emulsion layer into contact with a second layer containing a silver precipitating agent, so that the undeveloped halogen silver can be transferred to the second in the form of a silver complex Layer is transferred and results in an image on this.
Solche Verfahren sind auch unter Verwendung von — Mehrschichtanordnungen durchgeführt worden, wobeiSuch methods have also been carried out using multilayer arrangements, where
z. B. a carrier carries two layers of gelatin of different solubility; z. B. may be adjacent to the Support arranged layer contain the silver precipitating agent and be harder than the outside arranged Gelatin layer containing halogen silver. After exposing such a material, you develop with it the developer containing the halogenated silver solvent and receives a silver positive in the hardened, the gelatin layer containing the silver precipitant, on which the negative silver image containing outer emulsion layer washes away, so only the positive silver image on the support remains.
A halogen silver diffusion transfer method has been provided in which a Multi-layer material is used, which consists of a silver precipitation layer on a support and one over This layer is arranged halogen silver emulsion, in which the halogen silver evenly in an alkali-soluble, acid-insoluble, carboxylated cellulose derivative such as cellulose ether phthalate is. After exposing such a material and developing it with a developer solution containing a If it contains solvents for halogen silver, the undeveloped halogen silver will be in the form of a soluble one The complex is transferred to the silver precipitation layer, and then it becomes the original negative Layer containing silver image washed off, leaving a positive silver image on the support.
Um dieser Erscheinung entgegenzutreten, ist es bereits bekannt, diese Diffusionsübertragungsverfahren in Gegenwart Photographisdies Silbersalz-Diffusionsübertragungsverfahren Halogen silver diffusion transfer processes of the type described above have the common disadvantage that silver images are created that are brown and not, as desired, tinted neutrally. To this To counteract this phenomenon, it is already known to use this diffusion transfer process in the presence Photographis the silver salt diffusion transfer process

It has now been shown that when using the halide silver diffusion transfer process are carried out in the presence of certain nitroindazoles, a significant improvement in the image tone, i.e. H. a dark the silver images. Nitroindazoles are already for use in photographic material has been proposed as an antifoggant. However, no distinction was made between the different indazoles or nitroindazoles with regard to their influence on the image tone of the silver images, certainly not in connection with halogen silver transfer processes. It has now but showed that only 5- and 6-nitro- and 5,6-dinitroindazole to achieve black-tinted silver images in Diffusion transfer processes are effective when used in emulsions or developer solutions be, whereas z. The object of the invention is therefore a method in which the use of at least one of the three mentioned Nitroindazole in halogen silver diffusion transfer process to improve tone the resulting silver images is made possible.
The object is achieved by using at least one of the particular nitroindazoles mentioned in developer solutions, emulsion layers, silver precipitation layers or other layers sensitive to light Material that is used in diffusion transfer processes, and that one at the diffusion transfer process uses such developers and / or material.
To 183 g of a chlorosilver emulsion with a content of 0.05 mol of halosilver is added 50 ml of one 4% aqueous gelatin solution, 16 ml water, 20 ml of a 0.75% aqueous solution of 5-nitroindazole, 10 ml of a 7.5% strength aqueous saponin solution and 0.76 ml of a 20% strength formaldehyde solution. These Mixture is applied as a layer on photographic paper of single thickness in one thickness of 1 mole of halogen silver per approximately 46.5 square meters. The layer is exposed to the one given below Treated developer solution and with the receiving layer also defined below in a commercially available Compressed device for halogen silver diffusion transfer process. That the Emulsion-bearing paper is stuck from the receiving surface 30 seconds after it has come out Material withdrawn from the machine. The positive image obtained on the recording surface shows a dark brown-black, compared with the greenish-brown color that arises when the 5-nitroindazole is omitted.

In the described halogen silver diffusion transfer process in which the special nitroindazole can be used, the silver precipitating layer, in which the silver image is created, as a silver precipitant Sulfides, selenides, polysulfides, polyselenides, thiourea, mercaptans, tin (II) halides, Contains heavy metals and heavy metal salts as well as veiled halogen silver. Sulphides of Heavy metals, such as lead, silver, zinc, antimony, cadmium and bismuth, are used to advantage in particular the sulfides of lead and zinc alone or in a mixture or complex salts thereof with thioacetamide, Dithiooxamide or dithiobiuret. The heavy metals in question include silver, Gold, platinum, palladium and mercury, preferably in colloidal form. The precious metals are special effective.
The silver precipitating agents can be applied from their solutions or dispersions in a colloidal medium such as gelatin directly to a carrier, e.g. B. made of paper or applied to a cellulose derivative or carrier made of synthetic polymers expediently provided with a primer layer. The colloidal medium for the silver precipitating agents is necessarily insoluble in the solution used during the last process step for removing the emulsion layer based on carboxylated cellulose derivatives. If the medium consists of gelatin, this is expediently hardened.
If the nitroindazoles are used in this process, they can be any of the hydrophilic layers used in the light-sensitive material. In such material Although the halogen silver emulsion can also be arranged directly over the silver precipitating layer, preferably but first a thin layer of an alkali-soluble carboxyl group-containing layer is applied to it Cellulose derivative, e.g. B. a dicarboxylic acid ester of ethyl cellulose, and on this the emulsion layer on. This thin intermediate layer is not absolutely necessary; but it promotes how has been shown to cleanly remove the emulsion from the silver precipitation layer.
Das für die erwähnten Emulsionen verwendete Halogensilber ist nicht besonders kritisch, so daßThe silver halide used for the emulsions mentioned is not particularly critical, so that
