WALDEMAR PETIT in BERLIN. Versteiftes Metallbandmaafs.WALDEMAR PETIT in BERLIN. Stiffened metal band.
Patentirt im Deutschen Reiche vom 18. September 1898 ab.Patented in the German Empire on September 18, 1898.
In the case of meter measurements and inch measurements, especially those of greater length, it is of evil that these either not at all or only in a practically as good as unusable manner Way can be stiffened. The links of collapsible measuring rods are already in the direction of rotation Secured against voluntary folding by spring-in springs, but the voluntary one Curving the ruler in a perpendicular to the plane of rotation of the links Direction has not been remedied in the least and the effective prevention of this movement is precisely that what matters most in practice.
For example, if you want to measure the height with a measuring stick 2 or 3 m long execute, d. H. bring the upper end of the stretched ruler to a certain height, this is due to the voluntary bending of the rule, so to speak, only with an artful balancing and even then success is quite often a matter of chance.
Is now already with collapsible or. rods made of articulated joints something useful has not yet been created, as far as I know, with the known ones Bandmaafsen or Rollmaafsen not even an attempt has been made make the Maafsband (metal band) stiffenable. The stiffening is also evident such a thin and flexible band incomparably more difficult than the stiffening of a limb, the parts of which in and of themselves possess a certain rigidity.
In the present invention, however, it is not simply a limb, but a even a tape measure stiffens, and this happens completely automatically, as well as only somehow a just used length of the tape measure unrolled respectively. is handled. The middle the purpose here is, expressed in general terms, that the metal strip consists of at least two parallel running, either integrating ■ connected or there are separate parts, the planes of which coincide wholly or almost wholly in the rest position of the Maafsband , but in the working position are so different that they are at the same time as the Stretching of the band whose stiffening occurs, so that now the unwound band respectively. the withdrawn part of it can be used as a rigid measure. Practical here are two main types envisaged, namely, first, those in which the metal band is a Forms a band of broken or curved cross-section, and secondly, those where the Metal band consists of two bands lying on top of each other, of which the upper or the lower or both may have a broken or curved cross-section. at Metal tapes of this second main type can use both tapes the well-known ones have a straight cross-section, whereas the first main type has this cross-section naturally must never occur.
In der beiliegenden Zeichnung ist ein dieser Erfindung gemäfs beschaffenes Bandmaafs in den Fig. 1 bis 3 in verschiedenen SchnittenIn the accompanying drawing, a tape measure made in accordance with this invention is shown in FIG 1 to 3 in different sections
In der Ruhelage fallen die Ebenen dieser Theile nahezu zusammen, weil der Bandquerschnitt unter dem Wickelungsdruck nahezu gestreckt wird, wohingegen beim Abwickeln, wo also.and views are shown, whereas in the other figures the metal strip itself is shown partly in cross section (Fig. 4a to 6c), partly in side view (Fig. Yes and 7b). In the embodiments shown in FIGS. 4 a to 4 c, only a single metal band is present, which is either broken in cross section (FIGS. 4 b and 4 c) or bent (FIG. 4 a) or. is corrugated (Fig. 4d and 4ε), \ jj - «<where these and the other possible similar or equivalent cross-sectional shapes are to be understood according to the above introduction as if the metal band made of gmd ^ siej« _ ^ white parallel J , integrally connected parts. In the rest position, the planes of these parts almost coincide, because the tape cross-section is almost stretched under the winding pressure, whereas when it is unwound, so where.
<\A der Wickelungsdruck in Fortfall kommt, das
Band den ihm ursprünglich__zw.a.ngsw.eise_.ge_r
gebenen Querschnitt freiwillig wieder annimmt, so dafs fiim~serbsttfiätig die_gewünschte Versteifung
bis jb gezeigten Ausführungsformen der Fall <\ A of the winding pressure in elimination show, the band assumed by him ursprünglich__zw.a.ngsw.eise_.ge_ r given cross-sectional voluntarily re-enters so DAF fiim ~ serbsttfiätig die_gewünschte stiffening the metal strip.
The same is the case when the two parts of the band assumed above are actually separated and overlaid, as is the case with the embodiments shown in FIGS. 5a to 5b
In all these forms, the two bands are connected to one another, but a flexible connection is expediently chosen so that one band can move a little in the longitudinal direction on the other, which is necessary because When the tape is wound up, the outer tape necessarily has a greater length than the inner one. In FIGS. 5a and 5b, this connection is made by a simple flanging
H'- ' - of the one band, that is, without any special auxiliary means, causes, in FIGS. 6a to 6c, lines are used for the connection. At least one of the 3 BeHeH straps is provided with short slots that allow the straps to be moved longitudinally. In Figs. Yes and 7b, the two bands have retained their straight cross-section and, as a replacement for the aforementioned rivets, special springs are arranged between the bands at suitable intervals, these intermediate springs either running essentially straight (Fig. 7a) or else Can be designed S-shaped (Fig. 7 b).
