Description
The invention relates to a device for determining or monitoring a process variable, in particular a predetermined fill level, the density or the viscosity of a medium in a container, with a sensor tube and a sensor tube in a gas-tight closing in one end membrane or with a sensor tube in an end region gas-tight closing membrane, on the outer surface of a vibrating element is fixed, wherein a transmitting / receiving unit is provided which excites the membrane or the membrane with the vibrating element to vibrate and which receives the oscillations of the oscillatory unit, and wherein a control / evaluation unit is provided , which detects the achievement of the predetermined level based on the received vibrations or determines the density or the viscosity of the medium. Such a device is also referred to as a vibronic sensor or vibration sensor. The vibronic sensor is mounted at the level of the specified level for the purpose of level measurement. For the purpose of measuring viscosity or density, the sensor must be positioned in the container in such a way that it is in contact, at least temporarily, with the medium, up to a defined immersion depth.
Vibronic sensors for level measurement usually oscillate at a defined resonant frequency - that is, they produce a harmonic oscillation. The resonance frequency is determined by the structure of the oscillating unit and the materials used. Each oscillation can be characterized by frequency and attenuation. If the oscillatable unit oscillates in a liquid medium with a high density, the medium density as a moving mass has an influence on the oscillatable unit. Consequently, the oscillation frequency is lower in a liquid medium than in a gaseous medium. A change in frequency thus indicates, for example, the transition from a gaseous to a liquid medium. Furthermore, the damping of the medium has an influence on the vibrations of a vibronic sensor. Bulk materials such as wheat or rice dampen the vibrations of the vibratory unit of a vibration sensor and cause a drastic reduction in the amplitude of the transition between air and bulk material.
As a level measuring instruments trained vibration sensors thus make use of the effect that both the vibration frequency and the vibration amplitude depends on the respective degree of coverage of the vibrating element: While the vibrating element can freely and undamped perform its vibrations in air, it undergoes a frequency and amplitude change as soon as it partially or completely immersed in the medium. Based on a predetermined frequency change (usually only the frequency is measured) can thus draw a clear conclusion on the achievement of the predetermined level of the medium in the container. The frequency change in non-damping media, such as gases and low-viscosity liquids, depends on the medium density. The frequency change is sufficient to detect the medium and to evaluate the density. Incidentally, fill level gauges are primarily used as overfill prevention devices, for pump idle protection or to detect flow in a pipeline.
As already stated, the damping of the vibration of the vibratable element is determined predominantly by the frictional forces between the solid particles or molecules of the respective medium. Therefore, with constant coverage, there is a functional relationship between vibration amplitude and bulk density (friction is greater in heavy bulk solids with a high bulk density than in light) or between vibration amplitude and viscosity, so that vibration sensors for both the level and bulk solids are suitable for density determination in bulk solids. Furthermore, vibronic sensors are used to determine the viscosity of a liquid medium.
In the case of filling level determination, an evaluation unit monitors the oscillation frequency and / or the oscillation amplitude of the oscillation element and signals the state 'sensor covered' or 'sensor uncovered' as soon as the measurement signals undershoot or exceed a predetermined reference value. An appropriate message to the operating personnel can be made visually and / or acoustically. Alternatively or additionally, a switching operation is triggered; For example, an inlet or outlet valve on the container is opened or closed.
The resonant frequency of a vibronic sensor has a temperature dependence. In order to achieve a high measurement accuracy, in particular in the density determination, therefore, the temperature of the medium or the process must be known, depending on where the sensor is used. Thus, various applications are known in which in addition to the level and the process temperature - ie the temperature in the gas space - must be determined.
For the purpose of temperature measurement, it is customary to place an additional temperature sensor at a suitable location - separate from the vibronic sensor. For a temperature-compensated density measurement, the temperature sensor, together with the vibronic sensor intended for density measurement, is connected to an evaluation computer - generally a control / evaluation unit. The disadvantage of using two separate sensors is primarily that every additional process connection, in addition to causing costs, also poses an additional risk in terms of tightness and hygiene in the process.
An attachment of the temperature sensor directly to the membrane or on the tuning fork is not possible for mechanical reasons, since the vibration system is thereby adversely affected in its functionality. Integration of the temperature sensor into the sensor tube of the vibronic sensor is relatively difficult due to the manner of mounting the piezoelectric drive / receiver unit. Thus, a stack drive is pressed against the membrane via a pressure screw, which engages in a thread on the inner wall of the sensor tube. A mounted on the inner wall of the sensor tube temperature sensor is a problem when screwing the pressure screw.

The invention is based on the object, a vibronic sensor and a method for producing a vibronic sensor that allows a temperature determination largely using already existing components of the vibronic sensor.
The object is achieved by a device for determining or monitoring a process variable, in particular a predetermined fill level, the density or the viscosity of a medium in a container, with a sensor tube and a membrane gas-tight closing the sensor tube in an end region or with the sensor tube in one End region gas-tight closing membrane, on the outer surface of a vibrating element is fixed, wherein a transmitting / receiving unit is provided which excites the membrane or the membrane with the vibrating element to vibrate and receives the vibrations of the oscillatory unit, and wherein a control / evaluation unit is provided, which detects the achievement of the predetermined level based on the received vibrations or determines the density or the viscosity of the medium. Furthermore, a sensor tube gas-tight barrier is provided at a defined distance from the membrane. The cavity formed between the membrane and the barrier encloses a gaseous medium which under normal conditions has a defined speed of sound. A sound wave generator generates in the cavity at least temporarily a sound wave having a characteristic vibration behavior or a characteristic duration. Based on a change in the characteristic vibration behavior or the characteristic duration of the sound wave, the temperature is subsequently determined.
The distance L of the surfaces between which the sound waves are located or propagate in the cavity, is dimensioned so that forms a standing sound wave with a desired sound wave frequency in the cavity under predetermined reference conditions. This sound wave frequency must be outside the vibration frequency of the vibronic sensor. In particular, it must be ensured that the frequencies used to determine the temperature have a sufficient distance from the frequencies for determining fill level, density and / or viscosity. The frequency spacing is sufficient if the sound wave frequency and the oscillation frequency and their harmonics, as far as possible, neither touch nor overlap in the end regions of the surrounding frequency bands.

- - Increased measurement accuracy when determining the process variable, especially when determining the density.
die Temperatur nach der folgenden Formel: According to a preferred embodiment of the device according to the invention, the control / evaluation unit determines, based on the equation: with the adiabatic coefficient κ, the pressure p, the gas density ρ, the universal gas constant R, the molar mass M of the gas and the absolute temperature T,
the temperature according to the following formula:
The transmitting / receiving unit is preferably a piezoelectric drive with at least one disk-shaped piezoelectric element. This is frictionally coupled with the membrane. Corresponding drives have become known from the prior art in various variations. Examples of the prior art, which can also be used in connection with the invention, are mentioned in the introduction to the description.
It is considered to be particularly advantageous if the control / evaluation unit excites the at least one piezoelectric element at least temporarily - alternately or synchronously - at a frequency which is outside the frequency band for excitation of the vibrations of the membrane or of the membrane and of the vibrating element. Preferably, the frequency and the length L are chosen so that forms a standing sound wave between the membrane and the barrier under predetermined boundary conditions. In this case, the disc-shaped piezoelectric element acts as a sound wave generator and as a sound wave receiver. Suitable embodiments are in the expertise of a technically qualified person. The control / evaluation unit determines the temperature based on a frequency change of the standing wave. As a result, information about the temperature becomes available without constructive changes to the usual components of a vibronic sensor are required.
As already mentioned, the distance between the two surfaces, between which the sound waves of a given frequency propagate in the cavity, is dimensioned to form a standing wave. Furthermore, it is ensured that the frequencies for determining the temperature do not overlap with the (resonant) frequencies for determining fill level, density and / or viscosity. To preclude any interference between process size and temperature measurement, the frequencies at which the membrane or membrane is excited by the vibrating element are below 18 KHz, while the sound waves used to determine the temperature are in a frequency range above 18 KHz, preferably above 20 KHz.
Alternatively, it is possible to provide the sound wave generator as a separate component on an inner surface of the sensor tube, the barrier or the membrane. Again, the area in which the emitted sound waves strike an opposing surface is preferably designed as a reflector. In order to avoid energy losses in the sound wave, the barrier is at least partially designed as an acoustic resonator with a defined acoustic impedance. In the simplest case, the barrier is a screw which is connected to the sensor tube at a distance L via a thread. Of course, the barrier can also be welded to the sensor tube. The barrier may for example consist of stainless steel, of plastic or of a metal with a plastic coating. It is only important that in the areas coming into contact with the sound waves materials are arranged, which have the highest possible acoustic impedance.
Furthermore, it is provided in connection with the device according to the invention that in the region in which the sound waves emitted by the sound wave generator impinge on an opposite surface of the sensor tube, the membrane or the barrier, a sound wave receiver is arranged. In this embodiment, it is possible to obtain information about the temperature over the duration of the sound wave between the sound wave generator and the sound wave receiver. An advantageous embodiment of the device according to the invention provides that the sound wave generator and the sound wave receiver are in each case at least one preferably disk-shaped piezoelectric element. Of course, it should also be noted in this variant that as far as possible no overlapping of the frequency bands occurs. As a transmitting / receiving unit, all known piezoelectric drives can be used.
- – die Dichte des in der Kavität eingeschlossenen gasförmigen Mediums wird durch Messung der Schallgeschwindigkeit bei definiertem Druck und definierter Temperatur bestimmt;
- - The density of the enclosed in the cavity gaseous medium is determined by measuring the speed of sound at a defined pressure and temperature;
- - In the cavity at defined pressure and temperature a gaseous medium of a defined density is included. It is preferably an inert gas, in particular nitrogen. Nitrogen is inert, inexpensive, harmless to health and in most production facilities anyway available. In addition, nitrogen has a very low boiling point even under pressure. However, helium is used for cryogenic application.
