Nachfolgend wird dieser Bogen nach der Seitenkante ausgerichtet. Das kann auf dem Anlegtisch erfolgen, indem z. B. der Bogen durch zusätzliche Mittel aus der Bogenbahn und mit der Seitenkante gegen einen Seitenanschlag geführt wird. Es ist auch möglich, die Ist-Seitenlage des auszurichtenden Bogens auf dem Anlegtisch zu erfassen und auf einem nachgeordneten Bogenführungssystem die Soll-Seitenlage zu realisieren. Dazu muss der Bogen aus der Staffel seitlich herausgeführt und damit für die Kantenmessung vereinzelt werden. Nachteilig ist, dass zum Herausführen des auszurichtenden Bogens aus der Bogenstaffel zusätzliche Mittel erforderlich sind, die einen hohen getriebetechnischen Aufwand erfordern und feinfühlig dem zur Verarbeitung gelangenden Bedruckstoff angepasst werden müssen. Außerdem besteht die Gefahr, dass beim seitlichen Herausführen des auszurichtenden Bogens aus der Bogenstaffel der Folgebogen verrissen wird, was zur Produktivitätsminderung der Maschine führt.
