In summary, the invention relates to a method for concentrating aqueous alcohol solutions by means of pervaporation.
The use of synthetic membranes for separation and purification purposes is a branch of technology that is rapidly spreading. Membrane technology can be used, for example, in water treatment, in the chemical industry, in the food industry and in the pharmaceutical industry for various purposes of separation and purification. Conventional separation methods, such. As distillation and crystallization, require plenty of Enprgie, and it is possible to obtain with the Menbrantechnik a considerably lower energy consumption.
Kommerziell eingeführte Membrantrennverfahrer sinu u.a. Commercially introduced membrane separation sinu u.a. Dialysis, reverse osmosis and electrodialysis, used in freshwater production, desalination of water and in the purification of proteins and other biological materials.
Pervaporation is a method in which the liquid mixture to be processed is in contact with a semi-permeable membrane skin. The permeate dissolves them!) In the membrane and diffuses therethrough to evaporate on the opposite side of the membrane in vacuum or in an inert gas. The semi-permeable membrane acts like a thin strength-enhancement layer, which is continuously regenerated as the molecules passing through it vaporize at the bottom of the membrane.
Pervaporation works better than other special purpose processes. Such purposes are those separation and concentration processes which refer, for example, to azeotrepe solutions, to mixtures of substances in which the boiling points of Korr.ponenton are very close together and isomer mixtures and heat-sensitive mixtures. The present invention relates to the concentration of alcohols in aqueous solutions by means of the pervaporation technique. Two strong determinants in evaluating the suitability of the process and the semipermeable membrane employed therein are selectivity; h., the achievable level of concentration and the amount of permeates passing through the membrane that dictates capacity. For concentrating alcohols in water solutions, the usual ones used in membrane separation processes have been used. Zelluio & jderivate tastes, such. Cellulose acetate, cellulose acetate and regenerated cellulose. However, it has been found that although in some cases moderately good selectivity values have been obtained, the permeabilities of the membranes have been low since no useful alcohol concentration process has been achieved with the aid of this aid.
The aim of the invention is to provide an improved process for concentrating aqueous A'kohollösungen by pervaporation.

The viscosity of the solutions thus obtained was 3.9, 6.2 and 13.1 Pas, respectively. The preparation of the membranes was carried out by spreading the cellulose carbamate solution on a glass plate with the aid of a glass rod to a uniform layer. In all cases the same membrane thickness was sought, and with the help of clobstrip layers wound around the glass rod. The membranes were precipitated by immersing the glass plate in a precipitation solution containing 10% by weight of H 2 SO 4 , 18% by weight of Na 2 SO 4 and 7% by weight of Al 2 (SO 4 )! And with the temperature of 23 ° C. Dio's fall time was 3 minutes. After precipitation, the membranes were detached from the glass plate, washed with running warm water and left in water overnight. Thereafter, the membranes were treated with 20% ethanol for 30 minutes to improve the durability of the membranes. The strength of the membranes thus obtained, measured in the dry state, was 26.1 μ, 19.9 μ and 20.7 μ, respectively.
The membranes were used to concentrate 94% ethanol solution in an apparatus as shown in FIG. The temperature of the feed solution was maintained at 25 ° C. and the feed flow rate was 1800 ml / min. The pressure on the permeate side was 12 mbar. Before the measurements, the system was allowed to stabilize for 2 hours. In the test, a sample was collected for 15 minutes, after which the permeate precipitated in the cold trap was weighed to measure the flow rate and analyzed to determine the sheath factor.
