Detailed Description
With reference to the preceding figures, 1 indicates a whole extractable closure, which is particularly useful for closing the outlet of a container, such as for example a bottle (made of glass, PET, aluminium, etc.).
The extractable closure 1 may in particular comprise a ring-pull or pull-off closure. At least a portion of the extractable closure 1 may in particular be made of a metallic material, for example aluminum. The extractable closure 1 is provided with a gripping element 2 (e.g. a pulling tab or ring) which can be pulled by a user to separate the closure and open the container. The grip element 2 may in particular be made of plastic (e.g. PE).
The extractable closure 1 may in particular comprise a housing 3 or shell comprising a closure wall 4. The housing 3 may in particular be made of a metallic material, for example aluminium. The closing wall 4 may in particular be configured to close the upper outlet of the container. The housing 3 may in particular comprise a skirt wall 5. The skirt wall 5 may in particular be a cylindrical wall.
The skirt wall 5 may in particular extend downwards from the periphery of the closing wall 4 and may in particular be configured for coupling with a neck of a container (for example of a known type).
The housing 3 may in particular comprise a connecting portion 6. The closing wall 4 and the skirt wall 5 can in particular be joined by a connecting portion 6. The grip element 2 may in particular extend from the skirt wall 5 or be applied to the skirt wall 5, and may in particular be configured to be pulled (upwards) by a consumer in order to separate the housing 3 and open the container. The grip element 2 may in particular comprise a pull ring. The grip element 2 may in particular comprise an upper end portion attached to the lower edge of the skirt wall 5. The grip element 2 may in particular extend downwards from the lower edge of the skirt wall 5.
The extractable closure 1 may in particular comprise preferential separation means arranged on the housing 3 to facilitate the separation of the housing 3 when the grip element 2 is pulled. The preferential separation means may comprise, in particular, at least one circumferential score line 7 arranged on the surface of the connecting portion 6 (in particular on the convex outer surface of the connecting portion 6). The circumferential score line 7 may in particular extend over at least a sixth, or at least a fifth, or at least a quarter of the rotation angle in length in order to ensure separation of the housing 3 (by pulling the grip element 2) after the preferential separation member breaks.
The gripping element 2 and the preferential separation means are configured such that by pulling the gripping element 2, the closure portion, which is separated and lifted by the effect of tearing and breaking of the preferential separation means, comprises at least a portion of the closure wall 4 arranged above.
The extractable closure 1 may in particular comprise a sealing member 8 arranged on the inside of the housing 3 (in particular below the closure wall 4) and configured to form a seal on the outlet of the container. The sealing means 8 may comprise, inter alia, a seal applied and molded directly inside the housing 3 by compression molding of plastic (e.g. PE, EVA or other PVC-free material).
The circumferential score line 7 may in particular be arranged in a radially more peripheral position with respect to the sealing member 8, such that the circumferential score line 7 is not superimposed on the sealing member 8.
This configuration of the circumferential score line 7 (on the connecting portion 6 and/or in a radially more peripheral position relative to the sealing means 8) enables the tear opening to be encouraged and a highly airtight seal to the container to be maintained prior to opening. In particular, the operation of tearing to separate the opening may be performed without substantially interfering with the sealing member 8 arranged inside the housing 3.
The preferential separation means may comprise, in particular, at least one further circumferential score line 9, which is arranged on the (external and convex) surface of the connecting portion 6. The further circumferential score line 9 may in particular be spaced apart from the circumferential score line 7 in the circumferential direction. The further circumferential score line 9 may in particular be arranged in a radially more peripheral position with respect to the sealing member 8 such that the further circumferential score line 9 is not superimposed on the sealing member 8. The further circumferential score line 9 may in particular extend over at least one sixth, or at least one fifth, or at least one fourth of the rotational angle in order to ensure that the housing 3 is separated (the grip element 2 is pulled) after the preferential separation member breaks.
The further circumferential score line 9 and the circumferential score line 7 may in particular be arranged symmetrically to each other with respect to a vertical symmetry plane passing through the grip element 2. The circumferential score line 7 may in particular be arranged on the connecting portion 6 (in particular on its outer and convex surfaces) throughout its entire circumferential extent or throughout its most circumferential extent. The vertical score and/or connecting line 10 can be arranged in particular on the skirt wall 5, which ends in the vicinity of the grip element 2. The vertical score and/or the connecting line 10 may be configured in particular to join the grip element 2 to the circumferential score line 7. The preferential separation means may in particular comprise at least one further vertical score and/or connecting line 11 arranged on the (outer) side of the housing 3, in particular to join the grip element 2 to the further circumferential score line 9.
A method for producing a retractable closure for a container, in particular for producing a retractable closure 1, is disclosed.
The method of manufacture may include, inter alia, the step of providing a sheet of metallic material (e.g., aluminum). The manufacturing method may in particular comprise the step of cutting the aforementioned sheet to obtain a plurality of sheet-like bodies. The manufacturing method may in particular comprise the step of stretching the aforementioned sheet-like bodies to obtain from each of the bodies a shell 3 having a central closing wall 4 and a peripheral skirt wall 5.
The manufacturing method may in particular comprise the step of scoring the aforementioned shells 3 after the aforementioned step of stretching to obtain at least one score line extending circumferentially on each of the shells 3. The aforementioned scoring step may in particular be performed such that the circumferentially extending score line is arranged on a convex outer side of the connecting portion of the housing 3, which convex outer side joins the central closing wall to the peripheral skirt wall.
The manufacturing method may in particular comprise a step of applying a sealing member 8 to the inside of the housing 3, which sealing member is intended to form a seal on the outlet of the container. The circumferentially extending score line may in particular be arranged in a radially more peripheral position than the aforementioned sealing member 8, such that the circumferentially extending score line does not overlap the aforementioned sealing member.
The foregoing steps of cutting and stretching may be performed in a press, in particular, by moving the cutting member along a cutting axis and moving the stretching member along a stretching axis coincident with the foregoing cutting axis. The press may comprise, inter alia, an inlet zone for the sheet to be treated, a pressing zone (cutting and stretching), a discharge zone for the waste metal sheet, a zone for collecting the shell. Such presses may comprise, inter alia, presses of known type.
The method of manufacture may comprise, inter alia, the step of forming one or more protrusions 12 on one side of each of the aforementioned sheet-like bodies or the aforementioned housings. In particular, it is possible to form two projections 12 for each sheet-like body or housing. The formation of the one or more projections 12 can be achieved in particular by plastic deformation without the creation of scrap, i.e. parts of material that are integrally separated from the aforesaid sheet-like body or from the aforesaid housing and must then be removed.
The formation of the one or more projections 12 may be made in particular by plastic deformation performed with the punch members 13, 17 (stretching and/or punching and/or cutting members).
Forming one or more protrusions 12 on one side of the article may, particularly in the case of stretching, cause one or more depressions to be formed simultaneously on the opposite side of the article.
Suitable plastic deformation for forming the protrusions 12 may be, for example, without creating scores or through openings in the material in the case of simple stretching, or may be, for example, scoring or through openings in the case of die cutting (without scrap).
The formation of the projections 12 may also include, inter alia, the step of cutting the material with a punch member 17 provided with an "open" cutting profile (i.e. not in the form of a closed loop) such that the deformed material remains attached without releasing scrap.
The formation of the protrusions 12 may especially comprise the formation of side openings or slits and is achieved by means of, for example, stamping of cut material on only one side, resulting especially in protrusions in the shape of a half cone (a kind of tip) or the like.
The punch member with the blade (combined effect of punch and cut) may be configured in particular to deform the material to create the projections and also to cut the material and thus create the relative openings, holes or scores by way of example in a similar manner as machining a metal sheet to form the teeth and holes of a grinder or the teeth and holes of a non-slip baked metal floor.
It should be noted that stamping by means of partial cutting of the non-closed cutting profile (without forming scrap) may further permit the formation of projections defining undercuts, in particular due to the formation of scores or openings or holes in the material. The undercut is defined by the inner surface of the protrusion that defines the aforementioned score, opening or aperture.
The formation of the one or more protrusions 12 may include, inter alia, plastic deformation performed by a punch member 17 provided with at least one blade and configured to form a cut, wherein the at least one protrusion 12 is formed, and furthermore, an opening or hole or through score is formed, with plastic deformation without forming scrap.
The method of manufacture may in particular comprise the step of applying the grip element 2 to each of the aforesaid sheet-like bodies or the aforesaid shells by engaging the end of the grip element 2 with the respective projection 12. This step of applying may in particular comprise the step of directly overmolding (overmoulding) the gripping element 2 on the respective sheet-like body or housing 3 (for example by injection or compression overmolding of plastic). This step of applying may include, inter alia, a step of engaging, for example, by interlocking and/or mechanically forcing the ends of the (previously formed) gripping elements onto the respective protrusions 12.
As noted above, the protrusions 12 may define, among other things, at least one open hole or score in the material. The protrusions 12 may in particular define at least one undercut that may facilitate a subsequent operation of applying the gripping element 2, thereby improving a firm and gripping of the element.
The aforementioned step of forming the one or more protrusions 12 (and the one or more respective recesses) may in particular be performed during the aforementioned step of stretching the sheet-like body or after the aforementioned step of stretching the sheet-like body or during the aforementioned scoring step of scoring the shell or after the aforementioned scoring step of scoring the shell. Each protrusion 12 may be formed on the protruding portion 14 of the housing by means of, inter alia, a punch member 13, 17, which may comprise, inter alia, a small punch and a corresponding small die operating on the protruding portion 14. Each protrusion 12 may protrude from the outer side of the protrusion portion 14 (in the embodiment of fig. 4 and 5) or from the inner side of the protrusion portion 14 (as in the embodiment of fig. 7 to 9).
In particular, as in the embodiment of fig. 4 to 5, each protrusion 12 comprising at least one stretched portion of material without any through openings may be formed by a punch member for stretching (e.g. like punch member 13 in fig. 7). In the embodiment of fig. 8-9, the protrusions 12 comprising at least one cut-out and deformed portions of material having through openings may be formed by each punch and cut punch member, such as, for example, punch member 17 in fig. 8.
The grip element 2 is particularly attachable to the protruding portion 14 of the housing 3. The tab portion 14 may be configured, inter alia, so as to protrude downwardly from the skirt wall 5.
