背景技术
打印设备包括用于向介质施加打印材料的***和设备。例如,诸如喷墨打印机之类的一些打印设备,使用向打印介质上喷射或喷出油墨或其它打印材料的打印引擎。这样的打印引擎,常常被称为喷墨器,使用热或压电机构来生成被仔细定时和隔开的墨滴以创建所打印的图像。可以使用各种类型的机械或半导体制造和加工技术来制造喷墨打印头模具(die)。单独的打印头模具可以被组合以创建更大或更宽的喷墨打印头,有时被称为页宽阵列。

具体实施方式
喷墨打印头可以包括用于向介质施加油墨的各种机构。在一些实现中,打印头可以包括在机械或半导体制造过程中形成为单独的喷墨模具的喷嘴或喷射器管嘴阵列。相应地,术语“喷墨模具”或“模具”在本文中可交换地用以指代任何类型的热或压电管嘴阵列,从其中可以以协调方式射出油墨或其它打印材料以生成所打印的图像。
在各种实现中,可以从对应的储槽给特定模具中的管嘴供应油墨或打印材料。如在本文中使用的,术语“油墨”和“打印材料”可交换地用以指代可以从管嘴或喷墨模具射出以形成或完成所打印的图像的任何材料。例如,可以由一组管嘴射出各种颜色的油墨以生成打印的彩色图像,而可以由另一组管嘴射出顶涂层或固化剂以固化、保护或以其它方式完成所打印的图像。
随着管嘴射出打印材料,对应的油墨储槽中的打印材料的供应量减少(deplete)。随着打印材料减少,由打印材料的降低的量所产生的对应背压可以使得打印材料较不容易流动并且潜在地引起假低油墨检测信号。为了减轻由打印材料的减少所引起的背压,本公开的实现包括允许空气进到打印材料储槽中的压力均衡元件。
在本文中描述的各种实现中,压力均衡元件可以包括压敏阀或表面张力型鼓泡器(bubbler)(例如,专门确定尺寸的孔),其允许空气在背压达到特定阈值水平时进入打印材料储槽。在本文中描述的一些示例实现中,打印管嘴阵列和压力均衡元件可以被布置在包括打印材料储槽的外壳的共同一侧中。在这样的实现中,模具阵列的管嘴可以通过一个导管或通道耦合到打印材料储槽,而压力均衡元件可以通过另一导管或通道耦合到打印材料储槽。相应地,随着空气被吸引到压力均衡元件中并且穿过对应的导管或通道,打印材料向管嘴的流动可以保持不中断。参考本文中的随附各图来描述具体的例证性示例实现。示例仅意为例证性的而并不意图限制本公开或随附权利要求。
图1描绘了包括打印管嘴阵列110和压力均衡元件120的外壳105的侧视图100的示意图。示出的外壳105的外观可以包括形成在打印管嘴阵列110周围以延伸阵列110的周界的包覆成型元件。外壳和包覆成型元件可以包括各种可成型材料,诸如塑料、复合材料、金属合金等。在一些示例实现中,压力均衡元件120可以形成在包覆成型元件或外壳中。外壳和包覆成型元件可以是单个整合体。
如在本文中描述的,打印管嘴阵列110可以包括喷墨模具,所述喷墨模具包括多个打印管嘴115的阵列。在一些实现中,打印管嘴阵列110可以在一个过程中形成并且然后在另一过程中与外壳105的包覆成型部分结合。打印管嘴阵列110可以包括诸如金属、半导体和塑料之类的材料的各种组合。
如所图示的,压力均衡元件120可以被布置在外壳105的包覆成型部分中。打印管嘴115和压力均衡元件120中的每一个可以通过(未示出的)对应的导管或通道耦合到外壳105中的打印材料储槽。在各种示例实现中,压力均衡元件120距打印管嘴115的位移可以基于对打印管嘴115进行馈送的导管或通道和/或将压力均衡元件120耦合到打印材料储槽的导管和/或通道的位置来确定。
图2描绘了示例外壳205的侧视图200和示例外壳205的对应横截面图,所述示例外壳205包括具有打印管嘴115的阵列的打印管嘴阵列110。横截面图来自方向A的视角以图示出用以允许空气进到对应打印材料储槽225中的、均衡由其中的打印材料的减少所引起的背压的示例压力均衡元件120的功能性。
如图所示,打印管嘴115通过对应的通道215耦合到主打印材料储槽225。随着打印管嘴115选择性地射出打印材料液滴,储槽225中的打印材料的水平随着它流过通道215而减少。为了补偿由打印材料储槽225中的打印材料的减小的量所引起的背压,空气可以气泡可以通过压力均衡元件120在通道220中形成。在图2中的步骤1至4中图示了该过程。
在特定阈值背压下,压力均衡元件120可以开始允许空气或其它气体在将压力均衡元件120耦合到打印材料储槽225的通道220内形成初始空气泡241,如步骤1处所示。随着在步骤2中通过打印管嘴115射出更多打印材料,空气泡243膨胀到触及通道220的侧壁。随着在步骤3中气泡245在大小上增加,它进一步阻塞通道220并上移到打印材料储槽225中。在步骤4中,当气泡247具有足够的体积、浮力或张力来克服与通道220的壁的摩擦时,它移动到打印材料储槽225中以补偿由于打印材料的减少所引起的背压。
在这样的实现中,将压力均衡元件120置于外壳205中距打印管嘴115的特定距离处的位置中可以帮助防止通道215的堵塞,所述堵塞可能切断打印材料到打印管嘴115的供应。另外,通过均衡打印材料储槽225中的打印材料的背压,可以通过允许否则可能由于背压而被阻止流动的剩余量的打印材料通过通道215流到打印管嘴115而更加充分地利用打印材料。
在一些示例实现中,通道215或外壳205的其它元件可以包括打印材料水平传感器,以确定打印材料何时已减少超过阈值水平。因为压力均衡元件120通过分离的通道220耦合到打印材料储槽225,所以在通道220中形成的用来均衡背压的空气泡不干扰打印材料水平传感器的功能性。
图3描绘了根据本公开的实现的包括多个打印管嘴阵列110的示例外壳305的视图201。例如,多个打印管嘴阵列110可以被对齐或交错以形成页宽阵列打印头,以在不扫描打印头的情况下以一次通过跨打印介质页面的宽度进行打印。所述多个打印管嘴阵列中的每一个可以被包括在喷墨模具中,所述喷墨模具通过对应的分离通道215耦合到对应的分离的打印材料储槽。类似地,每个分离的打印材料储槽可以通过对应的通道220耦合到对应的压力均衡元件120。在这样的实现中,分离的打印材料储槽可以存储打印材料并通过对应的通道215和打印管嘴115来分发打印材料。分离的打印材料储槽可以通过布置在各储槽之间的附加的压力均衡或打印材料分送阀而彼此耦合。
图4描绘了示例外壳305的视图203,其中打印材料储槽225被示出为连接对应的压力均衡阀415。在其中一个打印管嘴阵列110比另一打印管嘴阵列110更快地射出打印材料的场景中,打印材料可以从一个打印材料储槽225流向另一打印材料储槽225。这样的实现帮助确保耦合到打印管嘴115的特定阵列的一个打印材料储槽在其它打印材料储槽225被耗尽之前不会涸竭。例如,在其中打印材料储槽225-2中的打印材料以比打印材料储槽225-1中的打印材料更快的速率减少的场景中,打印材料储槽225-2中的较低压力可以使得打印材料在由箭头401所指示的方向中移动。因此,一旦这两个储槽之间的压力差大于阈值差,打印材料就可以通过阀415从打印材料储槽225-1流到打印材料储槽225-2。
使打印材料从一个打印材料储槽225移动到另一打印材料储槽225的压力均衡机构可以增强或补充压力均衡元件120的功能性。例如,打印材料储槽225之间的阀415的压力差异阈值可以低于、等于或大于激活压力均衡元件120的压力均衡机构所要求的阈值压力差异。因此,可以在允许空气通过压力均衡元件120进入之前、期间或之后在打印材料储槽225之间分送打印材料。

Claims (10)
1.一种打印头组装件,包括:
外壳,其具有打印材料储槽;
打印喷嘴阵列,其被布置在所述外壳的一侧中并且通过第一通道耦合到所述打印材料储槽,所述第一通道形成所述打印材料储槽的第一部分;以及
压力均衡元件,其被布置在所述外壳的所述侧中并且通过第二通道耦合到所述打印材料储槽以允许空气在所述打印材料储槽中的压力改变时进入所述打印材料储槽,所述第二通道形成所述打印材料储槽的第二部分。
2.根据权利要求1所述的打印头组装件,其中所述打印喷嘴阵列被布置在所述外壳的所述侧的第一区域中并且所述压力均衡元件被布置在所述外壳的所述侧的第二区域中。
3.根据权利要求2所述的打印头组装件,其中第一区域距第二区域移位比所述打印喷嘴阵列的尺寸更大的距离。
4.根据权利要求1所述的打印头组装件,其中所述打印材料储槽包括多个储槽,其中所述多个储槽中的每一个储槽通过对应的阀耦合到另一储槽以跨所述多个储槽均衡压力。
5.根据权利要求1所述的打印头组装件,打印材料水平传感器被布置在第一通道中以感测第一通道中的打印材料的存在或缺乏。
6.根据权利要求5所述的打印头组装件,其中所述打印喷嘴阵列包括所述打印材料水平传感器。
7.根据权利要求1所述的打印头组装件,其中所述打印喷嘴阵列包括被布置在半导体材料中的喷嘴的阵列,所述外壳包括塑性材料,并且所述压力均衡元件包括所述塑性材料中的开口。
8.根据权利要求1所述的打印头组装件,其中所述压力均衡元件包括无源鼓泡器元件。
9.一种页宽阵列打印头,包括:
多个打印喷嘴阵列;
包覆成型元件,其被耦合到所述多个打印喷嘴阵列以延伸所述多个打印喷嘴阵列的周界并且包括多个压力均衡元件;以及
与所述多个打印喷嘴阵列对应的多个打印材料储槽;
其中所述多个打印材料储槽中的每一个通过多个第一通道中对应的第一通道耦合到所述多个打印喷嘴阵列中的对应打印喷嘴阵列,其中所述对应的第一通道形成相应的打印材料储槽的第一部分;
其中所述多个打印材料储槽中的每一个通过多个第二通道中对应的第二通道耦合到所述多个压力均衡元件中的对应压力均衡元件,其中所述对应的第二通道形成相应的打印材料储槽的第二部分。
10.根据权利要求9所述的页宽阵列打印头,其中所述多个打印材料储槽中的每一个通过阀耦合到所述打印材料储槽中的至少一个其它打印材料储槽。
