Abstract
本发明公开了一种用于OLED显示面板的像素驱动电路的补偿方法,该补偿方法通过使驱动晶体管先后两次稳定工作在饱和区,采集到的充电电压与充电时间计算得到驱动晶体管的阈值电压,并利用建立的阈值电压补偿表对像素驱动电路进行补偿。该补偿方法附加的结构简单,易操作,能够显著提高阈值电压的侦测速度,可以避免电压电流转换系数对阈值电压的侦测精度的影响,同时有利于降低补偿成本。

技术领域
本发明涉及显示技术领域,尤其涉及一种用于OLED显示面板的像素驱动电路的补偿方法。
背景技术
有机发光二极管(Organic Light Emitting Display,OLED)显示设备具有自发光、驱动电压低、发光效率高、响应时间短、清晰度与对比度高、视角大以及可实现柔性显示等优点,因而获得了越来越广泛的应用。
目前,OLED显示设备在其应用中所面临的主要问题是寿命偏低以及参数偏移严重。由于OLED的亮度是由流过其自身的电流决定的,而电流控制是较难实现的,因此,OLED的精确控制一直是领域内致力研究的核心问题。现有技术中一般通过设置补偿结构来对OLED显示面板的像素驱动电路进行补偿。
发明内容
本发明所要解决的技术问题之一是需要提供一种补偿结构简单且易于实施的,对OLED显示面板的像素驱动电路进行补偿的方法。
为了解决上述技术问题,本申请的实施例提供了一种用于OLED显示面板的像素驱动电路的补偿方法,所述像素驱动电路包括驱动晶体管与存储电容,所述存储电容的第一极板与所述驱动晶体管的栅极相连接,其第二极板与所述驱动晶体管的源极/漏极以及OLED的正极相连接,所述补偿方法包括:
对应于每个像素,分别设置一侦测电容,使所述侦测电容的第一极板与所述OLED的正极相连接,并使所述侦测电容的第二极板接地;
利用所述驱动晶体管在第一侦测周期内将所述侦测电容充电至第一充电电压,并记录与该第一充电电压对应的第一充电时间;
利用所述驱动晶体管在第二侦测周期内将所述侦测电容充电至第二充电电压,并记录与该第二充电电压对应的第二充电时间;
基于所述第一充电电压、第一充电时间、第二充电电压、第二充电时间计算所述驱动晶体管的阈值电压;
基于所述阈值电压建立阈值电压补偿表,根据所述阈值电压补偿表对所述像素驱动电路进行补偿;
其中,在所述第一侦测周期内所述存储电容的两个极板之间的电压值与在所述第二侦测周期内其两个极板之间的电压值不相等。
优选地,所述利用所述驱动晶体管在第一侦测周期内将所述侦测电容充电至第一充电电压,包括:
重置所述驱动晶体管的栅极电压,使其具有第一栅极电压,重置所述驱动晶体管的源极/漏极电压,使其具有第一参考电压;
向所述驱动晶体管的漏极/源极施加第一驱动电压,所述第一驱动电压在所述第一充电时间内,经由所述驱动晶体管将所述侦测电容充电至所述第一充电电压。
优选地,所述第一栅极电压与所述第一参考电压之间的差值在所述第一充电时间内保持不变,且大于所述驱动晶体管的阈值电压,所述驱动晶体管在所述第一充电时间内处于饱和区。
优选地,所述利用所述驱动晶体管在第二侦测周期内将所述侦测电容充电至第二充电电压,包括:
重置所述驱动晶体管的栅极电压,使其具有第二栅极电压,重置所述驱动晶体管的源极/漏极电压,使其具有第二参考电压;
向所述驱动晶体管的漏极/源极施加第二驱动电压,所述第二驱动电压在所述第二充电时间内,经由所述驱动晶体管将所述侦测电容充电至所述第二充电电压。
优选地,所述第二栅极电压与所述第二参考电压之间的差值在所述第二充电时间内保持不变,且大于所述驱动晶体管的阈值电压,所述驱动晶体管在所述第二充电时间内处于饱和区。
优选地,在重置所述驱动晶体管的源极/漏极电压的过程中,
在所述第一侦测周期内,向所述驱动晶体管的漏极/源极持续施加与所述第一参考电压相等的电压;
在所述第二侦测周期内,向所述驱动晶体管的漏极/源极持续施加与所述第二参考电压相等的电压。
优选地,基于如下表达式计算所述驱动晶体管的阈值电压Vth:

优选地,所述对应于每个像素,分别设置一侦测电容,包括:
在所述OLED的正极设置一薄膜晶体管,所述薄膜晶体管的源极/漏极连接所述OLED的正极,位于同一列像素的所述薄膜晶体管的漏极/源极经由连接引线连接在一起,所述连接引线同时与指定芯片的指定管脚相连接;
存在于所述连接引线与地之间的寄生电容构成所述侦测电容。
优选地,所述根据所述阈值电压补偿表对所述像素驱动电路进行补偿,包括:
接收与灰阶数据相对应的数字信号;
将所述数字信号转换为对应的模拟电压;
根据所述阈值电压补偿表获取与显示该灰阶数据的像素相对应的阈值电压补偿值,并根据所述模拟电压与所述阈值电压补偿值计算补偿后的模拟电压;
将所述补偿后的模拟电压转换为对应的数字信号,并据此对所述像素驱动电路进行补偿。
与现有技术相比,上述方案中的一个或多个实施例可以具有如下优点或有益效果:
使驱动晶体管先后两次稳定工作在饱和区,通过采集到的充电电压与充电时间计算得到驱动晶体管的阈值电压,并利用建立的阈值电压补偿表对像素驱动电路进行补偿,该补偿方法附加的结构简单,易操作,能够显著提高阈值电压的侦测速度,可以避免电压电流转换系数对阈值电压的侦测精度的影响,同时有利于降低补偿成本。

具体实施方式
以下将结合附图及实施例来详细说明本发明的实施方式,借此对本发明如何应用技术手段来解决技术问题,并达成相应技术效果的实现过程能充分理解并据以实施。本申请实施例以及实施例中的各个特征,在不相冲突前提下可以相互结合,所形成的技术方案均在本发明的保护范围之内。
图1为现有技术中的像素驱动电路的结构示意图,如图1所示,该像素驱动电路主要由第一薄膜晶体管T1、第二薄膜晶体管T2、存储电容Cs以及OLED发光元件组成。其中,T1为开关晶体管,T2为驱动晶体管。在T1的栅极施加信号G1,可用于开启对T2的栅极进行充电的路径。当G1为高电平时,开关晶体管T1开启,其源极/漏极接收数据线上的数据信号A,并经由T1的漏极/源极传输至驱动晶体管T2的栅极,将T2的栅极充电至一指定的电压。驱动晶体管T2根据其栅极的栅极电压G2与源极/漏极电压VS产生驱动电流,使OLED发光元件导通并点亮,进行灰阶的显示。存储电容Cs在数据信号A对T2的栅极进行充电的过程中被同时充电,并可以在T1关闭后维持施加在T2的栅极与源极/漏极之间的电压,使OLED能够持续导通。图1中的OVDD与OVSS为施加于驱动晶体管T2的直流电压。
本发明所提供的具体实施例,将在图1所示的像素驱动电路的基础上进行实施,以对OLED的阈值电压的漂移进行侦测。但需要注意的是,上述像素驱动电路的结构仅用于辅助对本发明实施例的具体的步骤进行说明,其并不会对本发明实施例的补偿方法构成限定。亦即在本发明实施例中,只要在第一侦测周期内与第二侦测周期内能够实现对用于控制驱动晶体管T2开启和/或关闭的两端进行指定的操作,而无论像素驱动电路部分的具体结构如何,就基本上可以实现本发明实施例。
图2为根据本发明实施例的用于OLED显示面板的像素驱动电路的补偿方法的流程示意图,如图2所示,该补偿方法包括以下步骤:
步骤S210、对应于每个像素,分别设置一侦测电容,使侦测电容的第一极板与OLED的正极相连接,并使侦测电容的第二极板接地。
步骤S220、利用驱动晶体管在第一侦测周期内将侦测电容充电至第一充电电压,并记录与该第一充电电压对应的第一充电时间。
步骤S230、利用驱动晶体管在第二侦测周期内将侦测电容充电至第二充电电压,并记录与该第二充电电压对应的第二充电时间。
步骤S240、基于第一充电电压、第一充电时间、第二充电电压、第二充电时间计算驱动晶体管的阈值电压。
步骤S250、基于阈值电压建立阈值电压补偿表,根据阈值电压补偿表对像素驱动电路进行补偿。
其中,在两次充电过程中,需保证在第一侦测周期内,存储电容的两个极板之间的电压值,与其在第二侦测周期内的两个极板之间的电压值不相等。
具体的,在步骤S210中,针对每个像素驱动电路,设置用于对OLED的阈值电压进行侦测的结构。如图3所示,其具体为在图1中的像素驱动电路的基础上增加了一个薄膜晶体管T3,T3的栅极连接信号G3,其源极/漏极连接驱动晶体管T2的源极/漏极与OLED的正极,其漏极/源极连接至走线30。如图3所示,像素驱动电路中还设置有走线30,该走线30用于将位于同一列像素的T3的漏极/源极端连接在一起,且该走线30同时与用于完成侦测的指定芯片的一指定管脚相连接(在图3中未示出)。
一般的,用于完成侦测的指定芯片设置在柔性基板COF上,并采用TAB工艺焊接(bonding)在阵列基板的边缘处,因此,在走线30与地之间存在较大的寄生电容,如图3中虚线所表示的电容Cline所示。以寄生电容Cline作为侦测电容,即该侦测电容的第一极板与OLED的正极相连接,其第二极板接地。
当G3为高电平时,T3被开启,则上述寄生电容Cline将被接入像素驱动电路,分别在第一侦测周期与第二侦测周期内对侦测电容Cline进行充电,采集并记录相应的数据。
在本发明实施例中,第一侦测周期与第二侦测周期各自划分为三个时序阶段,如图4所示,第一侦测周期的各时序阶段分别以重置1、充电1以及侦测1表示,第二侦测周期的各时序阶段分别以重置2、充电2以及侦测2表示。
在重置1时序中,使施加于T1的栅极的信号G1为高电平,以及使施加于T3的栅极的信号G3为高电平。由于G1为高电平,因此T1开启,此时数据线中传输的数据信号A具有第一栅极电压Vg1,如图4所示。该第一栅极电压Vg1经由T1施加于驱动晶体管T2的栅极,使T2的栅极电压G2被重置为Vg1。由于G3为高电平,因此T3开启,与此同时,在T3的漏极/源极端接入一电压信号,并使该电压信号具有第一参考电压Vref1。如图4所示,以B表示T3的漏极/源极端的电压。该第一参考电压Vref1经由T3施加于驱动晶体管T2的源极/漏极,使T2的源极/漏极电压VS被重置为Vref1。
需要说明的是,在对驱动晶体管T2的栅极电压与源极/漏极电压进行重置的过程中,同时在OLED的负极施加一恒定的高电平电压,如图4所示,使直流电压OVSS维持为高电平。这是由于在OLED未正常导通时,其内部会随着施加于其正极与负极之间的正向压差的增大而产生漏电流。为避免该漏电流对后面时序中的测量结果产生影响,在第一侦测周期与第二侦测周期的整个时序期间内,始终保持在OLED的负极施加高电平,以避免由于OLED的正极端的电压升高,导致正向压差增大,而产生的漏电流。
在根据本发明的一优选实施例中,将侦测用模数转换器的参考电压连接至OLED的负极。
在充电1时序中,使G1为低电平,使G3保持其高电平。由于G1为低电平,因此T1关闭,此时数据信号A不再对驱动晶体管T2的栅极产生影响。由于G3仍为高电平,因此T3维持开启的状态。但此时不再向T3的漏极/源极端施加电压信号,并同时利用直流电源OVDD向驱动晶体管T2的漏极/源极施加第一驱动电压Vd1,如图4所示。
由于存储电容Cs的作用,T2的栅极与其源极/漏极之间的电压差得以维持,即保持为Vg1-Vref1(即Vgs1)不变。在预先设定Vg1与Vref1时,使得两者之间的差值大于驱动晶体管T2的阈值电压,即T2会在Vgs1的作用下开启。
进一步地,在预先设定第一栅极电压Vg1、第一参考电压Vref1以及第一驱动电压Vd1的数值时,使得驱动晶体管T2在上述各电压配置下能够工作于饱和区。因此,在将第一驱动电压Vd1施加至T2的漏极/源极后,在T2的输出支路中将产生一恒定的电流I1。
由于OLED的负极连接有高电平的直流电压OVSS,因此,OLED不会导通。并且,在预先设定直流电压OVSS的高电平的具体的数值时,使得当T2的源极/漏极的电压VS充电至一高电压时,仍能保证OLED处于未导通状态。
在上述条件得到满足后,电流I1将维持恒定,并持续对侦测电容Cline进行充电,使得T2的源极/漏极的电压VS升高。而由于存储电容Cs的跨压保持,VS的电压呈线性升高,如图4中B所示。随着VS的升高,T2的栅极电压G2也被相应的抬高。
需要说明的是,当T3开启时,可以认为T2的源极/漏极的电压VS,即OLED的正极端的电压,与T3的漏极/源极端,即侦测电容Cline的第一极板处的电压相等。
在VS的值达到第一充电电压Vt1后,进入侦测1时序。在侦测1时序中,使G1维持为低电平,同时使G3为低电平,以关闭T3,此时,在T3的漏极/源极端,即侦测电容Cline的第一极板处,该第一充电电压Vt1得以保持。利用模数转换器从侦测电容Cline的第一极板处读取第一充电电压Vt1,并同时记录充电至该第一充电电压Vt1所用的第一充电时间t1。至此第一侦测周期结束,获取侦测数据Vt1与t1。
在随后的第二侦测周期内,重复与第一侦测周期内相同的操作,其具体时序参见图4,此处不再赘述。第二侦测周期结束后,可以获取侦测数据Vt2与t2,其中Vt2为第二充电电压,t2为与该第二充电电压对应的第二充电时间。
需要注意的是,在两次充电过程中,需保证存储电容在第一侦测周期内的两个极板之间的电压值与其在第二侦测周期内的两个极板之间的电压值不相等。
另外,在本发明一个具体的实施例中,在上述两个侦测周期的重置时序中,在向驱动晶体管T2的源极/漏极施加参考电压(第一参考电压或第二参考电压),使T2的源极/漏极电压VS被重置的过程中,在T2的漏极/源极端持续施加与第一参考电压Vref1(第一侦测周期)或与第二参考电压Vref2(第二侦测周期)相等的电压,如图4中OVDD所示。这样可以避免在对T2的源极/漏极进行充电的过程中,由于T2与T3输出路径上的电阻而产生分压,而导致的VS不能被充电至与Vref1或Vref2相等的电压值,影响侦测精度的问题。
接下来,在步骤S240中,基于侦测得到的第一充电电压Vt1与第一充电时间t1建立第一关系等式,如表达式(1)所示。基于侦测得到第二充电电压Vt2与第二充电时间t2建立第二关系等式,如表达式(2)所示。
在表达式(1)和表达式(2)中,Vth表示驱动晶体管T2的阈值电压,Vt1表示第一充电电压,Vt2表示第二充电电压,Vref1表示所述第一参考电压,Vref2表示所述第二参考电压,t1表示第一充电时间,t2表示第二充电时间。Vgs1表示第一侦测周期内,施加于驱动晶体管T2的栅极与其源极/漏极之间的电压,Vgs2表示第二侦测周期内,施加于驱动晶体管T2的栅极与其源极/漏极之间的电压。I1表示充电1时序中的充电电流,I2表示充电2时序中的充电电流。Cline表示侦测电容的电容值,k表示驱动晶体管T2的电压电流转换系数。
由表达式(1)与表达式(2)得到阈值电压Vth的计算表达式,如表达式(3)所示:
将上述侦测方法应用于OLED显示面板的显示区域内的每个像素,获取对应于每个像素的阈值电压。
为了进一步简化操作,在本发明的一个优选的实施例中,使第一栅极电压Vg1与第二栅极电压Vg2不相等,而使第一参考电压Vref1与第二参考电压Vref2相等,以满足Vgs1与Vgs2不相等的要求。进一步地,还可以同时使第一驱动电压Vd1与第二驱动电压Vd2相等。只要保证存储电容Cs在第一侦测周期内的两个极板之间的电压值与其在第二侦测周期内的两个极板之间的电压值不相等的关系得到满足,本领域的技术人员可以根据实际操作情况,合理设置各电压的数值,并可以对侦测电容Cline的充电时间进行调节,本发明对上述内容均不做限定。例如,当施加于驱动晶体管T2的栅极与其源极/漏极之间的电压较小时,VS的上升将变得缓慢,为了能够在模数转换器的线性度较好的范围对充电电压进行读取,就需要适当延长充电的时间。
接下来,在步骤S250中,根据得到的阈值电压建立阈值电压补偿表,根据阈值电压补偿表对像素驱动电路进行补偿。
在根据阈值电压补偿表对像素驱动电路进行补偿时,具体包括以下步骤,如图5所示:
步骤S510、接收与灰阶数据相对应的数字信号。
步骤S520、将数字信号转换为对应的模拟电压。
步骤S530、根据阈值电压补偿表获取与显示该灰阶数据的像素相对应的阈值电压补偿值,并根据转换得到的模拟电压与该阈值电压补偿值计算补偿后的模拟电压。
步骤S540、将补偿后的模拟电压转换为对应的数字信号,并据此对像素驱动电路进行补偿。
具体的,在步骤S510中,接收到的数字信号为根据图像的显示要求所确定的理论上的驱动电压的数字编码。在步骤S520中,利用Gamma IC对该数字信号进行处理,将其转换为未考虑阈值电压漂移时的驱动电压。在步骤S530中,查询阈值电压补偿表,计算考虑阈值电压漂移后的驱动电压。在步骤S540中,做与步骤S520相反的变换,利用Gamma IC将重新计算得到的驱动电压转换为相应的数字信号,该数字信号可以作为数据驱动电路的输入信号,对OLED显示面进行驱动。
本发明实施例所提供的像素驱动电路的补偿方法,只需要在现有像素驱动电路的基础上附加简单的结构,就可以对驱动晶体管的阈值电压实现侦测。
本发明实施例通过使驱动晶体管先后两次稳定工作在饱和区,就可以计算得到阈值电压的数值,操作简单,且能够显著提高阈值电压的侦测速度,可以避免电压电流转换系数对阈值电压的侦测精度的影响,同时有利于降低补偿成本。
虽然本发明所揭露的实施方式如上,但所述的内容只是为了便于理解本发明而采用的实施方式,并非用以限定本发明。任何本发明所属技术领域内的技术人员,在不脱离本发明所揭露的精神和范围的前提下,可以在实施的形式上及细节上作任何的修改与变化,但本发明的专利保护范围,仍须以所附的权利要求书所界定的范围为准。
Claims (10)
1.一种用于OLED显示面板的像素驱动电路的补偿方法,所述像素驱动电路包括驱动晶体管与存储电容,所述存储电容的第一极板与所述驱动晶体管的栅极相连接,其第二极板与所述驱动晶体管的源极/漏极以及OLED的正极相连接,所述补偿方法包括:
对应于每个像素,分别设置一侦测电容,使所述侦测电容的第一极板与所述OLED的正极相连接,并使所述侦测电容的第二极板接地;
利用所述驱动晶体管在第一侦测周期内将所述侦测电容充电至第一充电电压,并记录与该第一充电电压对应的第一充电时间;
利用所述驱动晶体管在第二侦测周期内将所述侦测电容充电至第二充电电压,并记录与该第二充电电压对应的第二充电时间;
基于所述第一充电电压、第一充电时间、第二充电电压、第二充电时间计算所述驱动晶体管的阈值电压;
基于所述阈值电压建立阈值电压补偿表,根据所述阈值电压补偿表对所述像素驱动电路进行补偿;
其中,在所述第一侦测周期内所述存储电容的两个极板之间的电压值与在所述第二侦测周期内其两个极板之间的电压值不相等。
2.根据权利要求1所述的补偿方法,其特征在于,所述利用所述驱动晶体管在第一侦测周期内将所述侦测电容充电至第一充电电压,包括:
重置所述驱动晶体管的栅极电压,使其具有第一栅极电压,重置所述驱动晶体管的源极/漏极电压,使其具有第一参考电压;
向所述驱动晶体管的漏极/源极施加第一驱动电压,所述第一驱动电压在所述第一充电时间内,经由所述驱动晶体管将所述侦测电容充电至所述第一充电电压。
3.根据权利要求2所述的补偿方法,其特征在于,所述第一栅极电压与所述第一参考电压之间的差值在所述第一充电时间内保持不变,且大于所述驱动晶体管的阈值电压,所述驱动晶体管在所述第一充电时间内处于饱和区。
4.根据权利要求3所述的补偿方法,其特征在于,所述利用所述驱动晶体管在第二侦测周期内将所述侦测电容充电至第二充电电压,包括:
重置所述驱动晶体管的栅极电压,使其具有第二栅极电压,重置所述驱动晶体管的源极/漏极电压,使其具有第二参考电压;
向所述驱动晶体管的漏极/源极施加第二驱动电压,所述第二驱动电压在所述第二充电时间内,经由所述驱动晶体管将所述侦测电容充电至所述第二充电电压。
5.根据权利要求4所述的补偿方法,其特征在于,所述第二栅极电压与所述第二参考电压之间的差值在所述第二充电时间内保持不变,且大于所述驱动晶体管的阈值电压,所述驱动晶体管在所述第二充电时间内处于饱和区。
6.根据权利要求5所述的补偿方法,其特征在于,在重置所述驱动晶体管的源极/漏极电压的过程中,
在所述第一侦测周期内,向所述驱动晶体管的漏极/源极持续施加与所述第一参考电压相等的电压;
在所述第二侦测周期内,向所述驱动晶体管的漏极/源极持续施加与所述第二参考电压相等的电压。
7.根据权利要求6所述的补偿方法,其特征在于,基于如下表达式计算所述驱动晶体管的阈值电压Vth:

8.根据权利要求5所述的补偿方法,其特征在于,所述第一栅极电压与所述第二栅极电压不相等,所述第一参考电压与所述第二参考电压相等,所述第一驱动电压与所述第二驱动电压相等。
9.根据权利要求1至8中任一项所述的补偿方法,其特征在于,所述对应于每个像素,分别设置一侦测电容,包括:
在所述OLED的正极设置一薄膜晶体管,所述薄膜晶体管的源极/漏极连接所述OLED的正极,位于同一列像素的所述薄膜晶体管的漏极/源极经由连接引线连接在一起,所述连接引线同时与指定芯片的指定管脚相连接;
存在于所述连接引线与地之间的寄生电容构成所述侦测电容。
10.根据权利要求1所述的补偿方法,其特征在于,所述根据所述阈值电压补偿表对所述像素驱动电路进行补偿,包括:
接收与灰阶数据相对应的数字信号;
将所述数字信号转换为对应的模拟电压;
根据所述阈值电压补偿表获取与显示该灰阶数据的像素相对应的阈值电压补偿值,并根据所述模拟电压与所述阈值电压补偿值计算补偿后的模拟电压;
将所述补偿后的模拟电压转换为对应的数字信号,并据此对所述像素驱动电路进行补偿。
