Abstract
本发明涉及制备组合物的方法,其中该方法包括通过机械、化学和/或酶处理而预处理纤维素纤维,将预处理的纤维素纤维和颜料混合形成分散体,并将该预处理的纤维素纤维和颜料的分散体分散,从而形成包含微纤维化纤维素的组合物。本发明进一步涉及根据该方法制备的组合物。
Description
技术领域
本发明涉及制备包含纤维化纤维素和颜料的组合物的方法。本发明还涉及该组合物。
背景技术
纤维化纤维素纤维为由纤维素纤维制备的材料,其中纤维的单独微纤维已彼此部分或完全分离。
微纤维化纤维素(MFC)(也称为纳米纤维素)为一种纤维化纤维素。MFC通常非常薄(约20nm)且长度通常为100nm至10μm。然而,微纤维也可更长,例如10-100μm。
纤维化纤维素可以以多种不同方式制备。可机械处理纤维素纤维使得形成微纤维。也可借助能断裂原纤维间的键或溶解纤维的不同化学物和/或酶从纤维素制备原纤维。制备MFC的一个实例示于WO2007091942,其描述了借助精制以及添加酶而制备MFC。
纤维化纤维素可应用于许多不同领域。在造纸工业中其可添加至纸或板的表面或添加至配料(furnish)。已表明添加纤维化纤维素可增加纸或板的强度。当用于纸张涂层应用时,其代替了合成或天然粘合剂如淀粉。因为纤维化纤维素在低固体含量时具有高增稠作用,其可用作增稠剂,固定剂,保水助剂,润滑剂,分散剂和/或稳定剂。然而,其也可用于许多其它技术领域,如食品工业、聚合物或塑料工业、涂料、陶瓷、油墨、复合工业(例如水泥)、橡胶工业、化妆品和药物工业。
包含纤维化纤维素(如MFC)的分散体在干含量低时具有高粘性、剪切稀化特性的透明凝胶外观。通常,包含约4%或更高浓度(consistency)的纤维化纤维素的组合物为非常稠的凝胶形式。具有高聚合度的非常纤化和细的材料在固体含量为约1重量%或更少时可能具有凝胶状特征。凝胶所具有的高粘度使得其非常难以以低剪切速率流动。这使得通过管和泵的处理非常困难,因此将其分配至不同的最终用途(例如分配至纸或板基底的表面)也非常困难。
因此,在基底表面生成纸或板的过程中经常不希望添加具有低干含量的组合物,因为其耗费许多能量来去除所添加的水,例如在干燥基底的过程中。添加具有低固体含量和强的剪切稀化特征的分散体也可能需要特殊的涂覆设备以防止在涂覆过程中太多的渗透和不均匀性。避免不需要的水添加的另一原因是节省运输成本、避免水和环境影响(碳足迹)。
解决这些问题的一种方式是在添加至组合物(例如颜料分散体)或添加至造纸机的湿部之前干燥所制备的MFC,但这是非常消耗能量的过程,且微纤维化纤维素可能具有显著不可逆的化学和物理结构变化。另一问题是可能需要湿润剂以促进干燥MFC的再分散。
因此需要以改善的方式制备纤维化纤维素干含量高的组合物的方法。
发明内容
本发明的一个目的是以改善的方式制备包含纤维化纤维素和颜料的组合物。
本发明另一目的是提供在高浓度时具有改善的流变学性质的包含纤维化纤维素和颜料的组合物。
这些目的和其它优点通过根据权利要求1所述的方法实现。本发明涉及制备组合物的方法,其中该方法包括通过机械、化学和/或酶处理而预处理纤维素纤维,将预处理的纤维素纤维与颜料混合形成分散体,将该预处理的纤维素纤维和颜料的分散体分散,由此形成包含纤维化纤维素纤维的组合物。
与颜料混合的预处理的纤维的浓度可较高,优选为1-50%重量。增加预处理的纤维的浓度,增加了制备具有高浓度的最终组合物的可能性。
该组合物的浓度可较高,优选为10-70%重量。通过根据本发明的方法,可制备具有高浓度的包含纤维化纤维素和颜料的组合物,同时该组合物的流变学性质良好。
优选增加分散过程中的温度。已表明通过增加温度(通过加热或由于分散过程的温度增加),可以以可控的方式制备接枝纤维化纤维素。
该分散优选在常规分散或混合设备中进行。因此无需对额外设备的投资。
形成的纤维化纤维素优选为微纤维化纤维素。当预处理的纤维素纤维与颜料一起分散时,该纤维将进一步纤化以形成更细的纤维素材料。这是由于在分散过程中发生的纤维和颜料之间的摩擦。因此可以以改善的方式制备包含微纤维化纤维素的组合物。
该预处理的纤维可为纤维素衍生物,如羧甲基纤维素(CMC)、羟丙基纤维素(HPC)、羟乙基纤维素(HEC)或乙基羟乙基纤维素(EHEC)。该纤维素衍生物优选具有低的取代度(DS)值,如果使用CMC则该DS值优选低于0.4。更高的DS值可溶解纤维素衍生物(当其与水或其它液体混合时)。
本发明进一步涉及根据上述方法制备的包含纤维化纤维素的组合物,其中该组合物还包含颜料。
所形成的组合物的纤维化纤维素可为接枝的。通过接枝该纤维,可改变纤维的性质,如电荷和粘度、刺激性质、溶解度和膜形成能力,因此赋予组合物不同的性质。
该组合物可包含基于颜料的量0.1-95%重量的纤维化纤维素。组合物的纤维化纤维素的量取决于组合物的最终用途。
该组合物还可包含单糖、二糖或寡糖。已表明短糖可作为分散剂,使得可进一步增加该组合物的浓度而不引起流变学问题。
该组合物中颜料的量取决于组合物的最终用途。如果该组合物用作涂覆颜料(coatingcolor),则该颜料可增加纸或板的印刷性质。如果用作屏障(barrier),该颜料可改善氧气传输率、水蒸气传输率、挡光性、挡气味性、加工性和/或成本。
该组合物优选具有10-70%重量的干含量。可提供具有高浓度的组合物,即使其包含通常引起涉及组合物的流变学的问题而使之非常难以处理的纤维化纤维素。
该纤维化纤维素可为微纤维化纤维素或纤维素衍生物,如CMC、HEC或EHEC。根据组合物的最终用途,组合物的纤化纤维可包括微纤维化纤维素或纤维素衍生物。该纤维化纤维素可用于增加例如纸或板的强度。
该纤维素衍生物优选具有低的取代度,例如如果使用CMC则该DS值优选低于0.4。这是由于纤维素衍生物可在更高DS值溶解,因此使得难以形成纤维化纤维素衍生物。而目前通常情况下并不使用具有低DS值的纤维素衍生物。本发明可提供具有纤维化纤维素衍生物的组合物,且因此使用这些衍生物作为强度增强剂。
发明详述
通过制备根据本发明的组合物,可增加该组合物的浓度而不延缓流变学性质。
该方法还使得可以非常成本有效的方式制备包含纤维化纤维素,如微纤维化纤维素的组合物。
该组合物包含纤维化纤维素纤维。该纤维素纤维被预处理且该预处理可通过机械,化学和/或酶进行。预处理的目的是将纤维预活化或预纤化,使得它们对后续处理更有活性和反应性。
优选该预处理至少通过部分酶处理进行,优选与机械和/或化学处理组合。在酶处理过程中,纤维素纤维将分解、释放或修饰,形成预处理的纤维,同时将形成单糖、二糖或寡糖。已表明单糖、二糖或寡糖可作为组合物中的分散剂,使得可增加组合物的浓度。
预处理优选在高浓度时进行。可以高浓度预处理纤维素纤维且仍然将它们纤化为一定程度。优选预处理的纤维(即包含预处理的纤维的浆液)的浓度为1-50%重量,且更优选为15-50%重量。通过增加预处理的纤维的浓度,较容易制备具有高浓度的组合物,因为添加水较少。本发明的一个大的优点为其可在例如工厂或车间现场制备该组合物。因此可预处理纤维素纤维以将其纤化,然后将预处理的纤维运输至工厂或车间。因此一个优点为可增加预处理的纤维的浓度,因为运输的水的量减少。预处理的程度取决于最终用途以及随后的分散将持续多久。一些工厂或车间具有使颜料长时间混合或分散的过程,则该预处理可非常轻微。然而,其它工厂或车间不具有长时间混合的时间条件,则该预处理必须更彻底。
该预处理的纤维随后与颜料混合形成分散体。该颜料可为干燥的或为浆液形式。将该预处理的纤维和颜料分散或混合,从而形成纤维化纤维素纤维。在分散过程中该颜料将与纤维碰撞从而进一步纤化纤维。在分散过程中,通过包含预处理的纤维和颜料的分散体的粘度(viscosity)变化,观察到上述效果。经常使用所形成的纤维化纤维素以增加其中使用该组合物的最终产物的强度。然而,其也可用于赋予最终产物其它物理和化学性质,如增加持水能力、干燥性质、加工性、屏障或热性质。在砖和陶器中,在制备包含空气的最终产物的过程中燃烧纤维,从而降低产物的重量。以这种方式可提供具有优异的声音屏障性质和温度屏障性质的产物。
该分散因此导致形成包含纤维化纤维素和颜料两者的组合物。该组合物可制备成高浓度,而不存在包含纤维化纤维素的组合物常见的流变学问题。通常,具有低浓度和高粘度的MFC可添加至颜料分散体,但该分散体的最终固体含量相对低。然而,通过将预处理的纤维与颜料混合,可获得具有高浓度的组合物,优选浓度为10-70%重量。在根据本发明的方法中,可完成预处理的纤维的纤化,同时以非常经济有利的方式制备包含纤维化纤维素和颜料的分散体。通过在颜料的存在下形成纤维化纤维素,防止了纤维捆束的能力,从而防止组合物的粘度增加。因此可增加根据本发明的组合物的浓度。
可增加分散过程中的温度,优选高于70-80℃,这可通过加热或由于分散的原因而达到。在更高的固体含量时,更多的能量转换为热,因此纤维化纤维素或颜料上的同时接枝可由单独添加的成分如CMC或在所述纤化过程从纤维纤化或去除的成分制成。在分散过程中,纤化纤维的产生可导致组合物的温度增加,这也可促进接枝。通常该接枝在单独的步骤中进行,而这使得既能控制颗粒尺寸又能使接枝在一个加工步骤中进行。
本发明的另一巨大优点为该方法不需要新的或另外的设备。分散优选在已用于制备包含颜料的组合物的常规分散或混合设备中进行。因此无需对额外设备的投资。因此,可在工厂中已有的设备中制备包含纤维化纤维素和颜料的组合物。
形成的纤维化纤维素优选为微纤维化纤维素。当预处理的纤维素纤维与颜料一起分散时,该纤维将进一步纤化以形成更细的材料。这是由于在分散或混合过程中发生的纤维和颜料之间的摩擦。因此可制备包含微纤维化纤维素的组合物。通过改变预处理和分散条件,例如时间、温度或pH,可控制纤维的长度和纤维纤化的程度。以这种方式可改变方法,由此形成微纤维化纤维素。还可通过根据本发明的方法制备非常细的微纤维化纤维素或纳米纤维素。
该预处理的纤维还可为纤维素衍生物,如羧甲基纤维素(CMC)、羟丙基纤维素(HPC)、羟乙基纤维素(HEC)、乙基羟乙基纤维素(EHEC),或纤维素衍生物的中间产物或不合格产品(rejectsofcellulosederivates)。该纤维素衍生物优选具有低的取代度(DS)值。如果使用CMC,该DS值优选低于0.4。当其与水或其它液体混合时更高的DS值将溶解纤维素衍生物,因此不会发生纤化。而目前通常情况下并不使用具有低DS值的纤维素衍生物。因此,本发明可提供具有低DS值的纤维素衍生物的用途并使用这些衍生物作为例如强度增强剂。
根据本发明制备的组合物将具有改善的流变学性质,即使浓度很高。通常,包含纤维化纤维素和颜料的组合物的粘度将增加。这是由于纤维化纤维素的存在,如上所述,容易形成凝胶且具有非常的剪切稀化性质。
该组合物可包含基于颜料的量0.1-95%重量的纤维化纤维素。组合物的纤维化纤维素的量取决于组合物的最终用途,且可在一些特定应用中非常高,如屏障膜或涂料(paint)。
该组合物可包含单糖、二糖或寡糖。已表明短糖作为分散剂存在可进一步增加该组合物的浓度而不引起流变学问题。该短糖可为糖,优选葡萄糖、木聚糖、甘露糖、甘露聚糖和/或纤维糊精如纤维二糖、纤维三糖、纤维四糖、纤维五糖、纤维六糖和/或纤维-寡糖。
颜料的量决于组合物的最终用途。然而,太低的量将不会使纤维充分纤化。该颜料可赋予基于纤维的基底良好的印刷性质、良好的视觉外观和/或其它功能如光学或感官性质。
组合物的颜料优选为研磨的或沉淀的碳酸钙、锻烧粘土、滑石、高岭土、膨润土或其它溶胀性粘土、氧化铝(Al2O3)、氢氧化铝(ATH)、塑料颜料、二氧化硅、石膏、二氧化钛,有机颜料,如淀粉颜料或硬脂酸钙分散体和/或任意这些颜料的混合物。该组合物可包含分散剂或润滑剂。优选添加聚丙烯酸、丙烯酸酯共聚物、丙烯酸的钠盐、聚丙烯酸、马来酸、聚马来酸、柠檬酸钠、丙二酸钠、琥珀酸钠、苹果酸钠、谷氨酸钠、多磷酸盐、硬脂酸钙、PEG和/或甘油三酯、六偏磷酸钠(SHMP)、聚乙烯醇、聚醋酸乙烯酯、部分水解的醋酸乙烯酯(PVOH/Ac)、正硅酸钠、聚铝酸钠、四硼酸钠,双极有机分散剂如乙二醇、甲醇、甲基胺、丙基胺、苯胺,或多极分散剂如聚氧化乙烯和聚乙烯衍生物。
该组合物可用作表面施胶配方(surfacesizerecipe)或涂覆颜料,其添加至基于纤维的基底的表面。该组合物包含纤维化纤维素(其增加涂层的强度)和颜料(其改善基底的表面性质)。该组合物也可用于分散体屏障涂层。还可将组合物添加至基于纤维的配料(furnish),例如在造纸机或纸板机的湿部添加至配料。以这种方式该组合物将用作纤维且既增加纤维的基于纤维的产物的强度又改善基底的表面性质。其它可能的最终用途可作为以下的成分:涂料、水泥、陶瓷、食品、化妆品、复合物、药物、沥青、橡胶或其它可能的最终用途(在该用途中可使用具有良好流变学性质的干含量高的包含纤维化纤维素和颜料的组合物)。
该组合物也可包含常规粘合剂如胶乳,或淀粉,以及其它涂覆颜料成分如光学增白剂、交联剂、流变修饰剂、颜料增效剂(pigmentextender)、润滑剂、分散剂、消泡剂等。
已纤化且在表面具有微纤维的纤维和被分离且位于分散体或组合物的水相中的微纤维也包括在微纤维化纤维素的定义中。术语微纤维化纤维素(MFC)如上所述也包括纳米纤维素,以及纤维素纳米微晶体、纤维素晶须、纤维细料和/或其混合物。
该纤维化纤维素纤维可由任何类型的纤维素纤维制备,优选木纤维,如软木或硬木纤维。然而,也可使用其它原料,如竹子、农产品、象草和其它包含纤维素纤维的材料。
Claims (9)
1.制备组合物的方法,其中该方法包括以下步骤:
-通过机械、化学和/或酶处理而预处理纤维素纤维,
-将预处理的纤维素纤维与颜料混合以形成分散体,
-分散该预处理的纤维素纤维和颜料的分散体,从而形成包含微纤维化纤维素的组合物;
其中通过加热将分散过程中的温度升高到高于70℃。
2.根据权利要求1所述的方法,其中该预处理的纤维的浓度为1-50%重量。
3.根据上述权利要求任一项所述的方法,其中该组合物的浓度为10-70%重量。
4.根据权利要求1或2所述的方法,其中分散过程中的温度增加至高于80℃。
5.根据权利要求1或2所述的方法,其中所述分散在常规分散或混合设备中进行。
6.根据权利要求1或2所述的方法,其中该预处理的纤维为纤维素衍生物。
7.根据权利要求6所述的方法,其中所述纤维素衍生物为羟丙基纤维素(HPC)、羟乙基纤维素(HEC)或乙基羟乙基纤维素(EHEC)。
