本发明涉及适形的压敏泡沫粘合胶带,特别是利用闭孔聚烯烃泡沫芯的高性能压敏泡沫粘合胶带。
背景
粘结强度非常高的双面闭孔泡沫粘合胶带是用于诸如粘结挡风雨条、铭牌、装饰品等许多应用中。双面闭孔泡沫粘合胶带提供了适形于刚性配合表面不规则部分的能力,即使在可能存在轻微不匹配时也能适形。在这些应用中,往往重要的是粘合胶带要具有高剥离附着力,例如当根据PSTC#101的程序A测试时,在15分钟的驻留时间情况下对不锈钢的180°剥离力大于6或7psi。泡沫粘合剂对于比较多的种类的表面材料表现良好并且具有耐水和耐溶剂性,这在商业上也是重要的。
可商购的高性能压敏泡沫粘合胶带通常利用闭孔丙烯酸泡沫芯,和涂布到丙烯酸泡沫芯上的高粘结强度压敏丙烯酸粘合剂。可商购的产品通常以卷筒提供,用聚烯烃隔离衬垫(release liner)覆盖丙烯酸泡沫芯一侧上的丙烯酸粘合剂层,并分隔了所述卷筒中的相邻粘合剂层。虽然压敏丙烯酸泡沫粘合胶带的性能通常非常好,但丙烯酸泡沫胶带往往比较昂贵。

概述
本发明涉及泡沫粘合胶带,其具有闭孔聚烯烃泡沫芯、具有聚丙烯酸酯主链和修饰的甲硅烷基官能团的压敏粘合剂,以及聚硅氧烷涂布的隔离衬垫。具有聚丙烯酸酯主链和修饰的甲硅烷基官能团的压敏粘合剂可商购获得,并且本领域已知这种压敏粘合剂对多种多样的表面材料具有高粘结强度。然而,已发现,具有聚丙烯酸酯主链和修饰的甲硅烷基官能团的压敏粘合剂与常用的硅树脂隔离衬垫发生反应,并与此类隔离衬垫形成不期望的粘结。根据本发明,所述隔离衬垫上的涂层基本上由铂催化聚合的聚硅氧烷组成。已发现,铂催化的聚硅氧烷涂层不与具有聚丙烯酸酯主链和修饰的甲硅烷基官能团的压敏粘合剂反应,并且不损害胶带性能或保存期。
优选的泡沫芯是挤出的辐射固化的聚乙烯泡沫芯,但也可以使用聚丙烯或聚烯烃共混物,只要所述泡沫满足指定应用的性能标准即可。例如,在本发明示例性实施方案中,所述泡沫芯的密度在300-800kg/m3的范围内,拉伸强度在400-600psi的范围内,厚度在0.66-0.86mm的范围内,伸长率在400-600%的范围内。所述聚烯烃泡沫芯应不含低分子量物质,例如经常用作挤出制造加工助剂的增滑剂、蜡、油或硬脂酸酯(或盐)。已发现,如果聚烯烃泡沫中存在低分子量物质,则甲硅烷基修饰的的聚丙烯酸酯粘合剂将吸引所述低分子量物质,导致它们迁移到粘合剂中。此种迁移使粘合剂性能降低。因此,期望所述聚烯烃泡沫不含低分子量物质。
还优选所述防粘涂层不利用本领域通常使用的控制防粘剂配制。在隔离衬垫上使用此类防粘剂也已被证明会损害粘合剂性能。
如所提及的,所述压敏粘合剂是甲硅烷基修饰的的聚丙烯酸酯。优选的粘合剂组成为:94.75份基体聚合物(74.9%的丙烯酸2-乙基己酯、7%的丙烯酸异冰片酯、15%的丙烯酸甲酯、3%的丙烯酸、0.1%的甲基丙烯酰氧基丙基三甲氧基硅烷)、0.125份乙酰丙酮铝和5份甲硅烷基封端的聚环氧丙烷。已发现,根据本发明构建的粘合泡沫胶带提供了相当大的粘着和剥离强度,例如当利用PSTC#101程序A测试时,在15分钟驻留时间情况下具有大于7psi的剥离力(室温下对不锈钢的180度剥离试验);而且,还具有高性能的剪切附着力,例如当根据PSTC#107程序A测试时,在10psi下对不锈钢具有无限的剪切强度,以及在20psi下具有大于2,000分钟的剪切强度。所述粘合泡沫胶带还具有耐溶剂性和耐紫外线性。
考虑了本发明主要利用层合到闭孔聚烯烃泡沫芯两侧上的压敏粘合剂实现;但也考虑了单侧实施方案。双面胶带通常以卷筒形式提供,并且在此种情况下,隔离衬垫在其两侧上具有铂催化聚合的聚硅氧烷涂层。在使用所述胶带时,将它展开并将泡沫胶带的敞开粘合剂表面放置在主要表面上并施加压力以便确保100%接触。举例来说,这可以利用辊完成。然后除去隔离衬垫,将洁净的次要表面施加到泡沫胶带上的暴露压敏粘合剂上,并施加均匀的压力以确保配合部分完全接触。所述泡沫的机械性质允许所述泡沫扭曲和适应于配合表面之间的结构不一致部分。

在示例性实施方案中,将粘合剂16、18层沉积至足以在溶剂除去后达到80±10g/m2的厚度。此种具有甲硅烷基修饰的的聚丙烯酸酯压敏粘合剂16、18的聚烯烃泡沫胶带提供了优异的高粘着和剥离强度平衡。所述胶带具有高的剥离附着力和内聚力,即当根据PSTC#101程序A测试时,在15分钟驻留时间情况下对不锈钢的180°剥离力大于7psi。当根据PSTC#107标准(程序A)测试时,在10psi下对不锈钢具有无限的粘合剪切强度,且在20psi下具有大于2000分钟的粘合剪切强度。Polyken探头测试(ASTM D-2979)揭示,在1秒后除去需要大于700克的力,且在5秒后除去需要925克力。所述粘合剂还提供了良好的耐温性,因为它允许在从-30°F至+180°F的环境中的有用粘结。
现参考图3,隔离衬垫12包括基底膜或薄片24以及铂催化聚合的聚硅氧烷涂层26、28。基底膜24优选由聚丙烯制成,具有0.1mm(4mil)厚度。此种膜24提供了对于施加胶带有帮助的足够的强度。但是,根据具体应用,其它材料也可能适合用作隔离衬垫的基材材料24,所述其它材料例如聚乙烯、聚烯烃共混物、金属箔、纸等。
在图3中,隔离衬垫20的基材层24的两侧涂布有铂催化聚合的聚硅氧烷。用热固化的铂催化聚合的聚硅氧烷直接涂布聚烯烃隔离衬垫20,使涂层厚度为约0.013mm(0.5mil)。期望所述铂催化聚合的聚硅氧烷涂层26、28不含有控制防粘剂,例如三甲基硅氧烷、二甲基硅氧烷和硅氧烷。已发现,此类成分将与甲硅烷基修饰的的聚丙烯酸酯粘合剂16、18反应并损害粘合剂性能。
如所提及的,已发现铂催化聚合的聚硅氧烷涂层26、28不与粘合剂16、18反应,从而允许所述粘合剂维持最佳的性能和保存期。测试还证明,除去所述铂催化剂或替换所述催化剂将产生不理想的涂层,这继而损害粘合剂性能和保存期。例如,利用锡和铑催化剂进行的测试导致受损的粘合剂性能和保存期。另一方面,热固化的铂催化的聚硅氧烷涂层26、28不与所述粘合剂反应,并且不损害粘合剂性能。
制造所述胶带的优选方法涉及多步骤层合方法。图4示出制造方法中的第一道次层合物30。第一步骤涉及用铂催化聚合的聚硅氧烷涂料涂布防粘垫层,即将所述铂催化聚合的聚硅氧烷涂料涂布在基底膜(例如,聚乙烯膜)上并进行热固化。然后,使铂催化聚合的聚硅氧烷涂布的隔离衬垫通过膜生产线涂布头,从而在涂布的隔离衬垫20的一侧上施加溶剂基粘合剂。优选地,如所提及的,沉积足以在溶剂除去后达到80±10g/m2的量的液体粘合剂。合适的溶剂共混物为乙酸乙酯、异丙醇、甲醇和乙酸乙烯酯。粘合剂与溶剂的比例不是关键的,但50%的粘合剂:50%的溶剂是合适的。溶剂除去通过使液体粘合剂涂布的聚烯烃隔离衬垫20通过一系列具有受控空气流的加热区中完成。在这个过程期间,重要的是不要使铂催化聚合的聚硅氧烷涂层26、28过热。在250°F以上加热涂层26、28可以引起许多缺陷,并也可以使可损害粘合剂性能的低分子量物质减少。隔离衬垫20上粘合剂16的溶剂含量应当低于3%。然后将所述粘合剂涂布的隔离衬垫冷却至环境温度。这允许后续层合步骤期间的尺寸稳定性。
第一层合步骤将粘合剂涂布的隔离衬垫20、16与闭孔聚烯烃泡沫14结合在一起。如所提及的,闭孔聚烯烃膜在不存在低分子量物质(例如,增滑剂和加工助剂)的情况下制造,因为此类低分子量物质对粘合剂性能是有害的。特别地,已发现,专门除去硬脂酸锌和硬脂酸钙特别重要。
在轧辊间层合之前,聚烯烃泡沫芯14的表面能必须超过约56达因/cm2,以便确保所述泡沫皮层与粘合剂16之间有充足的锚固性。具有在前面所述范围内的密度、拉伸强度、厚度和伸长率的闭孔聚乙烯泡沫在其正常状态下通常具有20-40达因/cm2的标称表面能。因此,可能需要通过电晕放电来处理上游的闭孔聚乙烯泡沫,以便增大表面能。在没有足够表面能的情况下,粘合剂16将不能锚固到泡沫14上,并且所述产品将不能充分地发挥其作用。层合方法的第一步骤产生图4中示出的第一道次中间物30(注意图4中的隔离衬垫20包括图3中示出的铂催化聚合的聚硅氧烷涂层26、28,但它们没有在图4中具体地示出)。
第二道次中间物利用牺牲隔离衬垫制备。牺牲隔离衬垫通常使用纸基材以便降低成本,但也包括类似于图3所示涂层26的热固化的铂催化聚合的硅氧烷涂层。不需要在牺牲隔离衬垫的背面上提供热固化的铂催化聚合的聚硅氧烷涂层。使涂布的牺牲隔离衬垫通过膜生产线涂布头,在这里它将由溶剂基液体粘合剂涂布,如以上针对第一道次中间物描述的。再次,在不使铂催化聚合的聚硅氧烷涂层过热的情况下,通过使液体粘合剂涂布的牺牲隔离衬垫通过一系列具有受控空气流的加热区来除去溶剂。除去溶剂后,将具有粘合剂的牺牲隔离衬垫冷却从而允许在第二层合步骤期间的尺寸稳定性。与第一道次中间物30一样,牺牲隔离衬垫上粘合剂的溶剂含量应当低于3%。然后利用轧辊,将第二道次中间物,即具有粘合剂涂层的牺牲隔离衬垫层合到第一道次中间物30的未涂布泡沫14上。如前所讨论,重要的是泡沫14的表面能应超过约56达因/cm2,以便确保泡沫皮层14与粘合剂18之间有充足的锚固性。然后除去牺牲隔离衬垫,并将双面粘合剂涂布的泡沫胶带12以第二道次粘合剂在内侧而聚烯烃隔离衬垫在外侧的方式缠绕。
图5和图6示出本发明的另一个实施方案,其中粘合剂16涂布在聚烯烃泡沫14的单侧上。在这种情况下,如图6所示,隔离衬垫32与在先实施方案一样包括基底膜或薄片34,但仅需要在隔离衬垫32的一侧上提供铂催化聚合的聚硅氧烷涂层36。这个实施方案优选以与第一实施方案几乎相同的方式制造,不同的是仅需要一个层合步骤来将粘合剂16锚固到泡沫芯14上。
虽然本发明已参考以上陈述的特定实施方案和附图进行描述,但本领域技术人员应当明了,本发明的方面可以以其它实施方案实现。
Claims (16)
1.一种高粘结强度压敏泡沫粘合胶带,其包含:
闭孔聚烯烃泡沫芯;
在所述聚烯烃泡沫芯的至少一侧上的压敏粘合剂,所述压敏粘合剂具有聚丙烯酸酯主链和修饰的甲硅烷基官能团;和
涂布的隔离衬垫,其中所述隔离衬垫上的涂层基本上由铂催化聚合的聚硅氧烷组成。
2.根据权利要求1所述的高粘结强度压敏泡沫粘合胶带,其中所述涂布的隔离衬垫包含聚烯烃材料的涂布薄片。
3.根据权利要求1所述的高粘结强度压敏泡沫粘合胶带,其中所述隔离衬垫上的所述涂层是热固化的。
4.根据权利要求1所述的高粘结强度压敏泡沫粘合胶带,其中所述闭孔聚烯烃泡沫芯是不含低分子量物质的挤出的辐射固化的聚烯烃泡沫。
5.根据权利要求1所述的高粘结强度压敏泡沫粘合胶带,其中所述泡沫的密度在300-800kg/m3的范围内。
6.根据权利要求1所述的高粘结强度压敏泡沫粘合胶带,其中所述泡沫的拉伸强度在400-600psi的范围内。
7.根据权利要求1所述的高粘结强度压敏泡沫粘合胶带,其中所述泡沫的厚度在0.66-0.86mm的范围内。
8.一种高粘结强度压敏泡沫粘合胶带,其中所述泡沫具有至少400%的伸长率。
9.根据权利要求1所述的高粘结强度压敏泡沫粘合胶带,其中所述铂催化聚合的聚硅氧烷涂层不包含三甲基硅氧烷、二甲基硅氧烷或硅氧烷。
10.根据权利要求1所述的高粘结强度压敏泡沫粘合胶带,其中所述铂催化聚合的聚硅氧烷防粘涂层不含有控制防粘剂。
11.根据权利要求1所述的高粘结强度压敏泡沫粘合胶带,其中所述粘合剂的特征在于当根据PSTC#101程序A测试时,在15分钟驻留时间情况下具有大于7psi的180°剥离力。
12.根据权利要求1所述的高粘结强度压敏泡沫粘合胶带,其特征进一步在于当根据PSTC#107程序A测试时,在10psi下具有无限的剪力。
13.根据权利要求1所述的高粘结强度压敏泡沫粘合胶带,其特征在于当根据PSTC#107程序A测试时,在20psi下具有大于2000分钟的剪力。
14.根据权利要求1所述的高粘结强度压敏泡沫粘合剂,其中所述胶带是双面涂布的粘合泡沫胶带,其进一步包含:
在所述闭孔聚烯烃泡沫芯的两侧上的粘合剂,并且在所述聚烯烃泡沫芯的两侧上的所述粘合剂具有聚丙烯酸酯主链和修饰的甲硅烷基官能团。
15.根据权利要求14所述的高粘结强度压敏泡沫粘合胶带,其中所述泡沫胶带以卷筒提供,并且所述涂布的隔离衬垫包含基本上由在所述涂布的隔离衬垫两侧上的铂催化聚合的聚硅氧烷组成。
16.根据权利要求14所述的高粘结强度压敏泡沫粘合剂,其进一步包含另外的涂布的隔离衬垫,其中所述另外的涂布的隔离衬垫上的涂层基本上由铂催化聚合的聚硅氧烷组成,使得所述相应涂布的隔离衬垫之一覆盖所述聚烯烃泡沫芯的每一侧上的粘合剂。
