本发明保证较长时间储存产品,而不变坏。本发明提供了一种防止冰箱的产品抽屉内发生凝结的方法。在又一个实施例中,通过吸收乙烯,本发明保证减轻蔬菜和水果的成熟。本发明将湿度进一步控制在满足蔬菜和水果储存的范围内。在另一个实施例中,根据下面所做的详细描述,这些以及其他优点将是显而易见的。
本发明的产品防腐制品包括:在储藏室内有效混合的保湿剂和吸附剂的混合物,在湿度约85或者90%以上时,它会吸收过量水分,而当水含量低于约70或者80%时,它将水分释放到该储藏室的空气中。通过这样做,该制品将水分控制在产品食材通常希望的数量,即,在储藏室内的湿度水平不足以产生冷凝,但是足以保持产品食材膨胀的范围内。在此用到的产品食材既指水果又指蔬菜。在蔬菜中,包括诸如芜菁和欧洲防风草的根类食材。

在打算与采用阻氧性材料包封的产品一起使用的产品防腐制品中,该材料还可以含有吸氧剂。这可以防止该产品腐烂。与此同时,可以对该产品保持湿度,以致它可以长期存放在包装内。在产品抽屉中附加采用吸氧体不是太有效,它会因为抽屉被打开和关闭使氧进入而迅速耗尽。可以采用诸如二价铁或者具有适当电解液的二价铁的吸氧材料。在可以由波长低于380nm的紫外线光照射有效活化的诸如基于蒽醌的除氧化合物的抗氧化剂中,可以利用紫外光活化除氧。优选在母体聚合物中存在次级羟基氢氧基官能度,而无需任何基于过渡金属的催化剂。诸如US 5,350,622(Speer等人)和US 6,569,506中的除氧剂材料也适用。
