Le dessin annexé représente, à titre d'exemple, une forme d'exécution de l'objet de l'invention, ainsi qu'une variante de détail ; La fig. 1 est une vue de face de la ma chine dont une partie a été enlevée pour représenter plus clairement certains éléments de la machine; La fig. 2 est une vue de bout du côté gauche de la machine à plus grande échelle; La fig. 3 est une coupe, à plus grande échelle, suivant la ligne 3-3 de la fig. 1; La fig. 4 est une coupe verticale d'un dispositif d'entraînement représenté sur la fig. 1;
Display machine. The invention relates to a display machine, which can be used to successively display a series of notices or announcements, such as for example the stopping stations of a train or the various acts of a room on a theatrical scene. According to the invention, the display machine comprises two rotating rollers, a strip with indication to be displayed arranged to be wound up on one of them and to be unwound on the other, an electric motor to control the two rollers, clutch system for connecting the engine by means of friction linkage devices, with one or the other of the rollers,
so as to drive it in rotation and control stopping means put in relation to the motor so as to stop the rotation of the rollers at the same time as the excitation of the motor ceases without this giving rise to excessive shocks on engine parts.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention, as well as a variant of detail; Fig. 1 is a front view of the machine, part of which has been removed to more clearly represent certain elements of the machine; Fig. 2 is an end view of the left side of the machine on a larger scale; Fig. 3 is a section, on a larger scale, along line 3-3 of FIG. 1; Fig. 4 is a vertical section of a driving device shown in FIG. 1;
Fig. â is a schematic view of an electrical circuit; Fig. G is a front view showing a variant of part of the machine; Fig. 7 is an end view of the variant shown in FIG. at.
As seen in Figs. 1 to 4 of the sin, 8 represents a frame in which are mounted so as to be able to rotate two rollers 9 and 10 rigidly fixed to shafts 11 and 12 respectively. 13 shows a poster canvas, forming the aforementioned strip, on which the advertisements or notices to be displayed are printed or otherwise affixed. 14 designates an electric motor driving, by means of a worm (not shown), a helical toothed wheel 14 (fig. 4) mounted with a keyway and keyway on the drive shaft 16. The toothed wheel 15 is adapted to drive the shaft 16, but the latter can however move longitudinally in the wheel 15.
Two clutch collars 18 and 19 fixed to the drive shaft 16 cooperate respectively with the clutch faces with ratchet teeth of two chain wheels 20 and 21 which are mounted idly on the shaft 16. A chain 22 unites the wheel 20 with another chain wheel 23 which can turn on the shaft 12. The wheel 23 abuts against a collar 24 fixed on the shaft 12 and it is held against this collar by a pressure spring 25, of which the 'one end abuts against a collar 26 fixed on the shaft 12 and the other end of which rests on a collar 27 mounted with a groove and key on the shaft 12 so as to be able to slide on it, said collar 27 being in contact with a friction disc 28 so as to press it against the wheel 23.
Thanks to this arrangement, when the wheel 23 rotates, it drives, through the intermediary of this friction connection, the shaft 12 and the roller 10 fixed to the latter.
The chain wheel 21 is also mounted so as to drive a chain 29, which drives a chain wheel 30 arranged to rotate on the shaft 11 and which abuts against a collar 31 fixed on this shaft. A pressure spring 32, one end of which abuts against a collar 33 fixed to the shaft 11 and the other end of which bears on a sliding collar 34 with a keyway and groove on the same shaft 11, pushes the collar 34 and the friction disc 35 against the chain wheel 30, so that when the wheels 21 and 30 are driven, the latter, through the intermediary of the friction connection just mentioned, drives to its turn the shaft 11 and consequently the roller 9 which is fixed on the latter.
When the electric motor is rotated in one direction, the clutch tooth face of the clutch collar 18 engages the clutch tooth face of the wheel 20; in fact, in this case, as a result of the different orientation of the clutch teeth on the collars 18, 19, the toothed face of the collar 19 can slide on the corresponding face of the wheel 21 and pushes the shaft 16 towards the left as shown in FIG. 4, so that the clutch collar 18 engages with the chain wheel 20 which it drives.
Likewise, when the engine is rotated in the reverse direction, the toothed face of the clutch collar 18 slides over the corresponding face of the chain wheel 20 and pushes the shaft 16 to the right, putting the clutch collar on. 19 engaged with the chain wheel 21 and thus producing the drive of the latter.
Thus, when the electric motor is energized so as to rotate in one direction, it drives the roller XO and winds thereon the canvas 13, the roller 9 allowing the canvas 13 to unwind and when the electric motor 14 is energized so as to turning in the opposite direction, it drives the roller 9 causing the winding of the fabric 13 on it and letting the roller 10 unwind the fabric. In order to prevent, when the motor ceases to be excited, that the inertia of the rotating parts continues to rotate one or the other of the rollers 9 or 10, means are provided for stopping the rotation of the- rolls 9 or 10.
For this purpose, a toothed wheel 38 is fixed on the shaft 11 and a toothed wheel 39 on the shaft 12, each of these wheels having a number of uniformly spaced teeth as shown in FIG. 2. Between these toothed wheels is arranged a pivoting balance 40, at one end of which is connected a rod 41 whose upper end carries a finger or a tooth 42 sliding in a fixed guide 43 and adapted to engage with the teeth of the wheel 38. On the other side, a rod 44 is connected to the balance 40 and at the lower end of the rod 44, there is a tooth 45 sliding in a fixed guide 46 and adapted to engage with the teeth of the wheel 39.
The balance 40 also carries an armature 47 which can be attracted by an electromagnet 48 comprising two coils 49 and 50 (FIG. 1) inserted into the excitation circuit of the electric motor. A spring 51 tends to move the armature 47 away from the electromagnet 48, thus forcing the beam 40 to act on the rods 41 and 44 so as to put the teeth 42 and 45 in engagement with the teeth of the wheels 38 and 39 in order to prevent the rotational movement of rollers 9 and 10.
Given the relatively large number of evenly spaced teeth on wheels 38 and 39, the rollers are instantly stopped when the electromagnet ceases to be energized, with teeth or fingers 42 and 45 engaging their corresponding wheels, so that the fabric is promptly stopped when the current is cut in the circuit of the motor controlled as will be described below. Thanks to this device, "overshooting" by the display of the desired position is avoided.
This overshoot is a serious objection to the use of continuous canvas display machines, as the error or "overshoot" is added with every machine operation, so that with an "overshoot" d n a fraction of a centimeter with each movement, the indications on the poster may, after a series of movements, be far enough from the exhibition window to be partially hidden. At the very moment when the motor is energized to drive one of the rollers 9, 10, the electromagnet 48 is also energized and attracts the armature 47; the balance 40 oscillates and releases the teeth 42 and 45 of the wheels 38 and 39 thus allowing the rollers 9 and 10 to be actuated so as to wind the canvas 13 on one of them and to unwind it from the other.
When the motor ceases to be energized and the rollers are stopped, the friction links of the shafts 11 and 12 allow the motor and the control gear to continue to rotate under the action of their live force in such a way. gradually come to a standstill without shocks and without effort. So that the motor can cease to be excited and that the movement of the strip can be automatically stopped when the latter has reached the display position, means are provided for putting the interruption of the current supplying the motor in relation to the movements of the canvas. For this, the canvas is provided with distance in distance vertical slits arranged opposite the part of the canvas which is to be exposed.
A finger 52 cooperates with the slots of the fabric 13; the finger 52, which pivots at -53, is normally retained in the position indicated in solid lines in FIG. 3, by the tension of the spring 54. On the other side of the pivot 53 and forming one piece with the finger 52 is a cam 55 cooperating with an elastic switch piece 56 which can be pushed against an electrical contact 57 located in the motor circuit: The upper end of the elastic part 56 is rigidly fixed to the electrical terminal 58. Opposite the fabric 13 is placed a thin plate 59 provided with a slot 60.
When a slit of the fabric 13 comes in front of the slit 60 of this plate, the finger 52 can pass through the slit of the fabric 13 and assume the position shown in solid lines in FIG. 3. In this position, the elastic piece 56 moves away from the contact 57, thus interrupting the electrical communication between the parts 57 and 58. As the web moves either up or down, the corresponding end. laying of the slot in the canvas 13 hits the finger 52 which it forces to turn, for example as shown in dotted lines in FIG. 3; in this way, the cam 55 brings the switch piece 56 into contact with the contact 57.
Cam 55 will hold resilient switch piece 56 in contact with contact 57 until another of the slits in sheet 13 meets slit 60, allowing finger 52 to return to the position shown in. solid lines in fig. 3 under the action of res sort 54.
On the ftg. 5, the armature. of the motor -14 is shown at 60 and its inductor at 61. Current from a suitable source is supplied to the motor through leads 62 and 63. 64 shows a hand operated switch which is normally held open and is only closed when you act on it. At 65 there is a switch arranged to establish communication between the contacts 66, 67 and 68 and the contacts 69, 70 and 71, that is to say due in one of its positions, the switch 65 connects the contact. 67 with contact 68 and contact 70 with contact 69, as shown in dotted lines; when the switch is turned to another position, it connects contact 67 to contact 66 and contact 70 to contact 71.
The switch 65 occupying the position indicated in dotted lines in FIG. 5, if the switch 64 is closed, the current will flow through the conductor 62, the coil 49 of the electromagnet 48, the switch 64, the armature 60 of the motor, the coil of the electromagnet. magnet 50 to contacts 67 and 68, by inductor 61, from motor to contact 66, thence to contacts 69 and 70 and, by closing hand switch 72, current will flow through conductor 63. In Under these conditions, the motor will be energized as will the electromagnet coils 49 and 50, so that the rusting worm teeth 42 and 45 will be released and the motor will wind the canvas 13 onto a roll and unwind it from there. 'other.
As soon as the web 13 has moved very slightly, the end of the slit in the web rotates the finger 52 and closes the switch piece 56 on the contact 57, thus directly establishing communicating between parts 57 and 58, so that the button switch 54 can then be released with the motor continuing to be energized; but the latter will automatically cease to be excited as soon as another slot in the web 13 comes to appear in front of the finger 52 allowing the spring 54 to actuate the finger 52 and causing the circuit to open at 57. Usually, the motor will thus cease to be excited when another poster of the canvas 13 has reached its display position.
At the same time that the motor ceases to be energized automatically thanks to the finger 52 and the elastic switch piece 56, the electromagnet coils 49 and 50 will also cease to be energized and the spring 51 will force the balance 40 to engage the teeth 42 and 45 with the teeth of the wheels 38 and 39, thus constrainedly preventing the rollers 9 and 10 from turning more, although the motor, thanks to the inertia of its rotating parts , can continue to rotate the corresponding drive chain wheel, 23 or 30, which slides against the friction parts with which it is in contact, these friction parts acting as the brake of the engine.
Thus, by causing the rollers 9 and 10 to be driven by the motor, by means of friction connections, said rollers can be immediately stopped by the application of the locking members 42 and 43 without causing damage to the motor. engine and gears due to the inertia of the latter. If we want to move the canvas in the opposite direction, we turn the switch 65 so as to connect the contact 67 with the contact 66 and the contact 70 with the contact 71; the current is thus returned to the inductor 61 of the motor and the latter turns in the opposite direction to the previous one, when the switch 64 is closed.
Assuming the motor has been arranged to drive roller 10, the counter-rotating motor shaft 16 disengages clutch collar 18 from chain wheel 20 and engages clutch collar 19 with wheel. chain 21 so that the motor rotates the roller 9 through its friction connection.
Figs. 6 and 7 show a variant of the device for stopping the rotation of the rollers 9 and 10. In this variant, the electromagnet 48 is replaced by the following device: the motor shaft is extended at 70 and carries a centrifugal regulator at balls 71, the head of which is rigidly fixed at 72 to the shaft 70, while its socket 73, provided with a groove,
is connected to a lever 74 oscillating at 75 and to which is articulated a connecting rod 75 @, the upper end of which is articulated to one of the ends of a balance 7h o 'connecting to the shaft 16. </ B> To the balance # 6 is sci connected a rod 77 carrying at its upper end a tooth 78 sliding in a guide 7 9 and adapted to engage with the teeth of a toothed wheel 80 fixed on the shaft 11, which carries the roller 9.
To the ba lance 76 is also connected a rod 81 carrying at its lower end a tooth 82 sliding in a guide 83 and adapted to come into engagement with the teeth of a toothed wheel 84 fixed to the shaft 12 which drives the roller 10. When the motor is energized, it quickly reaches a speed at which the ball regulator 71 pulls the groove socket 73 upwards, as shown in FIG. 7, along shaft 70; this upward movement of the sleeve 73 causes the lever 74 to oscillate and with the latter the balance 76, which, by means of the rods 77, 81, releases the teeth 78, 82 from the wheels 80, 84.
Under these conditions, the stop members which normally lock the rollers 9 and 10 against any rotational movement, are biased so as to allow the rollers to rotate quickly after the motor has been energized. When the motor 14 ceases to be energized, the deflection of the ball regulator 71 reverses the balancer 74 and a very slight movement of the latter engages the teeth 78, 82 with the toothed wheels 80, 84, thus preventing any subsequent movement of the rollers 9 and 10, although, as explained above, the motor, due to its inertia, can continue to rotate so as to gradually come to a standstill due to the sliding of its links friction.
In this variant, the motor has sufficient force to start overcoming the resistance of the friction connections. While this variant will suffice for certain categories of work, it does not give the same precision as the first device for stopping the fabric at defined points.
