Les calottes pour chapeaux de dames sont généralement garnies intérieurement d'une bande de tissu appelée coiffe destinée à. éviter le contact direct. entre la tête et cette calotte.
Jusqu'à présent la pose d'une coiffe consis tait à ajuster et coudre à l'envers, à l'aide de petits points très régulièrement exécutés, le bord inférieur de cette coiffe sur tout le pourtour de la calotte et constituait une opéra tion longue et délicate seulement réservée aux modistes.
D'autre part, la coiffe ainsi fixée se prê tait mal à un enlèvement en vue d'urr rempla cement ou d'un nettoyage.
La demanderesse avait déjà proposé une coiffe dont le bord inférieur était formé par une coulisse munie intérieurement d'un léger renfort, de préférence élastique, dont les extrémités se croisaient plus ou moins à l'in térieur de la coulisse par quelques points de couture seulement; mais ce moyen présentait encore l'inconvénient de nécessiter la couture à l'envers et de provoquer la déchirure des bouts de la coulisse quand on y introduisait et déplaçait les extrémités libres du renfort pour l'ajustement.
C'est pour remédier à tous les inconvé nients précédemment énumérés que la deman deresse a imaginé la nouvelle coiffe, objet de la présente invention, caractérisée en ce que son bord inférieur est constitué par une gaine fermée à ses deux bouts et munie du côté de l'endroit d'un petit ruban ou d'une sou tache formant rabat. Cette gaine peut con tenir un renfort.
Cette disposition permet d'ajuster instan tanément le bord inférieur de la coiffe sur le pourtour de la calotte en croisant plus ou moins l'une sur l'autre ses extrémités, sans crainte de déchirure et ensuite de le fixer seulement au moyen de quelques points de couture hâtivement et irrégulièrement faits à l'endroit (et pouvant par suite être facile ment détruits), dont la dissimulation est assu rée par le rabat qui ccnstitue en outre une garniture ou ornement. Le dispositif de coiffe décrit ci-dessus peut être modifié comme suit: on forme la cache précédemment constituée par le ruban ou la<B>,</B> soutache, par un rabattement du bord de l'étoffe doublée par un premier plis.
La description qui va suivre en regard du dessin annexé, donné à titre d'exemple, fera bien comprendre les particularités et avantages de cette invention.

La nouvelle coiffe est constituée par une bande de tissu souple a, dont le bord supé rieur est à la façon habituelle, soit préfé- rablement froncé, soit comme sur le dessin, muni d'une fermeture à coulisse b et dont le bord inférieur est établi de manière à former une gaine d fermée à ses deux extrémités c cl et destinée à servir de logement à un léger renfort e, de préférence élastique, par exemple en baleine, celluloid, acier, laiton etc.
A la partie inférieure de la gaine d et du côté de l'endroit est cousu, par son bord inférieur seulement, en f, un ruban, soutache ou galon g de faible largeur qui reste nor malement appliqué sur la coiffe, comme in diqué en traits pleins fig. 2, mais peut être abaissé, comme indiqué en traits mixtes, son bord supérieur étant absolument libre.
La pose d'une pareille coiffe s'opère de la façon suivante: On l'ajuste d'abord instantanément; pour ainsi dire, en croisant plus ou moins l'une sur l'autre les extrémités c c' de 1a gaine renforcée, puis ensuite, après avoir abaissé le rabat ,g, on fixe rapidement cette gaine, qui grâce au renfort, s'applique bien sur le pourtour de .la calotte au moyen de quelques points de couture seulement qui sont rapide ment faits à l'endroit. Enfin, on relève le rabat qui a le double avantage de dissimuler les imperfections de la couture et d'orner le bord de la coiffe. Ce rabat pourra ensuite, si on le juge à propos, et bien que cela ne soit pas indispensable, être cousu en deux ou trois points de son bord libr Comme on le voit, le démontage de la coiffe est aussi grandement simplifié.
Dans la variante représentée fig. 4 et 5. la coiffe est établie comme précédemment. avec ou sans renfort, la partie inférieure de la coiffe a est repliée une première fois pour doubler cette partie de la coiffe, puis rabattue vers l'endroit et piquée en b1 le long du bord immédiat de la coiffe pour fixer la par tie rabattue.
On obtient ainsi du côté de l'endroit un rabat dl analogue à celui constitué par le ruban ou la soutache rapporté.
La pose d'une pareille coiffe est analogue à celle de la coiffe décrite ci-dessus: On peut encore, dans ce système de coiffe, substituer au galon, ruban ou sou tache rapporté, un bouillonné ou ruché égale ment rapporté et d'un effet plus gracieux, toujours pour dissimuler les points nécessaires au montage de la coiffe.

On the other hand, the cap thus fixed did not lend itself well to removal with a view to replacement or cleaning.
The Applicant had already proposed a cover, the lower edge of which was formed by a slide provided internally with a slight reinforcement, preferably elastic, the ends of which crossed more or less inside the slide by only a few stitches. ; but this method still had the disadvantage of requiring the reverse seam and of causing the ends of the slide to be torn when the free ends of the reinforcement were introduced and moved therein for adjustment.
It is to remedy all the previously enumerated drawbacks that the applicant has devised the new cap, object of the present invention, characterized in that its lower edge is constituted by a sheath closed at both ends and provided with the side of the place of a small ribbon or a stain forming a flap. This sheath can contain a reinforcement.
This arrangement makes it possible to instantly adjust the lower edge of the cap around the perimeter of the cap by crossing its ends more or less one over the other, without fear of tearing and then to fix it only by means of a few points. the seam hastily and irregularly made right side up (and can therefore be easily destroyed), the concealment of which is ensured by the flap which furthermore constitutes a trim or ornament. The cap device described above can be modified as follows: the mask previously formed by the ribbon or the <B>, </B> soutache is formed by folding down the edge of the fabric doubled by a first ply.
The description which will follow with regard to the appended drawing, given by way of example, will make the peculiarities and advantages of this invention clearly understood.

The new cover consists of a strip of flexible fabric a, the upper edge of which is in the usual way, either preferably gathered, or as in the drawing, provided with a sliding closure b and of which the lower edge is established so as to form a sheath d closed at its two ends c cl and intended to serve as a housing for a light reinforcement e, preferably elastic, for example made of rib, celluloid, steel, brass etc.
At the lower part of the sheath d and from the right side is sewn, by its lower edge only, at f, a ribbon, soutache or braid g of small width which remains normally applied to the cap, as indicated in solid lines fig. 2, but can be lowered, as shown in phantom, its upper edge being absolutely free.
The installation of such a cap takes place as follows: It is firstly adjusted instantly; so to speak, by crossing the ends cc 'of the reinforced sheath more or less one over the other, then, after having lowered the flap, g, this sheath is quickly fixed, which thanks to the reinforcement, is applied well around the perimeter of the cap using only a few stitches which are quickly knitted. Finally, we raise the flap which has the double advantage of concealing the imperfections of the seam and adorning the edge of the cap. This flap can then, if it is deemed appropriate, and although this is not essential, be sewn in two or three stitches on its free edge. As can be seen, the removal of the cover is also greatly simplified.
In the variant shown in fig. 4 and 5. the cap is established as before. with or without reinforcement, the lower part of the cap a is folded up a first time to double this part of the cap, then folded back towards the right side and stitched at b1 along the immediate edge of the cap to fix the folded down part.
This gives the side of the place a flap dl similar to that formed by the tape or the attached soutache.
The installation of such a cap is analogous to that of the cap described above: It is also possible, in this cap system, to substitute for the braid, ribbon or stain reported, a bubbling or ruche also reported and a more graceful effect, always to conceal the points necessary for the assembly of the cap.
