PATENTANSPRÜCHE

PATENT CLAIMS
1. hydrofoil with a pivoted hydrofoil (1), characterized in that the pivot axis (3) of the hydrofoil (1) relative to the central longitudinal plane of the boat and against the water level (2), so inclined in two bearings (4, 5) is that with the pivoting of the wing (1) transversely to the direction of travel (v) about the pivot axis (3) the angle of attack (z) of the wing increases from a minimum value with the wing (1) fully pivoted out with the pivoting of the wing (1 ).
2. hydrofoil according to claim 1, characterized in that a pair of mutually mirror-image hydrofoils (1) is provided whose pivot axes intersect.
3. hydrofoil according to claim 2, characterized in that the hull is designed as a catamaran (6).
Hydrofoils according to the preamble of claim 1 are known. The wings can be swung up from a swiveled position. This reduces the draft when swimming. However, the swiveling device is quite complex. In addition, in conventional boats it can only be operated when the boat is at a standstill or when driving slowly.
Known hydrofoils have oars to make turns. These are usually rotatable, vertical supports on the rear wing. Occasionally, additional moving parts are provided on the bow wing, which improve cornering behavior. These movable elements are prone to failure and complicated.
To replace the hydrofoil, it is usually provided that the angle of attack can be increased, or a flap can be extended, at least on the bow wing. This also requires additional effort and increases the susceptibility to faults.
The object of the invention is to develop a hydrofoil according to the preamble of claim 1 in such a way that the swiveling device fulfills additional functions. This object is achieved with the characterizing features of claim 1.
Because the swivel axis is inclined with respect to the median longitudinal plane and with respect to the water level, swiveling the wing leads to a lateral force during travel. The swivel device can therefore replace an oar.
In the embodiment according to claim 2, it is also possible to adjust the wings in opposite directions. Because of the symmetrical arrangement of the wings, the transverse forces cancel each other out, so that the swiveling device can be used as a replacement aid to increase the angle of attack. The arrangement can be chosen so that the wings can be extended and retracted at full speed.
The embodiment according to claim 3 allows a particularly favorable arrangement of the wings provided in pairs.
An exemplary embodiment of the invention is explained below with reference to the drawing. It shows:
Fig. 1 a-c is a view of the wing from the front, from the side and from above.
2 and 3 each a cross section through a catamaran hydrofoil.
In Fig. 1, the spatial axis of rotation 3 of a wing 1 is shown schematically with their mutually offset bearings 4 and 5. Fig. La shows the wing from the front, Fig. Lb from the side and Fig. 1c from above. It is a trapezoidal wing with four wing segments arranged at an angle to each other. The wing is represented by the chord surfaces of these segments. For the middle wing position, a basic angle of attack a is provided, by which the wing chords are inclined with respect to the direction of travel. Due to the pivoting movement from this position in one or the other direction, transverse to the direction of travel v, the angle of attack a of the wing is continuously increased a + Aa or decreased a - ha and thus the lift of the wing is influenced accordingly.
The angle of attack a thus increases continuously from a minimum value with the wing fully pivoted out as the wing is swung up.
One of the most suitable hull shapes is the catamaran, where such wings can be arranged in pairs with intersecting axes of rotation.
2 and 3, a paired arrangement of the wings on a catamaran hull 6 is shown schematically. The pivot axis 3 is represented by its intersection through a transept plane through the wing.
The position with the designation 7 shows the position of the wings in the normal driving condition with the basic angle of attack z. Position 8 shows the folded position of the wings in the swimming state or during slow travel. The angle of attack in this position is increased with respect to position 7 of the wings with their basic angle of attack a, so that the wings provide lift even at low travel speeds. Position 9 shows one of the possible wing positions during the replacement process with an increased angle of attack a + Aa on both wings.
Position 10 represents one of the possible wing positions, a wing with the increased angle of attack a + ha and others with the reduced angle of attack a - hcc during cornering.
