Abstract

Cpds. of formula (I): (where R = arylalkyl); R1 and R2 are same or different opt. branched 1-4C alkyl)are prepd. by reacting an 1-arylalkylpyrrole with an oxalylhalide and acid-binding agent to give the 1-arylalkyl-2-pyrrylglyoxyhalide which is reacted with NHR1R2 or its acid-addition salt in the presence of acid-binding agent to give a cpd. (II): This is reacted with a metal- or organometal hydride pref. sodium-bis-(2-methoxyethoxy)-aluminiumhydride in inert solvent at room temp. - boiling point of solvent. Cpds. (I) esp. known 1- 1'-(o-chlorobenzyl)-2'-pyrryl -2-di-sec. butylaminoethanol (Virimolo) have analgesic act.
