Trailer with several independent axles, provided with a steering device comprising a drawbar and intended to be hooked to a road vehicle The present invention is reports to an improvement to a multi-axle trailer according to claim and sub-claim 2 of the main patent.
The tille trailer as defined in this claim is characterized in that each wheel of one. axles is mounted on a part of the latter capable of pivoting freely about a vertical axis situated behind the axle & of the wheel axle, these parts being interconnected so that the axes of the wheels which they carry remain parallel, and can be locked in a determined orientation with respect to said steering device, when the trailer is driven in forward gear, and released, when the trailer is driven in reverse .
According to sub-claim 2, the trailer comprises locking members which are normally each held in that of said positions where said parts (the axle are blocked and the device < / B> free steering, and the locking mechanism comprises means capable of being put into action at will to bring and maintain said locking members each in the other of said positions.
Such a trailer is shown in particular in FIGS. 1 to 6 of that patent. In this trailer, the steering device comprises a pivot ring 12 integral with a frame 11 and a drawbar 2. This device can be blocked by a locking device 38 </ B > in a position such that the drawbar is parallel to the axis of the trailer.
In addition, the front axle wheels are each mounted on an axle part consisting of a steerable spindle 7, capable of turning around a pivot 5. 7 rockets can also be locked in a position such that their axes are aligned, by means of two locking members 19 capable of engaging in openings < B> 18. Normally, the members 38 and 19 are each held by a spring (40, 21) in a position such that the steering device is released and the 7 rockets are blocked.
An electro-pneumatic control device makes it possible to actuate pistons (39, 20) which, against the action of springs 40 and 21, bring and maintain the components 38 and 19 in positions such that the steering device is locked while the rockets are released.
In the trailer described in the main patent, the electro-pneumatic control device acts simultaneously on the locking member of the steering device and on those of the 7 rockets. . with the trailer in the forward position, it suffices to put the control device out of action by actuating a switch 42. If it happens that one of the components 19 does not or does not fully engage in the corresponding 18 opening, the 7 rockets would not be blocked in their middle orientation d7unc sufficiently secure and nothing would realize it.
However, it is obviously very important that these rockets are securely blocked, that is to say that the two components 19 are engaged to bottom in the corresponding openings 18, when you want to drive the trailer forward.
The object of the present invention is to remedy to this drawback by creating a trailer in which, when passing from the reverse gear position to that of forward gear, the steering device no. be released only when all locking members. freely steerable axle parts are effectively in the locked position. For this, in the trailer according to the invention, the means for bringing and maintaining the or the locking members of the steering device in the locking position are slaved to the locking members of the freely orientable axle parts, these means being put out of action when all the locking members of said axle parts are in the locked position.
An embodiment of the trailer according to the invention is shown, to by way of example, in the appended drawings of which: FIG. 1 is a diagram of the control device of said trailer, and fig. 2, a sectional view of a part.
The trailer shown in the drawing comprises, like the trailer of in FIG. 1 of the main patent, a front axle provided with two wheels 74 mounted on horizontal knuckles 75 each orientable around a vertical pivot 76, each of said pivots being placed behind the axis of the corresponding 75 rocket and being mounted at one end of a fixed beam 77. The latter is connected by elliptical spells (not shown) to a pivot ring 78 which forms part of the steering device of the trailer. A < / B> each end of this crossbar 77 is fixed a cylinder 79 in which can slide a piston 80 integral with a rod 81,
which forms one of the locking devices for 75 rockets and one end of which is normally engaged in an opening presented by an extension 82 of each 75 rocket, thus blocking these rockets in their mid-orientation. This rod can move upwards against the action of a spring 83, so as to release the rockets, when an electro-pneumatic valve 84 is open, which sends compressed air through a pipe 85 into the cylinders 79 and lifts the pistons 80. This valve can be operated < B> at will by means of a contactor 86 interposed in a circuit 92 supplied by a battery 87. Another cylinder 88,
fixed to the chassis of the trailer, in which the locking member of the steering device of the trailer is housed, can also be supplied with compressed air through a 89 terie pipe when 'a second 90 electro-neural valve is opened.
This compressed air causes said locking member to move towards the outside of the cylinder 88 against the action of a res out, this locking member blocking the pivot ring 78. < / B> The control of the valve 90 is slaved to the rods 81 as follows : A circuit 91, </ B > parallel to the 92 circuit, connects the battery 87 first to two contacts 93 themselves connected in parallel in the circuit 91, then to valve 90 and to a control lamp 94, which is connected in parallel with the valve 90. Each of the contacts 93 is placed (fig. 2) in a box 95 fixed on one of the cylinders < B> 79 and intended to protect this contact from dust.
A control finger 96 of the contact 93, movable vertically in a support 97, carries a stop disc 98, </ B > whose edge activates one of the elements of contact 93, of way to close this contact when the finger 96 is in the upper position. The end; upper part of this finger abuts against a plate 99 fixed to the free end of an arm 100 which extends the rod 8 1. A spring 101 resting against a shoulder of the support 97 keeps the finger 96 constantly in contact with the plate 99, so that the contact 93 is only open when the rod 81 is in the blocking position.
Normally, that is, as long as the trailer is in the forward position, the switch 86 is open. The rods 81 then being in the blocked position, under the action of the springs 83, the two contacts 93 are open and the circuit < B> 91 is also open, so that the 90 valve is closed.
To put the trailer in reverse gear, all you have to do is close the switch 86. The valve 84 opens, which causes the rods to move 81 from the locked position to the unlocked position. Contacts 93 are closed. The 91 circuit being closed, the 90 valve is energized and opens, which causes the locking member of the locking device to be placed in the locking position. robbery. It will be noted that the locking of the steering device would occur even if, as a result of a defect, one of the rods 81 had remained in the locked position.
But then the driver of the truck would notice it immediately, because the rockets 75 and the steering device would be blocked simultaneously, which would make any maneuver impossible of the trailer in reverse.
To switch from reverse gear to forward gear, all you have to do is open the switch 86. The rods 81, solicited by the springs 83, move the down and the plates 99 press the fingers 96 towards the low. When the two rods 81 entered the openings of the extensions 82 and thus blocked the rockets 75 in their median orientation, the contacts < B> 93 opens. If the rockets are oriented in such a way that the openings of the extensions 82 are not coaxial with the rods 81, it suffices to drive the trailer obliquely either forward or rearward.
The rockets 75 then pivot around the pivots 76, so that the rods 81 can reach the locking position as soon as these openings are found exactly under the rods 81. It is only when this maneuver has been carried out that the contacts 93 open. The 91 circuit is then open and the 90 valve closes, which places the steering device in the unlocked position. At the same time, the control lamp 94 goes out, indicating to the driver that the trailer can be driven forward.
By virtue of the control device described, the West steering device released and the trailer can only be driven in forward gear if all the locking members of the rockets are effectively in the locking position. On the other hand, the driver can check that the passage from the reverse gear position to the forward gear position is carried out regularly using to </ B> the indicator light 94.
Finally, as the steering device remains blocked until the rockets are blocked, the driver can very easily straighten the front wheels of his trailer which had been released for reverse gear and which can consequently to be in any position whatever, when he wishes to start again in forward motion.
