In diesem.

A method for feeding the lubricant into a mold with a horizontal axis for the continuous casting of metals and non-metallic materials. It is known, during continuous casting in molds with a vertical axis, by pouring lubricants such as oil onto the liquid casting head sen and to lubricate the cast strand, with additional lubricant pressed between the mold wall and the cast strand if necessary.
This process cannot simply be transferred to continuous casting in: molds with a horizontal axis,
because on the one hand the wall of the mold does not protrude beyond the liquid casting head in this case and on the other hand the weight of the casting material loads the mold wall on one side or at least unevenly. It is also known
during continuous casting, using horizontal molds to bring in lubricant from the end of the, for example, cylindrical mold wall, and to let this lubricant migrate through the mold together with the casting material.
However, this does not lead to satisfactory results if the casting material is not introduced into the mold from! The end face of the mold, but through an approach introduced into the mold from above in front of the end of the mold,
because then the flow of lubricant is interrupted from the front of the mold at the point of introduction of the casting material into the casting head and so the parts of the mold wall located behind this supply point in the direction of movement of the casting material are not supplied with lubricant.
The invention aims by a special method for feeding the lubricant into a mold which is movable relative to the cast strand and possibly also to the casting frame and has a horizontally lying axis for the continuous casting of metals, preferably steel, and non-metallic materials,
the liquefied to their deformation or put in at least a plastic state who the, z. B. of plastic to eliminate the aforementioned disadvantages.
The method makes it possible to cast cast strands with a horizontal axis in capsules with a good surface, while at the same time reducing the force required to move the cast strand in the mold.
According to the invention, lubricant is introduced under pressure into the gap between the mold wall and the casting material below the casting material.
As a result, a pad of lubricant is formed below this casting material on the mold wall, which, similar to the lubricant pad in the sliding bearing of rotating shafts, carries the casting material.
The pressure with which the lubricant is supplied can be adapted to the strength of the solidified crust of the casting material on the stalk in question. The pressure of the lubricant must not be so great that the lubricant penetrates the casting material.
Conveniently, lubricant is introduced between the cast material and the mold in at least one cross section, preferably several successive cross sections of the mold,
so that the liquid pouring head and the part of the strand located in the mold are separated from the mold wall by a layer of lubricant that is as closed as possible.
In order to introduce the sliding material into the gap between the mold wall and the casting material, a gap arranged transversely to the longitudinal direction of the mold can be provided in the mold wall. It can be proceeded in such a way that the lubricant is both 'below the cast material and above the cast material,
and that is introduced below the casting material with greater pressure than above the casting material. To put the lubricant on. to be able to supply different places on the mold circumference with different pressures,
it is advisable to attach seals in the longitudinal direction of the mold in the gap arranged transversely to the longitudinal direction of the mold. These seals can also be replaced by throttling points.
The lubricant can be introduced into the gap between the cast strand and the mold wall, for example, through bores running obliquely to the mold axis, preferably widening towards the mold wall, or through porous parts of the mold wall.
You can also proceed in such a way that such an amount of lubricant is introduced into the mold below the casting material that it evaporates on the way around the casting material to the top or, for example, is consumed by absorption. A lubricant that is consumed by absorption is, for example, vegetable oil, e.g. B. rapeseed or sunflower oil.
The absorption takes place: by the fact that the lubricant combines with oxide vapors of the casting material.
Furthermore, enough liquid lubricant can be fed in underneath the casting material that it is pushed upwards in the gap between the casting material and the mold. This can be taken from above the cast material wi @ edar.
The removed lubricant can be excited and cooled and then fed back underneath the casting material by a pump. In the case of such a circuit, lubricant and coolant can be identical. In this. In this case, water or water vapor can also form the cushion carrying the casting material.
Materials that do not wet the casting material and the mold wall are particularly suitable as Gleitmit tel.
A material that melts at the casting temperature can also be used as a lubricant, for example a metal that melts at a lower temperature than the casting material or a non-metallic material, in particular one that does not alloy with the casting material.
A suitably selected lubricant will form a solid protective layer on the still liquid or already solidified cast strand, which facilitates the gliding of the strand and keeps the strand in the coke and: if necessary also during further processing, e.g. B. protects against oxidation.
The necessary pressure of the lubricant can be generated by suitable pumps. In the case of lubricants with a sufficiently low viscosity, the required pressure can also be generated statically and for this purpose, for example, the under half of the casting material in the gap between the mold
The wall and casting material opening into channels attached to the mold wall can be connected to a vessel which is filled with lubricant to such a level that the liquid pressure below the casting material is of the desired size.
The channels opening into the gap between the mold wall and the casting material above the casting material are then connected to a second vessel which is only filled with lubricant up to a lower height.
It is particularly expedient to use a liquid lubricant whose specific weight is approximately equal to or greater than the specific weight of the casting material.
As an example of lubricants with a higher specific weight than the casting material, lead or lead-tin alloys are mentioned for casting steel. The lubricants can be provided by preferably several at least, des.t approximately in the same cross section of the mold and preferably evenly distributed in this,
Preferably, channels emanating from an annular channel in the mold wall are introduced into the gap between the mold wall and the casting material, these channels being filled with lubricant, if necessary, with a pouring funnel, for example up to the level of the casting material mirror in the pouring funnel from which the casting material flows into the mold are connected to the heated vessel.
The figures show an embodiment of a continuous casting mold with a horizontally lying axis, which is suitable for carrying out the method on which the invention is based.
1 shows a vertical section through the longitudinal axis of a continuous casting mold with the axis lying horizontally, and FIG. 2 shows a cross section through the continuous casting mold shown in FIG. 1 in the section plane II-II in FIG. 1.
The pouring funnel of a continuous casting plant is denoted by 1, which is surrounded by a jacket 2, so that a heating chamber 3 is formed between the jacket 2 and the pouring funnel 1, into which heating gases are blown through the opening 4 and from which they pass the opening 5 escape. The hot mold 6, onto which the funnel 1 is placed, is arranged below the funnel 1. The water-cooled cold mold 7 adjoins the hot mold 6.
The cold mold 7 is surrounded by a cooling jacket 8 in which guide plates 9 are arranged in such a way that cooling water entering at 10 is guided past the mold wall through the narrow gap 11 and exits again through the stub 12.
The end face of the hot mold 6 is beveled at the periphery, so that an annular space is created between: the hot mold 6 and the cold mold 7 pushed over it, which is divided into two channels 13 and 13 'by two approximately radially arranged seals 33 becomes.
The channel 13 is supplied with lubricant through a connection nipple 14 and lubricant is supplied to the channel 13 'through a connection nipple 14' which has a lower pressure than the lubricant supplied through the connection nipple 14. The lubricant emerges from channel 13 through inclined bores 16 and channels 15 arranged offset to these into the mold.
Wedge-shaped recesses 34 are provided at the mouths of the channels 15 in the mold. From the channel 13 'the lubricant passes through bores 16' and channels 15 'into the mold, wedge-shaped recesses 34 being provided at the mouths of some of the channels 15'. On the underside of the mold, further lubricant feed channels 17 and 18 are provided.
Arranged in front of the end of the cold mold 7 is a ring 19 in which an annular space 20 is cut out and in which two seals are arranged in such a way that
that lubricant can be pressed into the lower part of the annular space 20 through a connection nipple 21 and lubricant can be fed into the upper part of the annular space 20 through a connection nipple 21 '. From the lower part of the annular space 20, the lubricant passes through bores 22 and from the upper part of the annular space 20 through bores 22 'into the mold.
The components 1 to 21 are arranged together on a slide 23a. The carriage 23a is arranged on a bed 23b by a driven crank drive 24 displaceably. The support 25 is firmly connected to the bed 23b and carries an end wall plug 26, which closes the barrel in the longitudinal direction.
A recess 27 is arranged on the front part of the circumference of the end wall plug 26, which together with the inner wall of the chunk 6 results in an annular channel 27. The annular channel 27 is supplied with lubricant from a vessel (not shown) through bores 28 via a supply line 29,
which is filled to above the level of the casting material in the pouring funnel 1 with a liquid lubricant, the specific weight of which is slightly higher than that of the casting material. The sealing rings 30 seal the hot mold 6 with respect to the front wall plug 26.
In front of the mold, there are sprinklers 31 which spray the strand emerging from the mold with water. Transport rollers 32 are also provided there, which move the solidified strand out of the mold 6, 7 at a uniform speed.
The metal poured into the inlet funnel 1 flows from this into the hot mold 6 and begins to solidify here and in the adjoining cold mold 7. In. the direct cooling zone created by the showers 31 is followed by further solidification,
so d'ass the transport rollers 32 can exert the pressure required for transport on the largely cooled strand.
