Headstock of a machine tool, in particular of an automatic lathe The present invention relates to a headstock of a machine tool, in particular of an automatic lathe, comprising a spindle twisted in a bezel integral with the body of the machine. doll, as well as a drive device for this spindle, characterized in that said device comprises a transmission member wedged on a shaft section co-axial to the spindle and journaled in a bearing carried by a body fixed in such a way removable at said bezel,
this shaft section driving the spindle by means of a coupling arranged so that said shaft section is separated without further from the spindle when said body carrying the bearing of the shaft section is separated from said bezel.
The drawing represents, by way of example, only the parts necessary for the understanding of the invention of one embodiment of the object thereof.
The only figure shows part of a headstock of an automatic lathe in longitudinal section. The index 1 designates the body of the doll, 2 a spindle, 3 and 4 two ball bearings by means of which the spindle 2 is rotated in a telescope secured to the doll body 1; 5 denotes a ring screwed into the body 1, 6 a ring carried by the spindle 2 and against which axially abuts the inner ring of the bearing 3, 6a a ring interposed between the inner rings of the bearings 3 and 4, and 7 a nut screwed onto the rear end of the spindle and fixedly retaining said inner rings in place on this spindle.
The device which serves to drive the spindle 2 in rotation comprises a transmission member which in this case consists of a pulley 8. The latter is wedged on a shaft section 9 by means of a key 10. and a nut 11. The shaft section 9, coaxial with the spindle 2, is journaled independently of the latter, in a bearing comprising the two ball bearings 12, 13 and the bearing body 14. The latter is removably attached to the bezel 1a by screws 15. The shaft section 9 drives the spindle 2 via a claw coupling 16. A part of this coupling is formed on the nut 7, and a another on the shaft section 9.
The index 17 denotes a belt passing around the bell-shaped pulley 8, which surrounds the bearing body 14 extending axially almost over the entire length of this bearing body. The flange-shaped part of the bearing body 14 has bayonet entries (not shown in the drawing) in which the screws 15 are engaged, so that the drive device can be removed as a whole very simply, afterwards. loosening the screws 15, by first angular and then axial displacement of the body 14. After removing this device, it is easy to remove the bearings 3 and 4. This is one of the main advantages. of the described doll.
Another advantage of this doll lies in the fact that the spindle 2 is not subjected to the radial thrust exerted by the belt 17. These advantages could be retained in variants where the drive member would consist for example of a cogwheel. Finally, instead of being used for an automatic lathe, the doll described could also be used on a machine tool in general.
