Gas burner. Gas burners generally use a mixture of air and gas; the intensity of the flame depends on the richness of the mixture.
The present invention relates to a gas burner comprising no air supply and allowing an increase in the pressure of the gas at the burner.
This burner is characterized in that it comprises a conduit bringing the gas, at the pressure of the supply conduit, into an annular chamber formed between it and a sleeve engaged concentrically on this conduit and hermetically screwed onto it, the bottom of this sleeve being pierced with a through hole in a cup-shaped depression provided in the external face of said base, said duct being provided with a needle more or less sealing this hole according to the screwing of the socket on the duct.
In a preferred embodiment, said burner consists of a cylindrical pipe, connected at one end to the gas supply pipe and provided, at its opposite end, with a removable ejector, and a sleeve concentric with said duct which is screwed onto a thread provided at the base of the duct; the bottom of this socket is pierced with a calibrated hole which is more or less closed by a needle provided at the top of the ejector; this hole opens out into a cup-shaped pressure die formed in the external face of said bottom.
The gas which escapes from the ejector fills the free space between the pipe and the socket and bursts out through the calibrated hole, at a pressure greater than that of the gas in the supply pipe, the exhaust speed and pressure depend on the opening of the passage between the needle of the ejector and the calibrated hole, therefore on the screwing of the sleeve on the duct. This screwing is adjustable and a locking nut keeps the -douille in the desired position.
Depending on the destination of the burner, the entire conduit and socket can be mounted on a -base, a fitting, a. elbow tube, etc. This burner can be used as a blowtorch as well as a soldering iron, solder, can be transformed into several types of burners, either for cooker, baker's oven, pastry, for any boilers, etc. It is suitable, even with lean gas, for the most difficult welds, for example silver welding; the volume of the burner can be built according to the desired use, several burners can be united in a block according to the use.
The mixture of air and gas takes place at the very birth of the flame, by a call for air resulting from the depression created in the bowl of the socket by the pressurized exhaust of the gas through the through hole in the middle. of this bowl. This must therefore be calculated with the greatest care according to the destination of the burner, the gas used and the desired flame.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the burner forming the subject of the invention, constituted by a hand burner for welding.
Fig. 1 is an elevational view thereof, FIG. 2 is a vertical section thereof, FIG. 3 a corresponding plan view and fig. 4 is a larger-scale section of the burner nozzle.
The burner shown. consists of a cylindrical duct 1, one end of which has a thread 12, for screwing it into an internal thread .3 of a support 4, and the other end of which 5 is provided with an ejector 6 in the form of a drilled cap laterally large windows 7 for gas exhaust, this cap. being surmounted by an ap proximately conical needle 8.
A sleeve 9 of a diameter slightly greater than that of the conduit is concentrically threaded on this duct 1, so as to form an annular chamber 10 between the sleeve 9 and the duct 1, this sleeve being provided at its base with an internal thread. 11 which allows it to be screwed onto the threaded part 12 of the duct 1. The bottom 13 of this sleeve is drilled in its center with a calibrated hole 14 which opens into the external face in the middle approximately of a depression 15 in roughly tapered cu vette shape. The walls 16 of the bottom of the sleeve are preferably frustoconical to promote the escape of the gas contained in the chamber 10 ,.
The support 4 is a metal block inside which is formed an elbow duct 17, one end 3 of which is threaded to receive the duct 1 and the other end 18 of which is also threaded to receive a fitting 19 of the duct. gas supply. A thread 20, provided in a hole of this support, allows the. fixing by screwing a handle 21.
A lock nut 22, engaged on the threaded part 12, makes it possible to block the sleeve 9 in a determined position on the conduit 1, corresponding to the desired flow of gas through the hole 14. By modifying the hermetic screwing of the sleeve 9 on the conduit 1, the needle 8 is moved in said hole 14 and consequently modifies the speed and the exhaust pressure of the gas accumulated in the chamber 10. The arrows in solid lines indicate the circulation of the gas; in fig. 4, the arrows in phantom lines show the calling and mixing of air with gas.
