Coupling for coupling trailer vehicles to vehicles. The present invention relates to a coupling for coupling trailers to vehicles, in which the power is transmitted through a ball head enclosed between two ball sockets. The invention consists in that two ball sockets, between which the ball head engages, are arranged in a holder. One of which is firmly connected to the holder, while the other ball socket in the holder is slidable in its axial direction by means of articulated levers, in such a way that it is secured in its closed position when articulated levers are moved beyond their dead center position into their resting position. Such couplings are suitable for coupling trailers to bicycles and light trailers to passenger and delivery vehicles.
In the accompanying drawing, two exemplary embodiments are illustrated, it shows: Fig. 1 shows a coupling in which the tensile force for pulling the trailer is taken up by the movable ball socket, Fig. 2 shows a coupling in which the tensile force for pulling the trailer through the immovable ball socket is added in the holder.
The tube 1 is the connector that connects the trailer with the towing vehicle. A tube 2 with a larger diameter is attached to the tube 1. Both tubes together form the Halt-r. In the sem pipe 2, the two ball sockets 3 and 4 are mounted. The ball socket 3 is firmly connected to the tube 2, for example by a rivet 5. The ball socket 4 is displaceable in the axial direction of the tube 1. The bracket 6 leads through the pan 4 and is guided in the slots 7 of the tube 2. The bracket 6 engages with its loose ends 8 in eyelets 9 of the bracket 10, which is pivotably ge superimposed in holes 11 of the tube 2. The two brackets respectively. Joint levers 6 and 10 together form a toggle lock.
The ball 13 sits on the holder piece 12; the holder piece 12 is, for example, clamped to the fork of a bicycle under half of the saddle with the two plates 14 and the nut 15. The toggle lock is connected to the movable ball socket 4 in such a way that the ball 13 is clamped between the two ball sockets 3 and 4 in the dead center position of the bracket 6 and 10. By moving the bracket downwards beyond its dead center position, the jamming is loosened again, so that the ball 13 between the ball sockets 3 and 4 can easily rotate.
The movement of the bracket below its dead center position is limited by the fact that bracket 1! J rests on tube 1. This arrangement prevents the toggle lock from opening itself because the pull required to pull the trailer wagon pushes the bracket continuously below its dead center position. This embodiment form of the coupling is particularly suitable for lightweight trailer vehicles, such as bicycle trailers.
For heavier trailer vehicles that are connected to passenger cars and delivery vans, the coupling is expediently carried out according to FIG. respectively with the holder firmly connected ball socket 3 'added. The displaceable ball socket 4 'is in the same way as in the embodiment 1 against the ball 13' of the holder piece 1? ' moved, only that the bracket 6 'and 10' forming the toggle lock are subjected to compression instead of tension. Examples 1 and 2 show an embodiment in which the ball head is to be attached to the towing vehicle.
The ball head can of course also be attached to the end of the connection piece of the trailer, and the holder with the ball sockets can be attached to the pulling vehicle.
