Rocker arm control on combustion engines with two intake and two exhaust valves per cylinder. In internal combustion engines with two inlet and two outlet valves per cylinder, rocker arm controls have become known that have a rather complicated design with four rocker arms, Abwä.rtsrolle and Ab- Wälzbahn on these levers, also large bearing supports and two bearing shafts for these levers.
The two inlet and Exhaust valves each arranged in a transverse plane perpendicular to the control shaft.
According to the invention, a much simpler type of rocker arm control is made possible by the fact that the two inlet and the two outlet valves are each arranged in an at least approximately parallel to the control shaft extending plane, and that the two inlet and the two outlet valves are each directly are controlled by a pair of rigidly connected tilting lifts which have at least approximately coincident axes of rotation.
In the drawing, an embodiment of the subject matter of the invention and detailed variants are shown, namely: FIG. 1 shows an internal combustion engine cylinder with the rocker arm control in section, FIG. 2 the rocker arm control in plan, partially in section, FIG. 3 the bearing pin for the toggle lever in side view,
partially in section, FIG. 4 shows a modification of the fastening of this bearing journal, FIG. 5 shows a further modification.
The piston works in cylinder 1 of the internal combustion engine according to FIG. 2 by means of connecting rod 3 on the belwelle not -drawn cure. The control shaft 4 is driven from the crankshaft in a manner not shown. The control shaft 4 actuates the inlet valves 10, 11 and the outlet valves 12, 13 of the cylinder via the tappets 5, the push rods 6, 7 and the rocker arms 8, 17, 15 and 9, 20, 21.
The rocker arm 8, 15, which actuates the inlet valve 11, is rotatably mounted on the axis 14 parallel to the control shaft 4. Its hollow hub 16 has an extension which carries the one-armed rocker arm 17 firmly wedged and clamped by screw 18. This lever 17 is used to actuate the inlet valve 10. The levers 15 and 17 represent the rocker arm pair that actuates the inlet valves of a cylinder. The rocker arm 9 is rotatably mounted on the hub 16 with its hollow hub 19.
The two rocker arms 20 and 21, which form the rocker arm pair that actuates the two exhaust valves 12 and 13 of a cylinder, are fastened to the hub 19. The rocker arms of each pair are rigidly connected to one another. The two inlet valves and the two outlet valves are each located in a vertical plane running parallel to the control shaft 4, so that the inlet and respectively. the exhaust valves each keep the same stroke.
By adjusting rings 26, the hub 16 is secured against axial displacement on the bearing pin 14 forming the common axis of rotation for the two rocker arm pairs 15, 17, 20, 21. The rocker arm pairs therefore have coincident axes of rotation. The axes of rotation can also be provided only approximately to coincide. The toggle pairs control the valves directly. As usual, closing springs 22 are provided for all four valves.
The bearing pin 14, which is inserted through the hub 16, has at its ends Lap pen 23, with which it is supported on the cylinder cover. Special bases 24 are provided for this support. But it could screw already existing cover 25, as shown in FIG. 4, or store through anchor bolts ver from the cylinder cover to the crankcase.
In order not to allow the stroke of the valves to deviate from the stroke of the tappets 5, the push rods 7 acting on the shorter rocker arms 8, 15, 17 are arranged inclined inwards, while the push rods 6, which are positioned on the larger rocker arms 9, 20, 21 act, are arranged approximately vertically.
The storage of the rocker arms can also be combined in other ways without falling outside the scope of the invention if only their axes of rotation coincide at least approximately. For example, the bore of the hub 16 according to FIG. 5 can be arranged eccentrically to the bore of the hub 19 of the lever 9 by the amount e; since the point 28 at which the bumper 6 engages, can be moved closer to the axis 14 through.
Furthermore, for example, the pin 14 together with the rocker arms 8, 15, 17 can be made from a single piece and this pin can be mounted in two bearings on the cover of the cylinder, or a forked lever forming a rocker arm pair can be used to operate the valves 10 , 11 may be provided, while the levers 17 and 15 are lengthened and are used to actuate the valves 12, 13.
The lever 17 can be manufactured in one piece with the hub 16 if the hub 19 is provided with an axial parting line for this purpose, that is to say is made in two parts.
The arrangement according to the drawing, in which the further away from the axis of rotation 14 th valves 12, 13 by a forked, the one rocker arm pair forming, the closer 10, 11 by a put together, the other rocker arm pair forming rocker arm 15, 17 are operated , seems particularly easy. It is particularly noteworthy that after removing the nuts 27, the entire control lever unit can be assembled as a unit or removed or mounted on it.
The control shaft 4 of course does not need to be arranged parallel to the crankshaft, as is the case with the arrangement is provided; it can also be arranged transversely to the same.
In a departure from the drawing, the valves and the axis 14 can be arranged in planes which are only approximately parallel to the control shaft 4.
