Waterproof watch box. The present invention relates to a waterproof watch case comprising a crystal of slightly compressible transparent material, characterized in that the edge of the crystal is pressed between a beat of the bezel and a frame fitted therein and maintained under permanent pressure. by at least one spring exerting a uniform pressure on the frame in the direction of the glass.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, one embodiment of the box forming the subject of the invention.
In this drawing: the fi-. 1 is a longitudinal section, and FIG. 2 @ a horizontal section along line II-II of FIG. 1.
The box shown is a rectangular box comprising a middle-bezel 5 and a crystal 6 made of transparent material which is slightly compressible, for example of a material known under the trade designation of "Plexiglas". The crystal has a horizontal edge 6 'which rests from the inside of the case on the beat 7 of the bezel. A frame 8, of the same shape as the bezel-middle part and fitting exactly in it, is pressed from the bottom against the edge 6 'of the crystal.
To obtain a better seal. this operation can be carried out hot, for example at a temperature sufficient to soften the edge of the ice very slightly.
In the example shown, it. There is moreover, between the edge 6 'and the upper end of the frame, a ring of gasket 9 made of material similar to that of ice but more compress.ible and more plastic. To ensure .durable maintenance of the seal thus achieved,
The frame 8 is permanently resiliently held by a spring exerting on it a uniform pressure in the direction of the bezel. This spring is here constituted by a ring 10 split into. 10 'and housed partly in a small peripheral groove II of the frame 8, partly in a corresponding groove 12 of the caseband.
So that the action of this spring is exerted towards the bezel, the lower wall 12 'of the groove 12 on which it rests is inclined as shown in FIG. 1.
It is understood that any other shape and any other desired spring arrangement can be provided, provided that its pressure is uniform all along the frame and is exerted in the direction of the bezel. One can, for example, provide one or more springs resting on the bottom of the case or springs housed in the angles between the frame and the middle part.
It is also understood that the invention does not apply exclusively to a rectangular or even shaped watch, but also to a round watch.
