Waterproof watch case and process for its manufacture. The present invention relates to a waterproof watch case and to a method for its manufacture.
The waterproof watch case is of the type comprising two concentric parts including a tarnure. It is characterized by a layer of impermeable substance interposed between these parts, adhering to each of them, and the lower edge of which is joined to the bottom.
The manufacturing process is characterized in that we have, at the entrance: the space between the two parts, a ring of the impermeable substance, and above this base a punch, heats the whole and, by means of the punch, pushes the substance into said space.
The attached drawing relates to two embodiments of the sealed box according to the invention, given by way of example. Figs. 1 and 2 represent -each an axial section of one of these embodiments.
Figs. 3 and 4 illustrate an example of implementation of the method in the case of the first, respectively of the second embodiment.
The watch case, shown in fig. 1, comprises, on the one hand, a round interior assembly 1 formed by a circle 1., and an unbreakable glass crystal 1b hot-molded on the circle 1, and, on the other hand, an exterior caseband 2, of form, bearing the. 3 studs for the handles. 4 is the background.
Between the two squares 1 and 2 is interposed a layer 5 of impermeable substance, for example -of the body known under the trade designation of, plexigum ", which adheres to the two middle pieces, keeping them together,
and which forms joined to its upper part on a flat surface of the crystal 1b and to its lower part on a ridge of the base 4. This ridge is pressed against the impermeable substance by the springs 6 resiliently connecting a tenon 7 carried by the outer caseband with 8 chaxnons carried by the bottom.
This box can be made, as shown in fig. 3: The assembly 1 and the caseband 2 rest, upside down, on a base a matching their external shape. We introduce the ring b in the inner middle part, we place a "plexigum" ring c at the entrance of the space d between the middle part 2 and the circle la,
this ring c being held between the ring b and another ring e resting on the outer caseband. f is a punch. The whole is heated to the desired temperature to soften it. ring c, then the punch f is lowered which presses the. impermeable substance in the space d by making it adhere to the caseband 2, to the circle 1 ;, and to the ice, and one leaves to cool while maintaining, until complete cooling, the pressure of the punch f.
The embodiment of FIG. 2 comprises an inner middle-bezel 9 carrying the crystal 10 and an outer middle part 11, both round. 12 is the back screwing onto the inner caseband. Between the two middle parts is again interposed a layer of an impermeable substance 1.3 which adheres to the two middle parts and which at the same time forms a seal on a surface of the bezel and on the back.
Fig. 4 shows how this box can be made. The inner middle-bezel 9 is placed on the base, then a ring g of the waterproof substance, then the outer middle part 11.
After this, the ring h of impermeable substance, placed as in the previous case, is, under the same conditions, pushed by the punch f into the space between the two cases, where it adheres equally well to the ring g than at the wall of the two cases.
