Fig. 7 ist ein Schaubild eines Formlings mit sich über .die ganze Länge der Schaufel erstreckender, sich nach unten, verjüngender Höhlung; Fig. 8 ist ein Aufriss der entsprechenden Schaufel;
Process for the production of hollow, seamless metal objects of non-circular cross section, in particular turbo blades, and hollow, seamless metal object produced according to this process. The present invention relates to a process for the production of hollow, seamless metal objects of non-circular cross-sectional circumference, in particular turbo blades, and a metal object produced by this process.
In Swiss Patent No. 171445, methods are used to manufacture hollow. seamless turbo blades, of which the following can be considered a typical example.
A steel molding, that is, a preformed steel workpiece used to manufacture the metal object, is first produced in such a way that a part intended for the formation of the blade and a part intended for the formation of the root are formed with a larger lateral extent.
Then a parallel-walled or conical cavity is determined to the desired length in the longitudinal direction of the to form the airfoil. Partly attached, which cavity can in certain cases extend into the part intended for the formation of the foot.
If the part of the molding intended for the formation of the airfoil is of rectangular cross-section, the cavity can have semicircular cross-sectional ends connected by parallel sides, the metal of the cavity being removed by a combined drilling and milling operation can be.
The cavity is then filled with a resistance material, for example a metal with a relatively low melting point, such as copper, which is melted out after rolling out the part of the combined molding intended for the formation of the 'look blue' to determine its elongation and cross-section . Different sand mixes can also be used as filler material.
The process for the production of hollow, seamless metal objects of non-circular cross-sectional circumference, in particular turbo blades, is now characterized in that a metal blank provided with a cavity is filled with a metal of similar ductility as that of the blank and that the blank is then filled with .the so educated is gladly brought into the desired form, whereupon the gladly a corrosive,
the material of the object to be manufactured is not or only slightly subjected to the attacking agent and is thereby removed.
The molding filled with the metal core is expediently subjected to a stretching process.
Such a molding can, if it is made of stainless steel, for example, be completely filled with one made of ordinary, non-stainless steel.
In the drawing are Ausführungsbei games of turbo blades produced according to the inventive method are Darge.
Fig. 1 is a diagrammatic view of a molding with the cavity extending only through the portion thereof intended to form the airfoil; 2 and 3 are an elevation and a cross-section along line 3-3 (FIG. 2) of the hollow blade produced by the application of a stretching method to the part of the molding of FIG. 1 intended to form the airfoil;
Figure 4 is a diagrammatic view of a molding similar to that shown in Figure 1 with the cavity extending the full length of the molding; Figures 5 and 6 are an elevation and a longitudinal section taken along line 6-6 of Figure 5 of the blade made from the molding of Figure 4;
Figure 7 is a schematic diagram of a molding having a downwardly tapered cavity extending the full length of the blade; Fig. 8 is an elevation of the corresponding blade;
9 and 10 are a longitudinal and a cross section along line 10-10 in FIG. 9 of a filled molding for producing a blade without a root, and FIGS. 11 and 12 are an elevation and a cross section along the line 12-12 in FIG. 11 on a smaller scale of a buttless blade made from the molding according to FIG. 9.
The part of the molding intended for the formation of the blade is briefly called "the blade-forming part" in the following, the part intended for the formation of the blade root, the "root-forming part".
In the process type illustrated by FIGS. 1 to 3 and used for the production of turbo blades according to the Parsons reaction type, the molding A, which has a blade-forming part 2 and a root-forming part 3, is produced from stainless steel and is in a suitable state. dium of the process is provided with a parallel-walled cavity 4, which is only due to the:
Airfoil forming part of the molding extends. The cavity can, however, also, as shown in FIGS. 4 to 6, extend through the foot part 3 which forms one piece with the part forming the blade.
The cavity 6 of the molding C can also widen from the foot to the other end, as shown in FIG. 7, so that the resulting blade (FIG. 8) decreases in thickness from the foot to the other end. In turn, as shown in FIGS. 9 and 10, a prismatic, hollow molding D can be produced with a cross-section that is the same throughout and this can be stretched to form a footless, blade-forming strip, as shown in FIG.
A well-fitting mandrel E made of ordinary, non-stainless steel of similar ductile properties as the stainless steel of the molding is then driven into the somehow shaped cavity. After only the blade-forming part of the molding formed in this way has been subjected to a stretching process, for example rolling, as described in the above-mentioned patent, the blade is treated with a solvent, for example nitric acid, which etches away the steel core stainless steel does not attack the blade.
It can be seen that, by forming the molding from two metals with approximately the same properties in terms of ductility, rolling takes place with approximately the same accuracy as when rolling a molding from consistently the same material, and irregularities and abnormalities entirely or at least can be largely eliminated. In addition, when the core is removed, the temperature of the blade is not significantly increased, as is the case when a copper filling is melted off; there is therefore no tendency for the finished blade to warp.
The method according to the invention for the production of hollow, seamless metal objects is applicable not only to the production of turbo blades, but also to those of many other objects of non-circular cross-sectional circumference such as railing posts, aircraft struts, etc., wherein the inner contour may or may be parallel to the outer one Not.
While a stretch including the manufacturing process is preferable for the manufacture of turbo blades, other working methods that do not include stretching, for example pressing between dies, can also be used.
Instead of pressing a solid core into the hollow molding, this filling can also be effected by pouring a molten metal with the properties mentioned above. Optionally, a brass or copper core in a stainless steel blank can be used.
