Process and device for recovering the oil from oil-water emulsions. The oil used to lubricate the calves and stuffing boxes of steam engines is known to form an emulsion with the condensing exhaust steam, so that the oil recovered from the oil separator and drained from the stuffing boxes cannot be used immediately is possible.
The invention relates to a method for recovering the oil from such emulsions and consists in allowing the emulsion to flow onto an inclined surface which is heated to a temperature above the boiling point of the water, where- in the case of the drops of water produced during the foaming of the emulsion flow off more quickly on the inclined surface and thus the effect of the hot surface is withdrawn more quickly than the oil.
The 01 separated out of the emulsion in this way can be treated again in the same way. A device that can be used to carry out this process has an inclined, heatable plate and a settling tank arranged on the lower part of the plate for collecting the oil and water resulting from the emulsion. Ribs can be provided on the plate be provided, wel che: direct the oil emulsion to both sides of the plate and alternate with such ribs, which lead the oil emulsion back to the center of the plate.
The ribs can be fixed or loosely arranged. The ribs are advantageously provided with one or more passage openings for the 01 and the water droplets.
In the drawing, two execution examples are provided for the suitable device according to the invention for oil recovery.
Fig. 1 shows an elevation of the device; FIG. 2 is a top view of the heatable plate of the device according to FIG. 1; FIG. 3 shows the top view of another embodiment of this plate; Fic. 4 to 8 show cross sections through various embodiments of the ribs which are arranged on the heatable plate; Fig. 9 is a front view of a rib according to Figs. 4 to 8
10 is a hollow plate which is carried by the framework 11 and is connected to a steam line. The heating of the plate 10 can also take place in another way. The steam supply line is connected at 12 and the steam outlet at 13 . A storage container 14 is arranged above the very vertical plate, from which the oil emulsion flows onto the upper end of the plate. This plate is provided with numerous ribs läa and läb.
In the embodiment of the plate shown in FIG. 2, these ribs are firmly connected to the plate. The ribs 15a divert the olemulsions from the middle to both sides, while the ribs allow these two parts to flow back to the middle, where they unite.
The rib 16 is angled, with its apex lying on the central axis of the plate. On the inside of the apex is the inlet of the sedimentation tank arranged on the lower part of the plate, which is covered with a water level glass. B> is provided.
The container itself can be of any type. From the container 17 a drain pipe 19 is tapered off, which at 20 opens onto the part 21 of the plate 10 which lies below the inlet det. On the lower part 21 of the plate 10 , ribs 1 a and 15 b are also arranged.
The inlet and the overflow of the sedimentation tank are advantageously arranged in the lower third of the heated area.
The lower part 21 can be a plate that is completely separate from the plate 10 . It forms a device on which the deposited 01 is treated in the same way as on the plate 10.
In the embodiment shown in Fig. 3, the plate, the ribs 15 are not fixed, but loosely arranged and they extend over the entire width of the heated surface. One is able to influence the course of the olemtilsion by appropriate inclination of the ribs so that the heated surface is fully utilized. The storage rib 16 is permanently arranged.
The ribs 15 can be provided with a passage opening which is designed so that the -01 and the large water droplets can pass through. Instead of a single passage opening extending over the entire length of each rib, several can also be provided.
The ribs shown in FIGS. 4 to 9 are provided with such a passage opening 22. These ribs also have a channel-shaped cross section and face the open side of the channel of the plate 10 . The side walls 23, 24 can be flat or curved, inclined or vertical.
The ribs can also only. consist of a wall, which is held in the desired vertical or inclined position by supports. The support feet would then take the place of the walls 24 according to FIGS. 4 and 5. The ribs can also be provided with a roof 25, as shown in FIG. 4 with dashed lines.
The rib 16 (FIGS. 2 and 3) is expediently raised in the area of the inlet opening of the sedimentation container 17 . But it can also be completely or partially covered. The D plate 10 can be made flat or curved.
The mode of operation of the device shown and described is as follows: As soon as the emulsion from the container 1.4 falls onto the inclined plate 10 , which is heated to over 1.00 ' C hits, it is heated to this temperature, which is above the boiling temperature of the water. The sudden heating of the oil emulsion leads to immediate foaming and larger water droplets are formed because the water agglomerates due to the sudden increase in temperature and the emulsion is destroyed. The oil does not yet boil at this temperature.
The resulting water droplets now run down the inclined plate faster than the oil. This is due to the fact that the adhesion of the water droplets to the plate is significantly less than the adhesion of the oil to the plate.
The water droplets do not evaporate completely because they surround themselves with a layer of steam on the hot plate and roll down like balls. In addition, the 01 running towards the lower end of the plate finally covers the entire plate, so that the running water drops no longer run directly on the hot plate, but on the layer of oil lying on it. The water droplets finally run into the settling tank 17 .
In this way, the water drops that form from the foaming emulsion are withdrawn from contact with the hot plate and its heating effect faster than the 01 , so that evaporation practically does not occur. As a result, the mineral components always contained in the water cannot be absorbed by the 01 . The 01 is not only water-free, but also free of mineral components, so that it can be reused for lubricating high-pressure cylinders.
The water droplets running down on the inclined plate and the oil running down are brought together by the rib 16 towards the middle of the plate and flow into the inlet opening of the sedimentation tank 17 located there . The water collects at the bottom of this container, while the lighter 01 floats on the water.
As soon as the liquid level in the settling tank 17 has risen so high that it reaches the same height as the outlet opening of the drainage pipe 19 , the 01 </ B flows > through this tube 19 and reaches the lower part 21 of the plate 10. This part of the plate is heated in the same way as the upper part of the plate 10 < / B> and is also provided with ribs, so that the 01 on this plate part is again made to foam, with the last remaining water being expelled. The finally cleaned 01 is caught in a suitable manner at the lower end of the plate part 21.
The accumulated water is drained from the settling tank 17 from time to time.
