Process for the production of a fertilizer. The subject of the main patent no. 120815 is a process for the production of fertilizers, according to which mineral phosphorites in a mixture with a potash salt in the presence of lime, silica and water vapor are annealed at at least 900 C and the proportions are measured so
that in the mixture to be glowed there are approximately one mole of potassium oxide and at least 1 mole of silica per mole of P20ä and such amounts of CaO per mole of silica that calcium phosphate and calcium orthosilicate are formed.
When assessing the proportions, the amounts of aluminum oxide and iron oxide contained in the phosphorites, which act in the same way as silica, must also be taken into account.
The surprising finding has now been made that, when carrying out the same process using sodium salts, especially sodium sulfate, instead of potassium salts, the amount of silica to be added can be reduced considerably, to the extent that only one mole of P205 / 2 moles of silica is used.
The silica evidently removes 1 mole of Ca0 from the tricalcium phosphate with the formation of alkali-dipicalcium phosphate and calcium-orthosilicate according to the equation:
2 Ca8 (P04) 2 - + - Si02 -f- 2 Nag S04 = 2 (2 Ca0. Na20. P205) - (- 2 Ca0. Si02 + 2 SOs If the phosphorite used as starting material does not contain lime bound to phosphoric acid, e.g. .
For example, calcium carbonate or calcium fluoride, so much silica must be added for this lime that calcium orthosilicate can also be formed from it.
When using iron-rich and alumina-rich phosphorites, iron and clay can remove the silica with the formation of calcium aluminate or Replace calcium ferrite, so that this must be taken into account in the composition of the mixture to be glowed. By reducing the amount of silicic acid, the addition of lime, which is required in the process of the main patent, is superfluous.
so that one gets by in the present process with a minimum of additives and a phosphate fertilizer with a very high content of phosphoric acid is obtained.
From f leadership example: 100 parts of a North African phosphate, which 39.7 0; o P205, 47.0% Ca0 bound to P <a05, furthermore 5.6> Ca0 not bound to P20:
, bound, and contains 0.56% SiO2, were with 11.5 parts of quartz sand and 40 parts of technical. Sodium sulfate mixed and calcined at a temperature of about 11,000 while passing over water vapor.
The glow product contained 32.08% total P205 'and 31.37% citrate-soluble P205 (soluble in citrate solution according to Petermann)
. Of the total phosphoric acid, 98% are closed. The annealing product only contained 0.32% 80s.
