Apparatus for the manufacture of confectionery articles. The present invention relates to an apparatus for the manufacture of confectionery articles, particularly envelopes in -ho- col.at.
An embodiment of this apparatus for the preparation of chocolate tubes is shown schematically, by way of example, in the accompanying drawing.
Fig. 1 is a vertical section of the apparatus; Fig. 2 is a perspective view of part of the article made in the apparatus of FIG. 1; Fig. 3 is a perspective view of one of the caps used to close the end of the tubular receptacle according to FIG. 2; Fig. 4 is a longitudinal section of a loaded and closed container.
Like reference signs designate corresponding parts in the various figures of the drawing.
1 denotes the base of the apparatus, which base comprises a chamber in which a block 2 can slide; this block fits exactly in the chamber and has a hole 3 which, when the block is in position, is in line with an opening 4 provided in the lower part of the base 1, and an opening 5 provided at the top of the base. A piston 6 is adapted to operate through the opening 4.
This piston can be actuated by hydraulic pressure or by some other means capable of applying a very high .pressure. 7 designates a removable cap screwed onto the end of the base 1. This cap engages with a tube forming die. The die comprises an outer tubular element 8 and a core 9. The core is integral with a washer 10 which rests on a shoulder formed around the upper part of the opening 5.
The washer 10 has openings communicating with the hole 3. The lower end of the tubular element 9 rests on the washer 10, and its internal wall widens downwards to form a passage with the lower end of the core 9. tapering gradually towards the top and ending in an annular space 11 of width equal to the thickness of the desired tube of chocolate. The delimiting walls of this space are preferably arranged with equal spacing at all points.
Cap 7 which: attacks the upper end of the die, maintains all the parts in the correct position.
It has been found that even if the mass of cho colat is introduced into the apparatus at atmospheric temperature, considerable heat is generated in the pushing of the chocolate through the dies; means are provided for adjusting the temperature of the matrix -and in sequence. that of the chocolate tube. For this purpose, the cap forms with the base 1, a chamber 12 which surrounds the matrix. In the base element are formed passages 13 through which a fluid at a suitable temperature can pass.
Under certain conditions and to avoid having to employ very high pressure, it may be desirable to heat the chocolate to a greater or lesser extent before introducing it into the appliance, and in such a case it may be necessary to provide a more intense cooling of the matrix, cooling which can be obtained by means of cold brine delivered by a refrigerant. In any case, it is important to regulate the temperature of the chocolate during the process so that it flows sufficiently freely through the apparatus, but not to the point of not being suitably compressed during the operation, and of s' ensure that it comes out of the device at a temperature that allows it to keep its. form.
After formation, the tube (Fig. \?) Is cut into suitable lengths by means of rotating blades or hot wires as deemed suitable. The small tube (fig_ 4) thus formed is, for filling, closed at one end by a stopper 11 (fig. 3) and the open end must be closed after filling (fig. 4-) by another slurry. 11.
It is obvious that the parts of the tube forming die have a suitable shape depending on whether the section of the tube to be manufactured is to be circular, square, or oblong, etc.
