Abstract

"PROCESSO DE FUSãO DIRETA". Descreve-se um processo de fusão direta para produzir metais a partir de uma alimentação de material metalífero. O processo inclui formar um banho fundido que tem uma camada de metal (15) e uma camada de escória (16) sobre a camada de metal em um vaso metalúrgico, injetando a alimentação de material metalífero e material carbonáceo sólido para dentro da camada de metal por meio de uma pluralidade de lanças/alcaravizes (11), e fundir o material metalífero ao metal na camada de metal. O processo inclui também fazer com que o material fundido seja projetado como salpicos, gotículas, e correntes, para dentro de um espaço de topo acima de uma superfície nominal quiescente do banho fundido, para formar uma zona de transição (23). O processo inclui também injetar um gás que contém oxigênio para dentro do vaso por meio de uma ou mais do que uma lança/alcaraviz (13), para pós-queimar os gases da reação liberados do banho fundido, com o que os salpicos, gotículas, e correntes, ascendentes e depois descendentes, de material fundido na zona de transição, facilitam a transmissão de calor para o banho fundido, e com o que a zona de transmissão minimiza a perda de calor do vaso pelas paredes laterais que ficam em contato com a zona de transição. O processo caracteriza-se por controlar o processo mantendo um alto estoque de escória.
