Abstract
"PREPARAçãO DE óLEO MICROBIANO". A presente invenção apresenta um processo para a produção de um óleo microbiano, compreendendo o cultivo de um microorganismo em um processo de fermentação em dois estágios, em que, em um último estágio que preceda o término da fermentação, a fonte de carbono é: consumida pelos microorganismos a uma taxa maior do que aquela em que é adicionada ao meio; adicionada a uma taxa <243> 0,30M de carbono/kg de meio; ou é limitativa da taxa de crescimento do microorganismo. os microorganismos têm, assim, a fonte de carbono restringida, de modo que metabilizem preferencialmente gorduras ou lipídios diferentes do ácido araquidónico (ARA), aumentando, desse modo, a proporção de ARA nas células. Um óleo microbiano é, então, recuperado do microorganismo, usando hexano como solvente, que tem pelo menos 50% de ARA e pelo menos 90% de triglicerídeos.
