Abstract

"MéTODO E APARELHO DE GERAçãO EFICIENTE DE ENERGIA MECâNICA, POTêNCIA OU TORQUE, E MOTOR A VAPOR". Também são descritos vários aparelhos e motores a vapor que utilizam o meio de transferência de calor."METHOD AND APPLIANCE FOR EFFICIENT GENERATION OF MECHANICAL ENERGY, POWER OR TORQUE, AND STEAM ENGINE". Method and apparatus for the efficient generation of mechanical or electrical energy. The method includes the steps of heating a first vaporizable liquid heat transfer medium (3) to generate a high pressure vapor; use high pressure steam to provide mechanical energy and then condensate the vapor into liquid; and recycling the condensed vapor to the heating step for reuse as the first liquid heat transfer medium. The apparatus includes a closed loop heat transfer medium system having a first heat exchanger (4) for heating a vaporizable first liquid heat transfer medium to generate a high pressure vapor; a mechanical device (12) using high pressure steam to provide mechanical energy; a condenser (16) for condensing the vapor into liquid; and pipes for fluidly connecting the first heat exchanger, the mechanical device and the condenser, and for recycling condensate liquid to the first heat exchanger for reuse. The first heat transfer medium is preferably kept in a hermetically sealed circuit so that basically no loss of heat transfer medium occurs during the heating and condensing steps and is a fluorocarbon or a mixture of fluorocarbons which (a) generates (m) a high pressure of at least 28,12 kg ~ f ~ cm ^ -2 ^ a pressure generating temperature which is below the boiling point of water, (b) has a boiling point which is below from the freezing point of water and (e) has a critical temperature which is above the pressure generating temperature. Also described are various apparatus and steam engines using the heat transfer medium.
