Abstract

Patente de Invenção: "ESTERóIDES IMUNOMODULADORES, EM PARTICULAR O HEMIDRATO DE 16 ALFA-BROMOEPIANDROSTERONA". A invenção fornece composições compreendendo esteróides de fórmula 1, por exemplo, hemidrato de 16 alfa-bromo- 3 beta- hidróxi- 5 alfa-androstan- 17- ona hemidrato e um ou mais excipientes, tipicamente em que a composição compreende menos de cerca de 3% de água. As composições são úteis para preparar formulações farmacêuticas aperfeiçoadas. A invenção também fornece métodos de dosar de modo intermitente compostos esteróides tais como análogos de 16 alfa-bromo-3 beta-hidróxi-5 alfaandrostan-17-ona e composições úteis em regimes de dosagem semelhante. A invenção fornece adicionalmente composições e métodos para inibir replicação de patógenos (virais), melhorar os sintomas associados com desregulação imune e modular a respostas imunes em um indivíduo usando determinados esteróides e análogos de esteróides. A invenção também fornece métodos para preparar e usar estas composições e formulações imunomoduladoras.
