Abstract

According to said process, to the fuel (4), containing sulphur, and to the oxygen-bearing gas (5),in the combustion chamber of the furnace (1) is fed pulverous calcium and/or magnesium hydroxide (6) in excess proportion of the sulphur dioxide, obtained during the burning. In stage (2) water (9) or water vapor is sprayed into the flue gasses (8), containing calcium or magnesium oxide, thus obtained. According to a preferred variant of realization, the pulverous hydroxide can be fed directly into the flue gasses, which emerge from the furnace(1), either in the flue gas conduit (7), or in a reactor (2), subsequent to it, where the hydroxide is activated by means of water (9) or water vapor.
