<EMI ID=2.1>
<EMI ID=3.1>
<EMI ID=5.1>
<EMI ID=6.1>
<EMI ID=8.1>

<EMI ID=22.1>
<EMI ID=23.1>
<EMI ID=25.1>

<EMI ID=27.1>
<EMI ID=29.1>
<EMI ID=30.1>
<EMI ID=31.1>
<EMI ID=32.1>
<EMI ID=33.1>
<EMI ID=34.1>

According to Swiss Patent 459,433, it is intended, to remedy these drawbacks, to burn the combustion gases leaving the combustion chamber using an oxygen supply and an electric arc which causes post-combustion smoke gases. According to the patent application in the Federal Republic of Germany

In addition, according to Belgian patents 881,642, 884,501 and 885,200, there is also provided a valve for closing the exhaust duct.

All these devices provide for an improvement in the heat transfer between the flue gases and any water circuit by eliminating as much as possible the deposit of soot.
on heat exchanging surfaces and allowing
smoke gases formed at the end of a combustion operation to continue to also perform heat exchange. These devices do not bring improvements to the heating of water heated by combustion giving rise to smoke gases passing through these heat recovery devices and to the maintenance of this water at a predetermined temperature.
There is also known a boiler put on the Belgian market by the company S.A. Isoléco N.V. which includes an external envelope in which the flue gases circulated which improves the maintenance of the temperature inside the boiler. However, this device has the disadvantage of being incorporated
to the boiler and cannot be applied to an existing boiler.
The aim of the present invention is to develop

To solve this problem, there is provided according to the invention a method as described in the preamble comprising the withdrawal, as liquid circulating in the heat exchanger, of a liquid circulating in a main circuit which comprises a passage in said combustion chamber and the evacuation into this main circuit of the heated liquid, by the supply of heat from the flue gases, at a temperature higher than the liquid of the main circuit, the heat exchanger being

According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the method comprises withdrawing the aforesaid liquid in the main circuit at the level of the return of the liquid from the main circuit to the combustion chamber and the aforementioned evacuation in the main circuit of the liquid heated in the secondary circuit between the place of the abovementioned sample and the

circulation in the main circuit is always carried out in the same direction.
He. is also provided, according to the invention, a device, as described in the preamble, comprising the mounting of the heat exchanger with its inlet and its outlet tuned on a main circuit, in which circulates a liquid to be heated and one of which part passes into the combustion chamber, so as to form an <EMI ID = 7.1>
means for closing the secondary circuit which, in a first position, closes this circuit and, in a second position, opens this circuit, a means of forced circulation of the liquid in the secondary circuit which, in the first position, is at rest and , in a second position, is in service, and a means for controlling the shutter and forced circulation means which brings these means successively and alternately to their respective first position and to their respective second position, throughout the duration of the heat exchange between

control means being independent of the operation of the main circuit.

takes a current boiler 1 in which there is a combustion chamber where the combustion of a fluid fuel supplied by a burner 2. In this combustion chamber takes place, in a known manner, a heat exchange with water passing through a circuit, hereinafter called the main circuit.
This main circuit comprises an outlet duct 3 which connects the boiler 1 to the inlet of a radiator 4 and on which are mounted a circulator 5 and, in the illustrated case, a thermostatic valve 6. The main circuit further comprises a return pipe 16 of the cooled water which connects the outlet of the radiator 4 and the inlet of the boiler 1. A connection pipe 17 connects the outlet pipe 3, upstream of the thermostatic valve 6, to the return pipe 16 .

and total opening, is mounted on the output circuit 19 as well as a safety valve 22 which in case of malfunction of the device allows an escape of boiling water. Finally, a water temperature detection device, at the top of the coil, the aquastat 23 with incorporated electric inverter, controls the operation of the pump.
20 and the electromagnetic valve 21. This aquastat 23, when it detects a predetermined maximum temperature opens the valve
21 and starts the pump 20, while it closes the valve 21 and stops the pump 20, when it detects a predetermined minimum temperature. To obtain good use of the heat of the water, it is advantageous for these two temperatures to be located on either side of the temperature targeted by the adjus-
<EMI ID = 23.1>
maximum temperature of the water leaving the boiler 1. The difference between the maximum and minimum temperatures of the aquastat
23 is advantageously equal to 5 to 10%, preferably 7%, of the maximum temperature of the water at the outlet of the boiler 1, and this in order to avoid circuit failures due to excessively large temperature differences .
The electrical diagram in Figure 2 represents a type <EMI ID = 24.1>
illustrated in Figure 1, except that this installation does not include a thermostatic valve 6 but
a room thermostat designated by the reference 25.- in Figure 2.
The circulator 5 is started by switching the room thermostat 25, when the heating switch. dière 26 is closed. This communication also puts into circuit, through a connection box 30 in which fuses 31 and 32 are arranged, an electric motor 27 which causes the valve 14 to open by rotation on its axis, this opening causing the closing by a switch
28 of the circuit which supplies the burner 2. The latter can therefore only be started when the valve 14 is open. When the maximum valve opening is reached, the motor
27 stops spinning. The aquastat 24 of the boiler 1 controls the rise in the temperature of the water in the boiler 1. A
<EMI ID = 25.1>
the boiler aquastat 24 opens the circuit, by cutting off the power to the engine, the valve 14 being brought back to the closed position by a return means not shown, retaining the hot fumes inside the housing 9 of the heat exchanger 8.
In conjunction with the voltage applied to the motor 27, an identical voltage is applied, when the circuit is closed by the room thermostat 25, to the primary of a transformer 29 whose secondary is connected to the two electrodes 13 described above. At this moment an electric arc passes between the electrodes 13 and thus allows post-combustion
<EMI ID = 26.1>
is strong enough to withstand the installation's internal blower. When the motor 27 and the burner 2 stop, the electrodes are no longer under voltage and the arc is interrupted.
As soon as the burner 2 is started, the water trapped in the coil 10 by closing the valve 21 is heated, at a speed much greater than the water in the main circuit, given the small section of the coil and the large heat exchange surface. The aquastat 23 of the heat exchanger 8 is adjusted to a maximum temperature and to a minimum temperature, the difference of which is for example equal to 7%.
of the maximum temperature allowed by the aquastat 24 of the boiler
<EMI ID = 27.1>
temperatures are located on either side of the temperature
of 60 [deg.] C provided by aquastat 24 and therefore they will be 62.1 [deg.] C and respectively 57.9 [deg.] C. When the aguastat 23 detects a temperature of 62.1 [deg.] C it closes an electrical circuit independent of the circuit of the boiler described above, which activates the pump 20 and puts the electromagnetic valve 21 in the open position. The heated water from the secondary circuit is then directly introduced into the main circuit in the direction of the arrows F2 represented in FIG. 1. Like the circulator
5 of the main circuit is then in operation this water at <EMI ID = 28.1>
in it by following the direction of circulation represented by the arrows in FIG. 1.
As soon as the aquastat 23 detects a lower temperature
<EMI ID = 29.1>
8 this mistletoe brings the valve 21 to the closed position and cuts the pump
20. this cycle can thus be carried out several times over the time of a single boiler cycle and therefore the temperature of the water at the bottom of the boiler rises significantly faster than in current boilers which allows a faster shutdown
<EMI ID = 30.1>
temperature requested by the room thermostat.
As soon as the room thermostat 25 has switched off the circulator 5, the latter stops, without however blocking the passage to the radiator 4. however the water
of the coil 10 continues to be heated by the smoke gases retained by the valve 14 which is then in the closed position.
<EMI ID = 31.1>
tected by aquastat 23, water is circulated in the secondary circuit and it is still introduced at the bottom of the boiler, because a non-return valve 33 prevents water from passing in the opposite direction in the duct return 16, to pump 20. This allows a maintenance of the heat at the level of the boiler at a high level during the shutdown of the burner and waiting for a new call from the room thermostat, and this therefore shortens the boiler heating time during the next call.
When the installation is controlled by thermostatic valves 4, the circulator even remains always on.
<EMI ID = 32.1>
It should be understood that the present invention is in no way limited to the embodiment described above and that many modifications can be made thereto without departing from the scope of this patent.
One can for example consider other electrical control arrangements or other respective connections of the conduits, as well as different blocking or circulation elements.
One can for example provide the connection of the conduit
<EMI ID = 33.1>
ment of the circulator 5, the heated water leaving the recuperator passes the part of the main circuit passing through the combustion chamber, in the opposite direction, therefore from top to bottom. However, this arrangement has the drawback with regard to the
<EMI ID = 34.1>
Condaire must pass through the entire main circuit before reaching the bottom of the boiler and, if the circulator does not work, the water must pass in the opposite direction, which is not necessarily always possible, especially as the hot water collects at the top of the boiler.
It may also be advantageous to plan at the entrance
and at the outlet of the secondary circuit of gate valves 34
and 35, to isolate the secondary circuit in the event of repair
or necessary maintenance of the latter, which does not
not have to interrupt the main circuit.
Finally, the outlet duct connection 19 can
be done directly at the boiler, at the latter's trap.
Furthermore, the dispersion shield 11 is advantageously provided hollow inside and open towards the outside, from above, a hot air intake which may possibly be provided at this level.
CLAIMS
1. A method of recovering heat from smoke gases, comprising supplying the heat of the smoke gases, originating from combustion in a combustion chamber, to a liquid circulating in a heat exchanger, characterized in that 'it comprises the withdrawal, as liquid circulating in the heat exchanger, of a liquid circulating in a main circuit which includes a passage in said combustion chamber and the evacuation in this main circuit of the heated liquid, by the supply of heat from the flue gases, at a temperature higher than the liquid in the main circuit, the heat exchanger thus being mounted in a secondary circuit parallel to the main circuit,
as well as successively and alternately blocking the total circulation of the liquid in the secondary circuit and the forced circulation of the liquid in the latter during the entire duration of the heat exchange between the flue gases and the liquid in the heat exchanger,
this blocking and this forced circulation being independent of the circulation in the main circuit.
