<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

In automatic washing machines, it is known to bring the cold water introduced to the temperature desired for washing, for example at 45.70 or 95 ° C., by means of heating resistors provided in the machine, each of the The resistors in question are energized by the machine's program regulator, and it is kept in circuit, depending on the degree of heating required for the water, for a determined period of time prescribed by the program regulator. Although such a process has generally proved successful in achieving the prescribed water temperature, it is not without certain drawbacks. Thus, it may happen that after a prolonged service of the washing machine, a
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
heating resistor deteriorates and is thus taken out of service.
The service life of the other heating resistors is then no longer sufficient to supply the quantity of heat necessary to the water in order to bring it to the prescribed temperature. The same drawback arises when, as is common, mainly in rural localities, the mains voltage available does not reach the value it should normally have, for example 220 volts. Also in this case, the water may not reach the desired temperature after the heating time specified in the program.
The present invention relates to a method and a device for maintaining the temperature of the water in automatic washing machines equipped with heating resistors, controlled as a function of time by the program regulator and heating the water to the temperature. prescribed, machines in which the aforementioned drawbacks are avoided. According to the invention, this object is achieved by virtue of the fact that the washing program, insofar as the water temperature is not reached within the time pre-set by the program regulator, is interrupted. and is only resumed after reaching the prescribed temperature for the water.
For the implementation of this method, use is advantageously made of a device equipped with a program regulator motor driving the program disc for controlling the resistances as a function of time, said device comprising, according to the invention another rotating program disc. synchronously with the previous one and opening, shortly before the radial position of the first disc, for which the latter opens the supply circuit of the heating resistors, a contact located in a supply conductor of the regulator motor which is parallel to another conductor leading to the engine and having a thermostat.
If one, for example
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
ple, of the three resistors had been switched off, the program is interrupted in its heating phase until the two resistances still intact bring the washing water to the desired temperature, previously displayed in the machine. The duration of the washing process is correspondingly increased.
Another advantage of the invention lies in the fact that for the display, on the controller by program, of the operating time of the heating resistors, it is no longer necessary to take into consideration, as was customary to date, the worst case, i.e. the case which requires the longest heating time, for example the case where a relatively large amount of particularly cold water is introduced into the machine. On the contrary, by means of the means proposed by the invention, it is possible to display the setting without taking into account the quantity and the temperature of the water which is necessary, or which is available.
This leads to a significant shortening of the operating times, since the program disk controlling the heating elements can be foreseen for the most favorable case, that is to say the one requiring the duration. heating time.
By way of example, the assembly diagram of the subject of the invention has been described below and shown in the accompanying drawing.
Motor 1 of the program regulator drives, among other things, two program discs 2,3, one of which, disc 2, is intended for the washing and heating program, and the other, disc 3, for the total duration of the program. The disc 3 has notches 4 on its periphery. If the feeler 5 of the contact 6 enters one of these notches, the contact 6 is open, which brings the motor 1 to a standstill. In the circuit 7, 8 of the motor is arranged a switch controlled by the float 9 and which
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
ensures that the program can only be started from a minimum water level. The disc 2 also comprises on its periphery notches 10, each of the circumferential widths of which corresponds to the duration of a centrifugation operation.
The solid parts 11, on the other hand, situated between the notches 10 of the disc 2, correspond to the washing process, taking place, preferably in a reserved manner.
In the example shown, the water must only be heated during the washing phase, so that the solid areas 11 of the disc 2 correspond at the same time to the heating times. In the enclosure 12 containing the washing drum, is placed a thermostat 13 which, when a certain temperature of for example 90 is reached, opens a contact 14 and closes another, 15.
If the feeler 5 'of another contact 16 is in the upper position shown and if the contact 14 is closed, the circuit
17,18, 19,20 is closed via the relay 21 for switching on the heating resistors not .represented and via the relay 22 for switching the main motor on to "reserved washing" operation. .
If, on the other hand, the feeler finger 5 'is in a notch 10 of the disc 2, the relays 21 and 22 disconnect when the contact 14 is closed, the heating resistors and interrupt the operation of the engine on the speed ! of washing reserved, while the circuit 17, 20 is closed, via the relay 20 of the switch of the main motor adjusting to the "centrifuge operation of the drum of the washing machine. = '-
There is a certain relation between the notches 4 and 10 of the disks 3 and 2 Suppose, for the sake of clarity, that the program starts in the position of the disks represented by the interrupted line A, After the @
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
disc 3 has rotated by an alpha angle,
the feeler falls into the notch corresponding to the radial position B, which disconnects the motor 1. However, during this time the feeler finger 5 'has not yet fallen into the notch 10 corresponding to the position C, because the angle AOC is greater than the angle AOB it is in fact equal to Ó + ¯ Ó If the washing temperature has not yet been reached, that is to say if contact 14 is still closed, the heating relay 23 still remains stuck and an additional heating of the water is obtained.
If the desired temperature is reached, contact 6 is shorted through leads 25 when contact 15 closes. The engine begins to start. After the disc 2 has rotated the small amount ¯Ó the relay 23 is energized by the penetration of the feeler 5 'into the anchor 10 corresponding to the position C, and the machine is connected in centrifugation mode. However, if the temperature was reached before time B of disc 3, the program would have continued to run without interruption.
The thermostatic switch 13, 14, 15 is advantageously produced in such a way that it comprises several stages or contact stages for different temperatures, a temperature stage being pre-selected either by a particular switch, for example of a strip of buttons or keys, either by the regulator by program, in a predetermined cycle.
