COMPRESSED AIR TOOTHED WHEEL MOTOR WITH STRAIGHT OR SLIDED TOOTH ROTORS.
The invention relates to a toothed wheel motor with rotors with straight or oblique teeth, which, for the change of the direction of rotation under the control of a control device are driven, at will from either side. , where they mesh, by a compressed fluid. These toothed-wheel motors are, in most cases, driven with compressed air, but pressurized steam and possibly even co-compressed water can serve as the actuating agents.
The loud operating noise of these engines was particularly annoying; this noise prevents immediate oral comprehension in their proximity and is also otherwise very annoying for the staff as well as for the whole neighborhood. This noise manifests itself especially loud, naturally, in narrow mine galleries, in which these engines are used in many instances.
According to the invention, it is proposed to provide the casing with a casing, which forms an exhaust pipe through which the outgoing air is conducted, the outgoing air therefore no longer arrives, as in known models, immediately. on the exhaust by more or less short pipes, it is on the contrary conducted in a sufficiently large muffler around the engine crankcase, in such a way that a great reduction in noise is obtained.
It is useful for a control valve to lead to the exhaust the air coming from the outlet of the rotors, through a control housing, through the muffler. The control slide is thus not only used to change the direction of the fresh air, therefore to change the direction of rotation of the motor, but in dreary time also to conduct the outgoing air, which is in any case led to through the exhaust.
It is useful to have air deflection baffles in the exhaust, by which the desired effect is increased.

According to a further proposal according to the invention, the shocks in rapid succession of the air, suddenly emerging from the intervals between the teeth and relaxing, things which cause the formation of a loud noise, are further reduced by the fact that the passage from the casing of the plies to the air openings which face each other, is formed in a rounded or progressive development. The impacting of air from the gaps between the teeth in the existing air exhaust opening is thus significantly reduced and the siren effect which has hitherto existed is largely avoided.
In the drawing, an exemplary embodiment according to the invention is shown in section, schematically.
By 1 are designated rotors, in a known manner with straight or oblique teeth, which are located in the casing 2. The casing 2 is completely closed up to the opening 3 of the air duct 4 and to the opening of one face 5 of the air duct 6.
The double piston slide 7, which is arranged in the control housing 8, leads, in its far left position shown in the drawing, the air, brought through the air inlet opening 9 into the space. 10, via line 4 to opening 3, so that the rotors 1 are rotated in the direction of rotation indicated. The outgoing air flows from the intervals between the teeth through the opening 5. The formation of a loud noise is already largely avoided at this point by the roundings and the gradual passage. The actual sound damping is obtained by specially leading the air exiting through the pipe 6 and the cylindrical casing 8 into the exhaust 11, which is formed of a casing 12 which surrounds the motor casing 13.
By 14 is designated the exhaust and by 15 the added baffles, which combine to divert the air and thus further dampen the noise.
If desired, additional assemblies for noise damping or special parts for noise damping can be fitted in: the muffler 11.
Without the use of complicated means, such as specially fitted sound absorbers. and without significant increase in material or size, it is created, according to the proposal according to the invention, a toothed-wheel motor with compressed air which - compared with the known executions¯- is distinguished by its relatively low noise production and its high efficiency.
