BOUTEILLE A CATGUT.

CATGUT BOTTLE.
The subject of the invention is a catgut bottle made of artificial material such as, for example, celluloids, polybinyl chloride or the like, injection molded or by pressing. This bottle differs from other types of bottles of this kind, already known, by the possibility of manufacturing it in a particularly advantageous way and by the simplicity of its shape and its handling. This bottle has, as is already known and used, a thread guide for the extraction of the ligature thread sterile.
According to the invention, the part of the bottle which serves to house the reserve of catgut, for example a ball of catgut, has, between the bottom and the lower edge of the body of the bottle, a screw connection provided with a ring waterproof seal. For the rest and according to another feature of the invention, the bottle is made in such a way that its body is in one piece with the upper part and a cone serving to place a metal funnel of the type. known that can be sterilized. The catgut is introduced into the bottle after having unscrewed the bottom of it to separate it from the body,
after which the bottle is closed tightly by screwing the bottom back onto the lower edge of the body after having inserted the seal ring between the two parts to be joined together.
In addition ;, according to the invention, the different parts of the bottle are conical, at least internally, so that the upper part of the conical-shaped bottle ends in an equally conical bottle neck which is extended by its side, for example by the internal part of a horizontal part of its wall which is bent inwards, by an end cone open at the top. The body of the bottle thus forms;, together with the neck of the bottle and the end cone above it, a unique press piece which its conical shape allows for easy removal from the mold. pressing or injection, or unscrewing it easily, if the screw threads have been made at the same time by the pressing or injection operation.

Such a bottle shape also allows good adaptation, by simple means, of the elastic yarn guide plate. According to the invention, this plate which, as is known, can be made of rubber and has a cross cut for the passage and guiding of the wire, is clamped inside the neck of the bottle between a marginal part angled towards the inside of the bottle neck and a retaining ring screwed into the bottle neck which is provided with an internal thread. To replace the wire guide plate, the bottle is opened by the screw connection at its bottom and closed after making the change.
The bottle is further provided with a funnel-shaped top, known per se, which conforms to the end cone and is suitable for sterilization by steam; this top is preferably made of metal and it is provided, in its upper part, with an opening for the extraction of the ligature thread contained in the bottle, the edge of this opening being completely sterile during the removal. extraction of the thread, as a result of the previous steam sterilization, so that there is no reason to fear that the sterility of the ligating thread will be compromised during the extraction of this thread.
When the catgut bottle is not in use, it is closed by means of a cap applied or screwed tightly to the end cone and which can also be made of artificial material, by pressing or by injection. This cap should have an internal thread by which it is screwed onto the thread of the end cone. The tightness of this type of bottle is ensured by means of a gasket ring resting on the upper face of the bent edge of the neck of the bottle and on which the lower edge of the cap is pressed when this cap is screwed on.
Those parts of the catgut bottle which are to be screwed on should have cleat-like projections on their outer edge, to make them easier to grip. These protrusions are preferably applied during the press or injection molding operation.
Since the catgut bottle which has just been described is made up of only a few press-molded or injection-molded parts, and since the connecting screw threads can be made at the same time, during the press-molding or by injection of the parts, the manufacture of this bottle is relatively inexpensive. The handling of the bottle is extremely simple and, despite the simplicity of its manufacture, the bottle fully satisfies the requirement that any risk of reducing the sterility of the ligature material be avoided in all cases.
Examples of embodiment of the object of the invention are shown in FIGS. 1 to 3 of the attached drawing.
Figo 1 is a longitudinal section of an embodiment of the catgut bottle which is the subject of the invention, with its closure cap.
Fig. 2 is a plan of fig 1, and
Fig 3 is a view, part in longitudinal section and part in side elevation, of the bottle on which the yarn extraction funnel is applied.
In the embodiment, shown in the figures, of the catgut bottle which is the subject of the invention, the body 1 of the bottle is made in one piece with the neck 2 of the bottle and with a cone 3 which forms the end piece; this part, which is press or injection molded, is made of an artificial material, for example cellulose, polyvinyl chloride or the like. The lower edge of the body 1 is closed by a bottom 4 screwed by its projecting edge 5 to the edge of the body 1.
Complete tightness is obtained by means of a gasket ring 6 inserted between the lower edge of the body 1 and the bottom 4. The thread guide plate 9, which is provided with an opening 10 for passage of the thread, is introduced into the neck 2 of the bottle and applied to the edge 8 bent inwards, after the bottom 4 has been unscrewed, and it is fixed by means of a

retaining ring ... :: 11 screwed into neck 2 of the bottle. The wire guide plate 9 is constituted, for example, in a known manner, by an elastic rubber plate provided in the center with a cross section 1C.
The lower part of the cone 3 is provided with an external thread 12 ensuring, with the internal thread 13 of the cap 14, which is also made of artificial material, a hermetic seal between the cap 14 and the neck 2. of the bottle, a sealing ring 15 being inserted for this purpose between the lower edge of the cap 14 and the upper face of the angled edge 8 of the neck 2 of the bottle. 16 denotes projections in the form of cleats making it easier to grip the parts intended to be screwed.
The catgut bottle shown in fig. 3 differs from that of figs 1 and 2 in that a metal funnel 17, provided in its upper wall with an opening 18 for the passage of the wire and essential when using the bottle, is applied on the cone 3. This funnel 17 is subjected to steam sterilization before the use of the bottle, so that the withdrawn yarn is extracted by passing over the completely sterile edge of the opening 18. Afterwards once the bottle has been used, the metal funnel 17 is removed and the bottle is closed tightly by screwing on the cap 14.
