Abstract
De huidige uitvinding heeft betrekking op een werkwijze voor thermisch behandelen van hout, waarbij het hout door de thermische behandeling gemodificeerd wordt, omvattende de stappen van aanbrengen van het hout in een autoclaaf; voorverwarmen van het hout door het verhitten van de autoclaaf; thermisch modificeren van het hout bij een temperatuur in de autoclaaf van minstens 180° C en hoogstens 230° C; afkoelen van het hout; waarbij de temperatuur in de autoclaaf tijdens het voorverwarmen van het hout lineair stijgt, waarbij in de autoclaaf een constante druk van minstens 150 mbar en hoogstens 300 mbar heerst en waarbij tijdens het thermisch modificeren in de autoclaaf een druk heerst die minstens 50 mbar en hoogstens 150 mbar hoger is dan tijdens het voorverwarmen.
