<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
celles-ci.
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
<Desc/Clms Page number 8>
<Desc/Clms Page number 9>
<Desc/Clms Page number 10>

METHOD OF POSTING POSTERS ON A PANEL
DISPLAY AND DISPLAY PANEL IMPLEMENTED
The present invention relates to a method of placing a poster on a display panel formed of rotary prisms with several faces each having two longitudinal edges in height and two front edges in width, this method comprising - cutting the poster in strips, and - a fixing of each strip cut on a prism face.
Advertising panels with prisms rotating around vertical axes have long been known, which allow the support of three posters on the same panel. These panels are called "trivision panels".
At present, the installation and tearing of the poster strips on the faces of the rotating prisms is still carried out manually on site, with all the drawbacks of bonding and scraping that one imagines. The installation and removal of the strips has also already been planned in the workshop, using prisms with removable and transportable blades. However, these methods are very time consuming, which increases the cost of display.
We have already tried to solve these problems by devices for placing and placing in situ posters precut in strips on advertising panels (see for example FR-B-2,643,487). The device according to this document comprises a carriage which is scrolled in front of each of the faces of the prisms to be fitted with poster strips. From a reel supported by this carriage are unrolled poster strips previously provided with a double-sided adhesive support protected by an external protective strip. Another coil supported on the device collects the protective strip before applying the strips
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
poster on prisms. A third reel finally wraps on it the previous poster strips, after their takeoff.
The method implemented by this device has the drawback of having to provide the poster strips, before, during or after their cutting, with the complete adhesion system which will allow the fixing of the poster strips on the faces of the prisms. display panel. Not only is the cutting of the strips complicated, but the cost of each poster strip to be placed is too high. In addition, complex adhesion systems are difficult to master under the very variable atmospheric conditions experienced by display panels. In addition, the device for installing and removing strips requires on its carriage the presence of three coils, to be driven in perfectly synchronized manner.
The device therefore has between the drive motor and the coils supported on the carriage a very complex transmission, which has proven in practice very difficult to control.
There is therefore still at present the need for a process of installation and removal of posters which allows a perfect finish when all the strips of posters are installed. Advantageously, the method according to the invention must make it possible to reduce costs by a noticeable simplification of installation and removal, as well as by the use of poster strips of reduced cost. The process must allow in particular the fixing of poster strips, which resist weathering, without encountering either adhesion problems or disadvantages due to condensation phenomena.
This problem has been solved, according to the invention, by a method as described at the beginning, this method being characterized in that it further comprises:
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
an insertion of a piece of poster strip cut out between at least one retaining element, extending from each of the longitudinal edges of at least one face of at least one prism of the display panel so as to cover said at least one face over a distance less than half of the width of this face, and said at least one face, and - a sliding drive of the cut poster strip, thus inserted, flat on said at least one face until it is applied to it to allow the above attachment.
The method according to the invention thus allows the strips to be applied to the faces of the prisms without the compulsory intervention of a positioning and removal robot, and without an adhesion system worn on the entire back of the strip and / or of the faces of the prisms. The application is made by a simple sliding, the strips being retained and guided laterally by the retaining elements, then fixed. There is no longer any need to glue the strips, then to scrape them to remove them.
In addition, by the particular lateral arrangement of the retaining elements, the central part of the strips remains exposed, which allows ventilation of the strips, which prevents the appearance of condensation phenomena.
According to one embodiment of the invention, the drive step comprises an application of a pushing and / or pulling force on the poster strip so as to obtain a sliding thereof in a first direction , said force being applied to a portion of strip not covered by said at least one retaining element. Over the entire height of the panel, it is possible to access the strips by their uncovered central part and to apply a pushing or pulling force thereto, which allows the strips to be applied extremely quickly and easily, not to mention the ease removal
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
them. The uncovered central part also provides a quality view of the poster.
According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the method comprises covering each of the longitudinal edges of at least one face of at least one prism of the display panel by a retaining element which extends approximately on the entire corresponding longitudinal edge, so that after said sliding the poster strip has lateral edges covered and retained by said retaining elements. The strips are thus perfectly guided and retained throughout the height of the prisms. Although not glued, the strips remain perfectly applied to the faces of the prisms.
According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, each strip to be fixed has a cuff provided with a coating, which during training is flat on said at least one face. Preferably, the covering consists of a tape with a single adhesive face, this being applied against the back of the strip.
The poster strips are usually made of paper. However, it is also possible to provide a material other than paper, in particular a material which is sufficiently flexible and resistant that it does not require a support tape when the strip is subjected to the traction and thrust forces allowing it to slide. In the case of the use of a single-sided adhesive tape to reinforce the paper strip, it is possible to envisage any suitable material of any kind for a person skilled in the art and preferably a material with anti-friction effect. One can consider for example a ribbon of synthetic material, for example based on polypropylene, polyvinyl chloride, polyester and the like.
We can also consider reinforcing the back of the paper strip by applying
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
an appropriate coating on the back of the poster before cutting the strips or on the reverse of the strips after this cutting.
According to one embodiment of the invention, the above attachment is carried out by the retaining elements themselves. The retaining elements thus serve not only for guiding and retaining the strips during their sliding, but also for fixing the strips. They can for example exert a pinching force on the edges of the strip which is surmountable by the pushing and / or pulling force during the sliding of the strips, but which is sufficient to keep the strip in place flat on its prism face. when the sliding is finished.
The present invention also relates to a display panel comprising rotary prisms with several faces which each have two longitudinal edges in height and two front edges in width, and which are intended to receive cut poster strips.
In the display panel according to the invention, at least one face of at least one prism of the display panel comprises at least one retaining element which extends from each of its longitudinal edges so as to cover said at least a face over a distance less than half the width of this face, allowing insertion of the poster strip between said at least one retaining element and said at least one face and the sliding drive of the strip as well inserted.
According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the rotating prisms are formed of three detachable blades, assembled, which each have one of said several faces, and the retaining elements of the longitudinal edges neighboring two neighboring blades are formed of a single V-shaped crimp profile with one wing
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
applied at least partially against the face of one of the neighboring blades and another wing is applied at least partially against the face of the other of the neighboring blades, this profile further having between its two wings at least one fixing element to be pinched between the two neighboring blades.
Thanks to such profiles, it is possible to transform most of the existing display panels into panels according to the invention, and this in an economically defensible and technically simple manner.
Advantageously, the retaining elements are made of a transparent to translucent material at least in their part which covers said at least one face. As these posters are only to be seen at a respectable distance of several meters, it follows that the retaining elements are no longer visible. They can be made of any suitable transparent or translucent material, for example in certain plastics or even glass.
Other indications concerning the process and the panel according to the invention are to be taken from the appended claims.
Other details and particularities of the invention will emerge from the description given below without limitation and with reference to the accompanying drawings.
FIG. 1 represents a front view of a prism of a display panel according to the invention.
Figure 2 shows a cross-sectional view of this display panel prism.
Figure 3 shows an enlarged sectional view of a profile serving as a retaining element.
In the various drawings, identical or analogous elements are designated by the same references.
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
In Figures 1 and 2, there is shown a rotary prism 1 of a display panel. This prism 1 has three faces 2 to 4 intended to support poster strips 5 previously cut. Each face of the prism has two longitudinal edges 6 and 7 in height and two front edges 8 and 9 in width.
As can be seen in particular from FIG. 2, the prism illustrated is formed by three blades 10 to 12 mounted in a detachable manner, not shown, on an axis 19, capable of driving them in rotation. Each strip 10 to 12 thus forms one of the faces 2 to 4 intended to support poster strips 5.
In the example illustrated, each longitudinal edge 6,7 of each face 2 to 4 is provided with a retaining element, in the form of a slide 13 and respectively 14. This, on approximately the entire longitudinal edge corresponding, extends from this longitudinal edge towards the other over a distance d less than half the width of the corresponding face. In this way, the side edges 6 and 7 and the marginal parts of the corresponding face are covered by the slides 13 and 14, while leaving a central part not covered.
In the illustrated embodiment, the slide 13 of the face 2 and the slide 14 of the face 3 are made in one piece using a profile 15 made of a transparent plastic material. This profile has a V shape, one wing forming the slide 13 and the other wing the slide 14. Between these two wings protrudes an additional wing 16 which serves as a fastening element to be pinched between the blades forming the faces 2 and 3. At the free end of the wings forming the slides 13 and 14, a thickening 17 and 18 have been provided respectively. The wings bear on the blades only by means of this
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
thickening 17 or 18, which the wings apply by an elastic force against the blades.
To place the poster strip on one of the prism blades, it suffices to insert one end of the strip 5 between the retaining elements formed by the slides 13 and 14 and for example the face 2.
In the example illustrated, it suffices for this to slightly raise the thickenings 17 and 18 against the elastic force which recalls them against the face 2, to pass the end of the strip below and then to release the slides. It is then possible to print an upward pushing or pulling force on the central part which has remained bare at the end of the strip, in the direction of the arrow F in FIG. 1. This force must be sufficient to overcome the clamping force resulting of the elastic return of the slides 13 and 14 and the strip then slides without problem while being perfectly guided.
When the strip is completely inserted into the slides, the sliding is interrupted by ceasing to apply the pulling or pushing force and the display strip remains pinched in the slides 13 and 14 in the position where they have just been brought.
The pushing force can be applied by hand to the central part of the strip 5 which is exposed or by any suitable means, for example a pole. The tensile force can be applied, for example, to the upper end of the strip by hand, by a pinching or hooking device mounted at the end of a pole or even to the frame of the display panel.
To remove the display strip, apply the pushing or pulling force in reverse.
It is easy to see the saving in time for the installation and removal of the posters on such a display panel, as well as the saving due to the reduction in the cost of raw material. The bands can be
<Desc / Clms Page number 9>
only in paper or in paper slightly reinforced by a back support. There is no longer any need for a complicated adhesion system or complicated take-off steps. Whatever the atmospheric conditions, the bands are maintained mainly by efficient mechanical means.
It should be understood that the present invention is in no way limited to the embodiment described above and that many modifications can be made thereto without departing from the scope of the appended claims.
One can for example consider shorter length slides arranged in greater number along the longitudinal edges of the faces, or a multiplicity of small jumpers or elastic tabs provided along these.
It is also possible to provide a system for fixing the strips, by gluing, pinching or in another way, for example at the upper end and / or at the lower end of the blades. In this case, the slides must only serve to guide and retain the strips, but no longer necessarily pinch them.
The slides could be formed in one piece with the blades, in the form of a single profile in a preferably transparent material. There would no longer be any need to pinch or fix the slides between two neighboring blades.
One could also provide one-piece prisms fitted with slides, and in this case one could even imagine a single profile for the three faces and the six slides.
One can also provide individual slides for each blade and not, as in the example illustrated, common sections for two blades at a time. In this case the profiles of the slides have a V shape, a wing of which is applied at least partially against
<Desc / Clms Page number 10>
one side of the prism and the other wing is pinched between two neighboring blades of the prism.
It is obvious that the wings of the profiles forming the slides are preferably in partial contact with the blades, for example by thickenings 17 and 18, but that it is not excluded that they are in full support over their entire surface. on these blades.
