Abstract

The regulator consists of two separate plates (1,2) on bearings, linked to drive pulleys with different gear ratios. Between the two plates there is a third plate (3) which can move up or down to engage with one of the first two plates. At low wind speeds the middle plate is engaged with the lower plate by springs. Once the wind speed rises above a certain level, cams (4) on the middle plate exercise a downward force, pushing the middle plate upwards and engaging it with the upper plate to give a lower gear ratio.
