Description

The invention relates to a continuous heat treatment system for the continuous heat treatment of workpieces, the interior of which is connected to one or more gas supply lines to maintain a gas atmosphere and which has a non-gas-tight inlet and / or outlet, a hood for outflowing atmospheric gas being arranged at the inlet and / or outlet .
It is known that in continuous furnaces, e.g. for heat treatments such as carburizing, sintering, annealing, burning, a protective gas (e.g. N2) or a reaction gas (e.g. H2, CO, methanol cracked gas and mixtures thereof, optionally with the addition of nitrogen). Not only is enough gas supplied to create the desired atmosphere inside such a system, but also so much that the ingress of air into such systems is also avoided. Protective gas therefore continuously flows out of such systems again, this mainly taking place at the furnace inlet and outlet. These gases have to be collected and removed there, since they are mostly toxic, hot and flammable gases. As is known, extractor hoods are attached to the outlet and outlet of these outflowing gases, through which, partly with fan support, these gases are discharged or extracted. In known heat treatment systems, these extraction hoods are connected directly to the heat treatment system or are arranged directly thereafter and comprise the system inlet or the system outlet more or less (see, for example, US Pat. No. 4,139,375).
The chimney effect or the fans of the fume cupboards create a zone with negative pressure in the area of the furnace inlet and / or outlet. This vacuum zone may catch not only does the shielding gas emerging from the furnace, but also causes additional shielding gas to be extracted from the furnace and also further uncontrolled gas flows in the region of the furnace openings. For example, there is often a gas flow in such a way that shielding gas is sucked out predominantly in the higher area of the system openings, while in the bottom area of the same openings a flow with air components directed from the outside occurs. Such flow ratios and the associated penetration of air into the heat treatment system must be avoided.
Furthermore, said extraction can also result in undefined conditions in that different amounts of protective gas are discharged over a period of time, e.g. due to existing filters in the extraction systems that build up over time or different chimney effects due to varying weather conditions. This can lead to completely different flow conditions in the systems during the course of operation. Basically, the suction quantities of gas atmosphere at the system inlets and outlets in the described conventional suction systems cannot be exactly determined and result in an undefinedness in the heat treatments to be carried out.
A variant for the formation of an oxygen-free furnace atmosphere and in particular the influencing of the entire furnace gas flow on the basis of a special gas extraction is also known from EP 0 075 438. This document describes a method for operating an elongated, continuous heat treatment furnace, in which a gas flow directed towards the furnace inlet is formed while avoiding air admission, the furnace being provided with sealing curtains on the outlet side and an additional gas supply line, and on the inlet side - directly above the entrance opening - there is an extractor hood. A special sealing of the furnace outlet and the gas extraction at the furnace inlet thus generate a desired furnace gas flow and thus at the same time economically achieve a high-purity furnace atmosphere.
Furthermore, from EP 0 127 333 a further method for economical formation of atmospheres in a heat treatment plant is known, namely a method in which, in order to reduce the gas requirement for a clean atmosphere in a furnace chamber, only this furnace chamber itself is supplied with clean gas, but in the inlet and optionally Also in the outlet area to or from the furnace chamber in the head area there is a supply of impure, namely free oxygen-containing gas. A specific extraction of escaping gases is not addressed in this document.
In the prior art, a number of proposals have been made for the economical generation of high-purity and, in particular, oxygen-free furnace atmospheres, these working with different means and different approaches to solutions.
Specifically, the object of the present invention is to design a protective gas extraction in continuous heat treatment systems so that the effects on the atmosphere and the gas flow in the furnace are minimal or almost non-existent.
2This object is achieved in that the fume hoods are not provided directly coupled to the inlet and / or outlet in the heat treatment systems in question but are arranged at a distance above the inlet and outlet and in such a way that a decoupling of the gas flow conditions on and in the Extractor hoods from the gas flow inside the system are the result. 2nd
