<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
umlaufenden Markierungsringen --10--.

<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

The invention relates to a spirit level with a rail with preferably an I-profile, in the web of which there is at least one recess for receiving a vial, the vial being covered by shells provided on both sides of the web, preferably made of clear plastic, and at least one of the edge regions of the shells facing one another to form a flange-like stop surface have a protruding circumferential shoulder that is to be received by the recess in the web.
Spirit levels of this type have become known several times. To protect the vials inserted into the recesses of the web, the above-mentioned shells are provided on both sides of the web, which have ribs or webs on their inside that rest against the vial and hold it in its adjusted position. These shells are usually butt against the web of the profile and are connected to them by screws, four screws being provided for each shell, that is to say eight screws are generally required per vial arrangement. In a known embodiment of this type, the
Shells on the sides facing the web to form a flange-like stop surface on an annular shoulder which is received by the circular recess in the web of the profile.
The axial height of these paragraphs is very small and less than half the thickness of the web of the profile, so that these paragraphs can only serve to center the shells. Some of these known shells are also made in several parts, they consist of an annular frame and a disc inserted into this frame through which the vial is visible. Since the screw connection mentioned does not allow sufficient sealing of the interior of the shells, and in such constructions the
There is a risk that the bowl will steam up inside and therefore the level can no longer be read, it has also been proposed to insert seals between the bowl and the webs.
All these constructions mentioned here are very complex, they not only require a relatively large number of parts (screws, seals, shells, spacers), due to the numerous parts their assembly is also complex. Spirit levels are mass-produced articles and the relevant circles involved in the production of these spirit levels are endeavored to create improvements, while maintaining the necessary and required precision, which essentially aim at not only using fewer parts for the construction of such a spirit level, but these few parts can also be advantageously and permanently connected to one another, u. with the least amount of work.
Solving this complex task is the concern of this invention, which is achieved by combining several features, some of which are already known per se. The solution according to the invention is characterized in that to connect the shells by welding before they are carried out, the shoulder on the area facing the second shell has a strip-like elevation, the width of the groove delimited by the stop surfaces when the shells are placed against one another is slightly larger than that Thickness of the web of the rail, in the shells on diametrically opposite sides recesses are provided for receiving the ends of the level and at least the outer boundary surface of the shoulder and the recess of the web form corresponding polygons.
The invention will now be described in more detail with reference to the drawings and its advantages will be shown.
They show: FIG. 1 a spirit level of the type according to the invention in an oblique view with three dragonflies; 2 and 3 two shells for covering and receiving the dragonflies in side view, cut in half; Figure 4 is a plan view of the inside of the tray shown in Figure 3; FIGS. 5 and 6 show the assembly process; FIG. 7 shows the plan view of a shell of a type that is different from the shell according to FIG. 8 shows a tubular vial; 9 and 10 in an oblique view and in section, a further possible form of application of the invention.
The actual spirit level body --1-- consists of an I-profile made of light metal or suitable plastic. In the web --2-- of this profile, three not directly visible recesses are provided, in each of which a vial --3-- is inserted. The individual vials are angularly offset from one another by 450 each. These dragonflies --3 - are arranged in overlays made of two shells. Two shells - 5 and 6 - that form such a cover are shown in FIGS. 2 and 3 in side view, partially cut.
They are made of clear plastic with a central cavity --7--. At points diametrically to each other in this cavity --7--, recesses --8-- are provided, which receive the ends of a level --9-- when properly assembled. This dragonfly --9-- consists of a cylindrical tube with two distanced
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
surrounding marking rings --10--. This tube is filled with a suitable liquid and tightly closed by a lid --11--. The edge areas of the shells --5 and 6-- facing each other have a protruding and encircling shoulder --13-- to form a flange-like stop surface --12--.
The shoulder --13-- of one shell --5-- has a strip-like elevation --14--. The paragraph-13-- of the other shell - 6-- is flat in the exemplary embodiment.
In principle, however, it would be possible to provide such a strip-like elevation here as well. From Fig. 4 it can also be seen that the outer boundary surface --15-- of the shoulder --13-- forms a regular, equilateral octagon.
If the two shells --5 and 6-- are now put together after the level --9-- has been inserted, the stop surfaces --12-- delimit a groove --16--, the width of which is --B-- is slightly larger than the thickness --S-- of the web --2-- of the rail --1--, which is received by this groove (Fig. 5). In order to firmly connect these bowls --5, 6-- with the spirit level body-l-, they are pressed together in the direction of the arrows --17-- and at the same time subjected to ultrasound. This sonication causes the bar --14 - to be briefly heated, melted and the two shells
EMI2.1
spirit level bodies --1-- are connected.
Since also the recesses of the web --2-- and the outer contour of the shoulder --13-- follow here
Type of a regular octagon are formed, and the abutting surfaces here can be punched or injected with very high accuracy and low tolerance, the spirit level in the level body-l-is already properly adjusted with this welding, whereby because of the special limitation used here and the same structure consisting of bowls and dragonfly can be installed in such a way that the spirit level is suitable for measuring horizontal, vertical and 45-degree inclinations, if, as can be seen from FIG. 1, for example here three correspondingly arranged kits, as mentioned, to be built in.
The structure consisting of the dragonfly --9-- and the shells --5 and 6 is installed offset at an angle relative to the longitudinal axis of the spirit level body in relation to its plane or axis intended to hold the dragonfly.
Another possibility is illustrated in Fig. 7. It shows a top view of a differently designed shell. The outer boundary surface --15 '- of the shoulder --13' - is designed here as a regular hexagon, to be received in the web of the level body a corresponding and narrow-fitting hexagonal recess is provided. In the bowl there are now several recesses-8'-8 '; 80-80; 80'-80'-; so that the vial can be inserted into such a bowl in different positions at an angle offset from a reference plane (perpendicular to the plane of the drawing). In connection with a hexagonal recess in the web of the level body, an additional measurement option could be provided in this way.
In FIGS. 4 and 7, an inserted vial tube is indicated in each case by a dashed line.
In the embodiment described, the two shells and 6 - have paragraphs --13 - of at least approximately the same height. It is within the scope of the invention to attach a shoulder to only one of the two shells and to design the opposing shell with a flat flange. In this case, the height of the shoulder would have to be dimensioned so that it at least corresponds to the thickness --S-- of the web --2--. Furthermore, it is within the scope of the invention to also arrange strip-like elevations in the sense of the elevation --14-- on the flange surfaces --12 or 12 '- of the shells, if these shells are used in connection with spirit level bodies which are also made of plastic are made. In this case, the cavity delimited by the shells would be sealed by two sealing zones.
As FIGS. 9 and 10 show in an oblique view and in section, the invention can also be applied to those dragonflies which have an upper viewing window -18-.
Thanks to the proposal according to the invention, the vial or the cover shells need not be aligned or adjusted in an additional work step during assembly or after assembly, nor is there any need for special brackets for the position-oriented installation of these shells and the vials, so that one as well rapid and, moreover, reliable assembly is possible with the fewest possible parts.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
For the sake of completeness, it is stated here that the drawings do not show the recesses in the web - for the inclusion of the cover shells, since this configuration results directly from what has been said, because this recess or its contour is polygonal, u. in the form of a regular, equilateral polygon and directly corresponding to the outer contour - -15, 15 '- of the approaches --13 or 13' - of the shells, whereby the closest possible fits are chosen to ensure the safe and reliable ensure that the vial body is positioned correctly.
