<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

The invention relates to a device for pouring spouts with a lid in canisters.
There are 10-, 20- and 30-liter canisters which are blown from thermoplastic material.
Despite the fact that they are much lighter, do not rust, do not rattle, do not need to be regenerated, etc., they were not able to displace the 20-liter standard canister, also known as the Wehrmacht canister or "jerry can". In order for the authorities to approve such a canister, it must meet considerable requirements.
For example, it must not tear if it is fully filled from a height of 2 m at 250C
Steel plate drops. The well-known plastic canisters survive such a fall, provided they are dropped on the almost flat surfaces or on the corners of the canister. However, they tear far too often and the closure leaks if you let it fall on its most sensitive point, namely on the outlet nozzle when it is full.
In addition, it has so far only been possible in principle to close the nozzle with a screw cap that cannot be stressed enough by far, so that it can only be used as a water container, but not as a
Containers for fuel, were usable. The use of the popular and well-known claw lock was basically not possible.
It has also become known to provide openings in sheet metal canisters into which a sleeve-shaped
Zipper made of thermoplastic material can be clamped. Even in the case of sheet metal canisters, this type of closure does not meet the requirement that such canisters, with which one can flammable, must meet
Liquids transported. If the known canister were to fall on the closure, it would leak, either because the closure was torn open, or because the closure was pushed into the canister.
Furthermore, it has become known to protect the sealing surface of glass bottle necks by either using a metal ring so that its outer surface gives off the sealing surface, or by using a
Plastic outer sleeve applies. Both solutions certainly do not contribute to guaranteeing a tight closure even if the bottle is thrown onto a steel plate from a height of several meters with the closure first.
Finally, it has become known to pull the very thin container skin through a ring in spray containers and to pull it back over it, which, so to speak, forms the core of the nozzle. Also this one
Closure is not highly resilient, as it has to be with canisters and offers no common basis for
Screw closures or claw closures.
The object of the invention is to provide an outlet nozzle that survives the falls described above without losing the required tightness, which does not cause tearing, which in principle as
Claw lock or screw lock can be designed, but nevertheless not such
We have special solutions that are not feasible from a commercial point of view and that can also be stacked.
According to the invention, this object is achieved in that the pouring spout and canister are made of thermoplastic material, that the wall of the pouring spout is firmly connected by a connecting device to a sleeve made of a material of significantly greater hardness than the thermoplastic
Plastic, the connecting device is preferably provided between the outer surface of the pouring spout and the inner surface of the sleeve, that the outer end face of the pouring spout is higher than the outer end face of the sleeve and forms the counter surface for the cover, that the inner end face of the sleeve is at a distance from the surface of the canister from which the pouring spout grows and that the lid is held on the sleeve.
Further advantages and features of the invention emerge from the following description of preferred exemplary embodiments.
The drawings show: FIG. 1 the side view of the device according to the invention, partially in section, FIG. 2 the front view of the device according to the invention, FIG. 3 the top view of an elongated spring steel strip, FIG. 4 the front view of an insert ring with a molded vent tube, viewed in the direction the arrow B of FIG. 5, FIG. 5 shows a section along the line 5-5 in FIG. 4, FIG. 6 shows a view according to the arrow C in FIG. 5, FIG. 7 shows a longitudinal section in the longitudinal direction of the canister transversely through the Connection area, FIG. 8 is a plan view of FIG. 1 according to arrow D.
A canister --11-- made of polyethylene has handles-12-, of which only the middle one is shown. In the thickness of the wall thickness visible in Fig. 7, a connector -13- is formed from plastic. There is an outer ring -14- made of A around this socket! uminium die-cast, which is firmly connected to the socket --13-- in a manner not shown. A cam --16-- together with a locking groove --17-- on the outer ring - 14 - prevents the outer ring -14- from rotating relative to the connector --13--.
A closure cover -18- is dotted with a tab -19-which has a bulge -21- on the cover, which forms a bearing for a transverse axis -22-. The flap 19 tapers to the left as shown in FIG. 1 and merges there into a longitudinal eye 23. In this there is a transverse rod -24-, the ends of which are cast in supports -26-triangular in outline, which extend parallel to one another at a distance and are integral with the outer ring -14-. The sealing cover 18 is thus held captive on the outer ring 14.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
The transverse axis - 22 - serves as a bearing for a claw - 27 - of known shape. It has two eyes --28 - that are connected to the ends of the transverse axis - 22 -, then merge into a wide middle section - 29 - and finally downwards and to the right as fingers bent upwards - 31- - decay. The claw - 27 - is made of sheet steel using the technology and type of processing that is usual for such claw locks.
On the outer ring -14-, two eyelets -32-are injection-molded, which have an upper crosspiece --33-- and a lower crosspiece --34--, which are connected to one another by a leg --36--. As can be seen from Fig. 2, the transverse web --33 - is set a little lower on the leg --36 - so that between its upper end face - 37 - and the upper end face - 38 - of the transverse web 33 - a Level --39-- results.
The lower surface -41-of the transverse web -33-is convexly curved and has a course such that
EMI2.1
Crossbar-33-larger - 48 - of the finger-31-is located. It is about 1 1/2 times as wide as the finger --31-- thick. The spring steel strip - 44 - is bent around the contour of the transverse web --33-, with the upper end face --38-- of the transverse web --33-- at the same height as the top of the spring steel strip - 44 - lies. The spring steel strip - 44 - overlaps a little on the face --38--. Through the
EMI2.2
--46, 47-- extends the outer ring --14-- can easily absorb the forces that occur when closing.
Since it is made of light metal, it does not destroy one of the main advantages of plastic canisters, namely their light weight. In addition, light metal injection molding allows cost-saving, rework-free production. As such, the finger, which can never be completely deburred, would soon work into the light metal eyelet.
Even before the finger had cut through all the way through, the claw lock would be worthless, because the deeper the finger cuts into the crosspiece, the more the locking pressure between the cover and socket decreases. In itself, a roller, ball or other rolling element could also be used as a pressure absorbing device in the crosspiece. However, the metal strip is cheaper, can be thin, does not move and therefore cannot lose its ability to move, as could be the case with rolling elements. In addition, the metal band hugs the shape of the eyelet and results in a large contact surface, whereas line pressure or even point pressure occurs with rolling elements. The spring steel band can be obtained cheaply and with a very hard surface in series.
Fastening with a pin link has proven itself in practice, in contrast to gluing, spot welding or other types of connection. The elongated hole allows tolerances to be absorbed and when inserting the pin link, it does not need to be inserted into the hole in the crosspiece and two holes through the ends at the same time. Rather, one can first comfortably insert the pin member through the elongated hole and then fully press it in when the two other holes are in alignment. By adapting the spring steel band to the angled cross-section of the crossbar, the spring steel band is held almost exclusively by its shape on the crossbar, so that the pin member is not stressed much.
In this way one can easily master the considerably positive or negative thrust that is exerted on the spring steel band by the fingers when opening and closing the closure. The curved inner surface creates a large contact surface between the finger and the spring steel strip. The device is characterized by low frictional forces.
Coaxially to the geometrical longitudinal axis --51-- of the connecting piece --13-- there is an insert ring -52-- which has an external toothing with a sawtooth-shaped cross-section, which also runs coaxially to the longitudinal axis -51-. This external toothing-53-corresponds to an internal toothing -54 on the inside in the upper area of the connecting piece -13-. If the insert ring -52-, which is injection-molded as a single part, is knocked into the socket -13-, it can only be torn out with a force that does not occur during operation and with considerable deformation.
An annular flange -56-of the insert ring-52-, which extends perpendicular to the longitudinal axis-51-and which sits with its lower annular surface -57- on the likewise ring-shaped end face -58- of the connector, serves as a stop when inserting. For sealing purposes, a groove for an O-ring 59, which seals the corner area, is provided in the inner area of the annular surface 57. So that the insert ring --52-- does not turn, which is e.g. B. can happen when a screw cap is used, it is in the area of
EMI2.3
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
--62-- in the longitudinal axis --51-- a kink --66-- and then runs obliquely inwards and downwards.
On the outside of the connection -13- a trapezoidal thread -65- is provided, the flanks of which are approximately perpendicular to the longitudinal axis -51- --67-- serve as supporting flanks. At the lower end of the trapezoidal thread - 65 - is concentric to the longitudinal axis - 51 - an annular bead - 68 - part of an annular groove - 69 - in which a strong O-ring --71- is held is.
The outer ring --14-- also has a trapezoidal thread -72-- on its inside, which cooperates with the trapezoidal thread --65-- and whose flanks --73-- rest on the flanks --67--, but otherwise have visible axial play. In the fully assembled state, the O-ring --71 - is pressed together by an apron - 74 - so that the flanks - 67, 73 - always rest against one another and never have any play. One could also use any other pretensioning means that presses the outer ring --14-- outwards. The lower edge-76-of the apron-74-has a distance of a few millimeters from the nearest plastic areas.
Outside the O-ring --71-- and below the carrier --26-- there is an anti-rotation device - 77 - which, in the case of the exemplary embodiment, has a plastic nose-78-on the canister-11-below
EMI3.1
The sealing cap -18-- has a sealing ring --81-- inside, which is held on its inner circumference by a plate --82--. The sealing cover - 18 - has an edge - 85 - drawn downwards according to FIG. 7, the lower annular end face --83 - of which is a clearly recognizable distance from the upper end face --84-- of the outer ring --14 -- Has. The upper end face --58 - of the connecting piece --13 - is also not in contact with the edge - 85 - and the same applies to the upper end face - 86 - of the insert ring - 52 -.
If there is now a blow on the closure approximately in the direction of the arrow - D - of FIG
EMI3.2
-83-- rests on the forehead --84--. Then, however, the outer ring --14-- will make a small downward movement in the direction of the geometric longitudinal axis --51- relative to the connection piece - 13 - and compress the O-ring --71-- a little more so that here there is also a shock reduction. As you can see, the distance between the edge -76- and the adjacent plastic parts has the meaning that if the nozzle is pressed in strongly, the edge -76- cannot punch into the plastic parts below.
However, if the apron were not made rigid --74-- but made of resilient material, then one could let it sit on the plastic parts underneath and thus completely or partially save the O-ring --71--.
A further safeguard in the event of such falls is that a goiter-like bulge-87 is provided which, according to FIG. 8, has a quarter-moon shape and begins with its tips under the eyelets -32-. With her belly, the bulge practically extends to the front wall - 88 - of the canister.
If the canister falls on the closure, the bulge --87 - snaps inwards, which also destroys energy. Such a snap device could also be designed differently. It doesn't necessarily have to be a quarter moon shape. However, in addition to its energy-consuming effect, such an arrangement has the advantage that the canister can be emptied more easily because the bulge creates better flow conditions and it also serves as a collecting basin for the last remaining liquid when the canister is upside down, so that it can be emptied without leaving any residue much easier than it has been since then. In Fig. 1 you can see the non-bulged area --88 - in the side view. The transition from the bulge-87- to the surrounding area -88- is gentle.
The invention can also be used for pouring spouts that have a screw closure instead of a claw closure. In this case, an external thread would have to be provided on the outer ring --14-- and instead of the closing cover - 18 - a screw cover.
If you can accept that the outlet cross-section of the nozzle --13-- is smaller, you can replace the outer ring -14-- with an inner ring. You then have to move the trapezoidal threads - 65, 72 - inside.
Furthermore, it would not be absolutely necessary to provide the carriers - 26 - on the outer ring - 14. Equivalent plastic carriers could also be provided in the area of the handles. The embodiment according to the invention, however, has the advantage that everything related to the outer ring --14-- can be produced as an assembly and can be attached to the connecting piece --13--.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
The sawtooth-shaped internal toothing --54-- of the connecting piece --13-- means that this toothing has to be created by turning. If, instead, only a circumferential groove with a round, flat cross-section is provided, then this groove can be produced when blowing. The insert ring has a bead complementary to the groove. This embodiment can also simply be knocked into the socket-13.
Instead of the nose - 61 - a flattening can be provided there so that the circumference of the insert ring --52-- becomes out of round. This flattening then corresponds to a complementary projection in the connecting piece-13--, so that this also provides a rotation lock.
