EMI1.1
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

Sealing washer for rolling bearings and process for their manufacture
EMI1.1
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Glass fibers only serve as reinforcing reinforcement, which is very disadvantageous for the elasticity of the ring lip.
The object of the invention is to create a sealing washer which avoids the disadvantages of the described sealing washer, is much easier to manufacture than the sealing washer, which consists of a metal frame or metal insert and a rubber ring and is sufficient for the life of the roller bearing.
In the case of a sealing washer described in the introduction, according to the invention, the retaining ring part has a sliding ring part made of elastic plastic, preferably of polyurethane, which is fixedly connected to it and surrounds it at least in the region of its inner edge.
The retaining ring part is preferably made of glass fiber reinforced plastic, preferably of polyamide.
Due to the retaining ring part made of glass fiber reinforced polyamide, the sealing washer in the groove of a roller bearing ring is completely sealed and has the strength that the lubricant offers resistance even at very high speeds of the bearing and is replaced by the slip ring part, from z. B. pure polyurethane, the required abrasion resistance and elasticity of the annular lip for a perfect seal on the other roller bearing ring is guaranteed, the two-part sealing washer can be mounted as a unit.
In order to achieve a completely perfect seal of the retaining ring part, the retaining ring part is slightly wedge-like in its retaining zone in cross section in the direction of the outer circumference for its pressing into the groove of the roller bearing, whereby it also tapers in the direction towards the center of the ring, so that the sealing washer does not become too thick after the slip ring part has been applied. The retaining ring part is preferably encompassed on both sides from its retaining zone by the slip ring part, which has a sealing, elastic ring lip known per se on the inner circumference of the sealing disk. In order to achieve a secure connection between the retaining ring part and the slip ring part, the retaining ring part in the area of the slip ring part has recesses, perforations, bores or the like that receive its material.
According to the method according to the invention, the sealing washer is produced in such a way that the plastic slip ring part, which acts as an elastic sealing body, is injected onto the retaining ring part in a mold.
Since the sealing washer according to the invention can be produced in two press or injection molds one behind the other, its production is considerably easier than that which consists of a metal frame and a rubber ring.
In the drawing, an exemplary embodiment of a ball bearing is shown in partial cross-section with sealing washers according to the invention and is described below.
With -l-the outer, with-2-the inner ball bearing ring, with-3-a ball bearing and with -4-the ball cage.
EMI2.1
According to the invention, the sealing washer - 6 - consists of a retaining ring part - 6a - and a slip ring part -6b-, which the elastic ring lip - 6c- rubbing against the sliding zone --7-- of the inner ball bearing ring-2-- -having. The retaining ring part - 6a - consists of glass fiber reinforced plastic, preferably of polyamide, but it could also be polyethylene or polyvinyl chloride, and in its retaining zone - 6d - has a thickness on the outer circumference that is suitable for a tight or press fit the groove - 5 - is sufficient. Preferably, the retaining ring part is in his

narrow ring lip-6c-expires.
Since the retaining ring part - 6a - and slip ring part - 6b - made of plastic form an inseparable connection, the invention creates a permanent, lubricant-resistant and all requirements-fulfilling sealing washer for roller bearings with very high speeds.
Of course, the slip ring part does not have to protrude as far as the holding zone of the holding ring part, but if there is a sufficiently strong connection, it is sufficient that the material of the
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
Slip ring part surrounds the retaining ring part only in the area of the annular lip. On the other hand, according to the invention, it is also possible to guide the material of the slip ring part over the holding zone of the holding ring part so that a uniform material impression is created on the outside, the more elastic material of the slip ring part producing a particularly good seal in the groove of the roller bearing ring. As already stated, polyamide does not have to be used for the retaining ring part, but another equivalent plastic and also that which is used for the slip ring part can be considered.
The same also applies to the choice of material for the slip ring part, although polyurethane has proven to be very effective in the tests.
