<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Device for filling hydropneumatic telescopic shock absorbers, spring assemblies or the like.
The invention relates to a device for filling hydropneumatic telescopic shock absorbers,
Spring units or the like.
In the case of hydropneumatic telescopic shock absorbers and spring units, the working media are introduced into the shock absorber or spring unit through a special filling valve. Liquid and gas are filled in one after the other through these valves or, in cases in which liquid and gas are separated from one another by a partition, several filling valves are present through which the
Working media are introduced. However, this method and the valves used for it have various disadvantages. The additional filling valve increases the structural complexity of the telescopic shock absorbers or the spring units. Much more serious, however, is that the fill valve is a source of possible pressure losses.
These pressure losses have a very disadvantageous effect on the operating behavior of hydropneumatic telescopic shock absorbers and spring assemblies, and indeed they question the functionality of these devices.
The invention has for its object to provide a device for filling hydropneumatic telescopic shock absorbers and. Like. To create, which makes the filling much easier.
The invention presupposes a telescopic shock absorber with cylinder and piston, a piston rod penetrating one end face of the cylinder and a seal assigned to this end face and securing the piston rod against leakage of excess pressure medium from the inside of the cylinder.
The invention consists in that an easily detachable cap, which sits sealingly on this end face of the cylinder under the pressure of a stamp, and a conduit intended for introducing pressure medium leading into the interior of the cap are provided.
In order to recognize the exact point in time for the completion of the filling process, it is advantageous to use the thrust force on the piston rod as a control variable for the completion of the filling process. The thrust on the piston rod increases in accordance with the pressure prevailing in the hydropneumatic telescopic shock absorber or spring assembly. The compressed gas (compressed air) pressed into the shock absorber penetrates the valves of the piston of the piston rod (not shown) and then acts on the piston from the underside. Since the effective surface of the piston is larger on the underside than on the top (reduced there by the cross section of the piston rod), there is an upward pushing force of the piston rod.
In the drawing, FIGS. 1, 2 and 3 show different embodiments of the subject matter of the invention in longitudinal section.
According to FIG. 1, the working space 15 of the hydropneumatic telescopic shock absorber or the spring assembly is formed by the cylinder 6. At its end, the cylinder 6 carries the cover 3, which can be designed as a piston rod guide and contains the piston rod seal 1. The filling device, which is formed by the bell 4, is placed on the end cover. The seal between bell 4 and cover plate. 3 takes place through an annular seal 5. The end of the piston rod 2 and also the piston rod plate 14 are located within the pressure chamber 12 formed by the cover 3 and the bell 4. The pressure chamber 12 is supplied with the appropriate filling medium from an external pressure source via a line 11 applied.
The stamp 10 presses
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
the bell 4 on the cover 3 and thereby ensures a pressure-tight seal.
The filling takes place as follows:
The pressurized filling medium is pumped through the line 11 into the pressure chamber 12 and penetrates through the piston rod seal 1 into the working chamber 15. The piston rod seal thereby gives way to the inside, e.g. B. by the fact that the seal folds over. The pressure in the new working space enclosed by the cylinder 6 rises and presses against the plunger 10 via the piston rod. The pressure force of the plunger 10 is such that after the target pressure has been reached in the working space, the thrust on the piston rod hits the bell 4 against the pressure of the punch 10 lifts. This causes the pressure in the pressure chamber 12 to drop and the piston rod seal folds back due to the internal overpressure and closes the opening.
The movement of the ram 10 can be used to actuate a shut-off valve within the line 11.
Another embodiment of the invention is shown in FIG. With this arrangement, the
Pressure chamber 13 is significantly smaller than pressure chamber 12 and thus the loss of liquid when the filling process is completed is not so great. In this embodiment, too, the working space 15 of the hydropneumatic telescopic shock absorber or spring assembly is formed by a cylinder 6 which carries a cover 3 with the piston rod seal 1 at its end. An elastic ring 7 is placed on the cover plate and is surrounded by a collet 9 on its outer circumference. The piston rod end cover 8 is designed with such a large diameter that it forms the pressure chamber 13 in conjunction with the elastic ring 7.
The pressure line 11 for the supply of the filling medium opens on the circumference of the collet chuck 9. In this embodiment, the elastic ring 7 also has a bore on its circumference which coincides with the pressure line 11. However, it would also be possible to connect the pressure line 11 to the piston rod end cover 8. A stamp 10 presses the piston rod 2 inwards and, by compressing the elastic ring 7, ensures that the pressure space 13 is sealed off from the outside.
The filling process in a device according to FIG. 2 takes place in the same way as in one
Device according to FIG. 1. In contrast to FIG. 1, in this embodiment the elastic
Disc 7 remain in place after completion of the filling process and then serve as a dust wiper and / or as an external elastic pressure stop.
The invention is not limited to the illustrated embodiments; in particular the design of the filling device and the type of termination of the filling process can be varied widely.
3 corresponds approximately to the embodiment of FIG. 2. The punch 10 is held displaceably in a guide or a housing 16 and is loaded within this housing by a spring 23 which presses the piston rod end cover 8 onto the elastic ring 7. In the housing 16 is a
Contact lever 22 is arranged, which closes an electrical contact 20 when the stamp 10 is displaced in order to close a valve 17 of the line 11 via an electromagnet (not shown). The power source 19 is located in the electrical lines 18 and 21.
If the pressure of the piston rod 2 is so great that it overcomes the counter pressure of the spring 23, the plunger 10 moves upwards, pivots the contact lever 22 and closes the contact 20. The shut-off element 17 is closed, the filling process is finished.
