Device for balancing the braking forces for brakes to be applied by means of pull ropes, in particular
EMI1.1
The invention relates to a braking device, in particular for motor vehicles, and consists in the fact that the brake cables jointly engage a plate which is arranged tiltable on all sides about a support adjustable by the foot brake lever or, moreover, by the hand brake lever.
This is intended to achieve a brake compensation for all wheels or wheel pairs, which ensures an absolutely safe and even application of the brakes. When the device is operated, the tiltable plate adjusts itself automatically so that the same braking force must prevail in all brake cables before braking begins. The device thus offers the security that all brakes come into effect evenly, so that wear and tear also remains uniform. According to the invention, the plate sits on a pressure rod which is supported in a ball-and-socket joint on the foot brake lever, the plate itself being guided with play in a fixed frame part. In this way, the device can be stored very easily in the frame and kept easily accessible for the purpose of adjustment.
The object of the invention is illustrated in the drawing in application to a motor vehicle with a four-wheel brake. 1 shows a diagram of the motor vehicle with the brake hoses, FIG. 2 shows a main vertical section through the braking device, FIG. 3 shows a section along line 111-111 in FIG. 2, FIG. 4 shows a section along line IV- IV in FIG. 3 and FIG. 5 a section according to FIG. 3 for a different embodiment.
The front wheels 3, -T mounted on the axle 2 and the rear wheels 5, 5 'mounted on the axle 4 are, as FIG. 1 shows, provided with brake drums 6, 6' and 7, 7 ', to which the brake

for the rear wheels 5, 5 'engage in a square on a plate 12, which is mounted tiltable on all sides at the support point 13 by the pressure rod 14 firmly connected to it, its spherical end 15 being supported in a socket 16 of the lever 17. The lever 17 is clamped to the shaft 19 of the foot brake lever 20 by a screw bolt 18. A pull rod 21 is articulated to the lever 17 by a bolt 22. The rod 21 is guided in a pin 24 of the handbrake lever 25 and secured by nuts 23.
The handbrake lever 25 is provided in a known manner with a pawl 29 which is controlled by the handle 27 via the rod 28 and which engages in a detent 30. The plate 12 has spherical boundary surfaces. 37 in a cylindrical housing. 32 guided with air, the flange 38 of which is fastened by bolts 34 in a frame part, e.g. B. the frame side member 35 is attached. The plate 12 is in the thread. 36 of the push rod 14, which is adjustable by means of the head 37. In the bottom of the housing 32, the brake hoses 8, 8 'and 9, 9', in which

The foot brake is operated in the following way: The pressure rod 14 is moved upwards by the brake pressure F on the foot brake lever 20, taking the plate 72 with it. As soon as one of the brake cables is tensioned, the plate 12 tilts, since it is guided with air in the housing 32, together with the pressure rod 14 around the support point 13 in this direction, u. between until the tension in all brake cables is the same. All brakes are then uniform under the brake pressure F

dressed. Due to the adjustment movement of the lever 17, the pull rod 21 is taken along empty, since it can move freely in the pin 24.
The handbrake is operated in the following way: After releasing the pawl 29, the lever 17 is moved upwards, taking the push rod 14 with it, with the foot brake lever 20 moving along empty. The effect of the brakes under the brake pressure H is then exactly the same as when the foot brake is actuated. If all four brake cables are to be readjusted, after removing the housing cover 46, the screw head 37 is rotated alone, whereby the plate 12 on the pressure rod 14 moves upwards. If, on the other hand, only one of the brake cables is to be readjusted, the corresponding screw head 44 or 45 is rotated, as a result of which the anchors 88, 39 in the plate 12 move upwards.
The first type of readjustment takes into account the uniform wear and tear during operation, while the second type of readjustment takes into account the first or repeated installation.
Instead of a single plate 12, two crossing plates 47, 48, as shown in FIG. 5, can be used, which can be adjusted jointly when the foot brake lever is operated and separately when the hand brake lever is operated so that in the first case the brakes of all wheels whereas in the second case only the brakes on the rear wheels need to be applied. The plate 48 is connected solely to the pressure rod 14, while the plate 47 rests directly on it. The hand brake lever expediently acts on the plate 47 alone by means of a fork.
The invention is not restricted to these exemplary embodiments. The plate 12 can also be connected to the compression rod 14 by a hinge. The plate 12 can also be used directly
